"Bogum is such a dick, Taehyung! I don't even know why you hang out with him!" Jin sighed, mixing the cake batter.
"Yeah, he's actually a massive prick." Namjoon agreed. "Like who thinks it's okay to force a relationship on someone? It's so bad, Tae. I don't know why you don't see it."
"That's such a big red flag; what more could you possibly want? The whole red flag factory?" Jin laughed.
"B-but we have some nice times." Taehyung meekly interjected. "A-and he's really sweet sometimes too. Plus he's okay with the fact I have a son."
"Yeah, but he treats Junnie like he's a grown man, when he's not even 5 yet. He expects too much from both of you." Jin said.
"And he hates desserts!" Namjoon said. "What kind of person doesn't like dessert? A child of Satan, that's who."
Jin looked over at his friend, who was clearly upset.
"Listen, TaeTae. I know you want to give Junnie a good childhood, but you don't need another parent to help you do that. It's fine if you want to get back into dating, but it has to be for you, rather than for Junnie. Okay?"
"Yeah, I understand. It's just hard to find someone I like who is okay with Yeonjun. I just want him to be happy and safe. Completely safe. I-I can't go through that again, Jinnie, I-I can't." Taehyung began to hyper ventilate.
"Hey, Hey. Taehyung, it's okay. It's alright. Just breathe, yeah?" Namjoon said. "You're safe here, Tae, okay? No one's gonna hurt you."
Namjoon gave Taehyung a big hug and scooped him into his arms.
"It's alright, Taehyungie. D'you wanna go and get a new lollipop?"
The young father sniffed and nodded.
"Cmon then. Jin will bring Junnie downstairs, okay?"
"O-okay."
Taehyung calmed down once Yeonjun was in his arms and was clearly okay. They took a few minutes to relax and feel better, before continuing to work on the pastries.
Yeonjun sat on a chair, wide awake now and content with holding BunBun and watching his father.
"Anyways, wasn't Yoongi supposed to be coming?" Jin asked.
"He was but he probably ditched us for Jimin." Taehyung laughed.
"No surprise there."
"He's so whipped."
The three friends continued to chatter and laugh, making cookies and cakes until the clock hit 7:58pm.
Taehyung sighed.
"Yeonjunnie is never gonna go back to sleep now." He glanced over at his kid, who was happily munching away on an oatmeal cookie. He whined occasionally but Taehyung thought nothing of it; Yeonjun whined at basically everything.
"And he has school tomorrow."
"Well shoot."
"You can say that again."
"Well sh-"
"Dont."
Taehyung chuckled softly at Jin and Namjoon bickering, and went over to his son.
Taehyung scooped up his son and sat him on his lap, happily taking a bite of the cookie Yeonjun held to his mouth.
"Jinnie, this tastes different. Did you change the recipe?" Tae asked.
"Well not really. I just added some honey."
Taehyung gasped, shooting up from his seat and frantically trying to get Yeonjun to spit out his snack.
"Jinnie!" Taehyung cried, running to get Yeonjun's coat and boots. "Oh god Jinnie, no."
"W-what?" Jin asked. "What's wrong with honey?"
"Yeonjun's allergic to honey!" Taehyung sobbed, grabbing his coat and car keys.
"I-I'm so-"
"There's no time for that, Jin! Just get in the car! C'mon!" Taehyung said, opening the door and running outside.
"I'll stay and continue with the cake." Namjoon said, ushering a panicked Jin out of the door.
Taehyung drove like a madman all the way to the hospital, practically driving on top of the other cars to get there.
Jin sat at the back and patted Yeonjun's back, trying to help him stop crying. His small arms were covered in an angry, red rash. Jin kept trying to apologise but Taehyung wasn't having it.
"It's my fault that I never told you, so you can't really blame yourself, hyung."
They parked and ran into the building, Taehyung cradling Yeonjun at the counter. They spoke to a pretty nurse with a bun that was too tight, and she told Jin to wait in the reception.
They walked down the hall, Yeonjun still choking, and the nurse instructed Taehyung on what to do to help him breathe. She opened a small bottle and poured some into a syringe, handing it to Taehyung to give to Yeonjun.
They got some cooling pads and wiped down Yeonjun's arms and the poor kid soon fell asleep in Taehyung's arms.
Taehyung sniffled, trying not to cry.
"We ran out of medication two days ago a-nd the pharmacy said they'd have it ready soon. I-I was s-supposed to pick it up tomorrow; I had no idea this would happen today of all days. Oh Yeonjunnie, I'm so sorry." He cried.
"Ah, Mr Kim. I know it's hard having a kid with allergies, especially when they're little. Little kids eat anything." The nurse smiled. "His rash has been treated and he's going to be absolutely fine. We'll give you some medicine to take home today, and you can just keep that, on top of your supply tomorrow."
"T-thanks." Taehyung smiled.
"I do suggest he gets lots of rest though. It must have been scary for a little cutie like him."
"Okay then." Taehyung said. "I'll probably keep him off school tomorrow."
The nurse smiled, beckoning Taehyung to follow her as she left the room.
"Just take a right and head towards the Allergens Unit and speak to the receptionist there. They'll give you his medication." She smiled and walked off.
The baker was still pretty shaken up, holding Yeonjun close to his chest and pressing a soft kiss to his mass of curly brown hair.
He got to the counter, standing in line and waiting for his turn. There was only one man in front of him, and something about his broad shoulders and muscular back was familiar to Taehyung. The man was wearing a crisp white shirt, sleeves rolled up to his forearms, with a dark black blazer draping off his arm.
The man turned around, about to tell Taehyung that he could have his turn, when Taehyung suddenly remembered where they'd met before.
"You can go now, I'm just waiti-"
"Jeongguk?"
The raven blinked in confusion for a couple of seconds, before his face broke out in a joyful smile.
"Taehyung!" He smiled. "What are you doing here?"
"I-I just came to collect some stuff for Junnie. He had a nasty reaction earlier on."
Jeongguk smiled in acknowledgement.
"He must be so brave; I'm sure it would've been scary for him." He cooed, smiling softly at the child.
"Y-yeah. I feel so bad for my little baby. He's got really bad rashes on his body." Taehyung sighed in remorse.
"Ah me too." Jeongguk said, baring his arms and neck to Tae, so he could see the vicious spiral of red on his skin.
"Oh my goodness!" The blonde squeaked. "That looks so horrible, Jeongguk! What the hell! What evil concoction did you eat to make you react like that!?" He cried.
Jeongguk smiled sheepishly, eyes sparkling with amusement. He flashed a cheeky grin which made Taehyung's ears go pink.
"Honey." He said.
"I'm allergic to honey."
