Taehyung woke up slowly with warm hand from above running through his hair. He curled closer into the cosy embrace of the body beside him and a small smile graced his lips. It had been such a long time since he’d woken up in someone’s arms, and honestly, he had missed the feeling of it. The arm round his waist was rubbing gentle circles on his skin and Taehyung was just about to fall asleep again until a low voice spoke softly.
“Taehyung? Are you awake now?” Jeongguk asked, smiling down at the boy in his arms.Taehyung looked up at Jeongguk, slowly taking in his messy bed hair and shirtless torso, along with his kind smile. He looked a bit tired, as though he was up all night, but Taehyung didn’t question it. It wasn’t every day he woke up in Jeongguk’s bed, after all. Wait. Shit.
He was in Jeongguk’s bed.
Taehyung gasped and shot up from the bed.
“Oh my god.” He groaned in embarrassment, “I’m in your fucking bed! When the heck did that happen? I swear I was in a different room!”
Jeongguk looked at Taehyung quizzically.
“You came here last night; don’t you remember? You came in here and said it was too cold in the other room. Ring any bells?” He frowned.
“Oh dear god.” Taehyung cringed, “I’m so sorry! I do the dumbest things when I’m tired. I basically have no filter and I hug a LOT. I am sooo sorry Jeonggukie! Please don’t think I’m weird!” He tried to wiggle out of Jeongguk’s hold but the other male simply took his hand
off Taehyung’s waist and stroked his hair in a calming manner.
Jeongguk smiled, “It’s alright, Tae. It was nice. You're cute when you’re sleepy.”
“Oh. T-Thanks.” Tae squeaked. “W-What’s the time, Gukkie?”
Jeongguk rolled over and looked at his alarm clock.
“7:57am. Why?”
“Shit. I gotta drop Junnie off at school. It’s gonna be a pain to get there from here.” Taehyung mumbled to himself. “If we leave now, we cou-”
“What time does his school start?”
“10 o’clock. But I don’t actually know where we are so we’ll have to leave earlier.” Taehyung frowned.
“You know, m-maybe I could drop you two off.” Jeongguk mumbled, cheeks slightly pink.
Taehyung shook his head.
“I-I don’t wanna be a bother, Gukkie. Me and Junnie have already inconvenienced you a lot. It'd be too much to-”
“I want to.” Jeongguk said hastily, “I like spending time with you two. You're both adorable.”
“O-oh.”
“Oh shit I’m sorry. Was that a bit creepy? Ah shit I’m sorry Taehyung. I-”
“N-no it’s fine. It wasn’t creepy. It was s-sweet. Nobody’s ever called me cute before.” Taehyung smiled shyly. “I guess we should get up now. We have to get Junnie to school.” He said, slipping out of Jeongguk’s embrace and getting out of bed.
“Aww Taehyung come back! You were so warm!” Jeongguk pouted, making dramatic grabby hands at Taehyung who giggled as he made his way to the door.
“I could get used to this.” Jeongguk muttered with a smile as he got up and followed behind Taehyung.
They entered Yeonjun’s room and cooed at the sight of Yeonjun, who was still fast asleep. He was spread out on his back like a starfish and a had a tight grip on the pillow next to him.
“He’s adorable.” Taehyung and Jeongguk said at the same time. They blushed furiously.
“Junnie. It's time to wake up now.” Taehyung called softly as he sat on the edge of the bed and reached a hand over to brush Yeonjun’s locks out of his face. “We gotta get up so Mr Gukkie can drop you off to school.”
Jeongguk smiled at the heart-warming scene between Taehyung and his son. The little baker cared so much for his kid and always gave his all when it came to Yeonjun, even when it was difficult. Jeongguk wanted nothing more than to be there for the both of them. It was an intrusive wish but he couldn’t help it. Taehyung and Yeonjun had already begun to fill the small void in Jeongguk’s heart, and Jeongguk wasn’t afraid to let them in.
He'd love them with everything he had.
Jeongguk carried Yeonjun and they went downstairs to the kitchen.
“What do you guys want for breakfast?” Jeongguk asked, rummaging through his cupboards,
“I’m afraid most things aren’t kid-friendly. Sorry Junnie.” He grinned, handing him a cracker.
“There’s some leftovers from yesterday here,” Taehyung said, pulling them out of the fridge.
“It wouldn’t be the end of the world if we ate these.” He grinned, chucking them in the microwave and turning around to face Jeongguk, who was trying to tame Yeonjun's wild locks.
“Oh shit!” Jeongguk gasped.
“Language!" Taehyung scolded.
“Sorry." Jeongguk mumbled sheepishly, "but I just realised that there's nothing for Junnie to wear. Maybe he could go wearing thi-”
“Absolutely not. You must be insane. He's not going to school in just a tshirt." Taehyung scoffed.
“Ouch. Well I didn't think it was that big of a deal.” Jeongguk said defensively.
“It is. It's a very big deal. You might not have thought about stuff like this coz you don't have a kid but he has to be able to run and play, so he can't go there in just a tshirt. I'll just have to go home first before going to the school.” Taehyung said.
“Don't you mean we? I'm still dropping you guys off. U-unless you don't want me to.”
“What? Of course I still want you to drop us off. What kind of a silly question is that, Jeonggukie?” Taehyung asked.
“I-I don’t know. I thought you were mad at me and-”
“Why would I be mad at you? You didn’t do anything wrong.” Taehyung said gently.
“Your suggestion was incredibly stupid, but you were only trying to help. There’s nothing wrong with that.”
“O-oh.”
“Yeah, oh.” Taehyung teased, shoving a nugget into his mouth. He paused.
“Did we just fight?” Taehyung asked slowly.
“Honestly I have no idea.” Jeongguk laughed. “That was extremely anticlimactic. Probably the lamest
fight I’ve ever had in my life. 2/10 stars.”
Taehyung laughed.
“This feels oddly monumental. Maybe we should mark it in the calendar.
“Taekook’s first fight.”
“Taekook?” Jeongguk quizzed.
“Yeah. It's our ship name!” Taehyung beamed, “pretty snazzy for something I came up with on the spot. I'm very proud.”
“Aren’t ships for couples?”
“Yeah and? We can be a platonic couple!” Taehyung cheered, wiggling Yeonjun’s arms in the air.
“Or maybe we could just be a regular-”
Taehyung’s phone rang in his pocket and cut Jeongguk off.
“Damn it.” Jeongguk thought.
“Hey baby!” Taehyung smiled as he answered the call.
Jeongguk felt his heart drop. Of course, he has a husband. I don’t know what I was expecting. he thought dejectedly.
“Nothing much! I’m just at my friend Jeongguk’s house. Yeah. He's about to take us home to get Junnie a change of clothes and then I'll drop him at school from there. I'll be home soon babe so
don’t worry.”
Why didn’t he call me Jeonggukie? Jeongguk pouted internally.
“Yeah, I miss you too, babe! I'll tell you when I get home, okay? Yeah, hun, I know. Love you! Bye!” Taehyung smiled.
Jeongguk on the other hand, was not smiling. The amount of pet names in that sentence physically hurt.
“Are you two ready to go?” Taehyung asked, scooping Yeonjun out of the chair. “We should probably leave soon so that I can fix Yeonjunnie’s hair.”
Jeongguk nodded and walked over to take his house keys from the hook.
“Let’s go.” He mumbled, not waiting for an answer and walking straight out the door.
Taehyung cocked his head to the side and picked up Yeonjun from the chair.
“I wonder what that was all about, Junnie.” He said as he walked behind his son and they put on their shoes.
“I dunno Daddy. Mr Gukkie was sad!” Yeonjun said, taking his Daddy's hand.
“Yeah. Maybe he'll tell us in the car. Cmon then. Uncle Jinnie wants us to be there soon.” Taehyung shrugged, opening the door and following Jeongguk to the car.
******************************
Hi I know this is very anticlimactic and very rushed and messy but I really haven't had any time to write.
Someone very close to me recently got badly injured so I'm going to take a break from writing for a while. I'm pretty sure I have a small angst promt somewhere so I'll post that in the oneshot book if I remember but it's not going to be a priority so please don't stress me if I don't remember.
If you're reading this then please take the time to tell those close to you that you love them and appreciate them! Let those around you know that they're loved and meaningful 💜
Thanks,
BB 💜
