The car ride was nothing short of chaotic.
"Jeongguk I thought you said it wasn't a long drive?" Taehyung said after 5 minutes.
"Wrong house."
"Huh?"
"I er... I realised I was thinking of the wrong house." Jeongguk laughed sheepishly. "The apartment that's close to the office only has one bedroom, so I have to take you guys to my actual house."
"Oh."
"I can take you bac-"
"No!" Taehyung replied hastily, "We're already on our way so we might as well keep going. It's late afterall."
Jeongguk laughed.
"I'm glad we're on the same page, Taehyung."
"You can call me Tae if you wanna." Taehyung said.
"Er-"
"You said it like once and then never said it again. I like it. It's cute when you say it."
"O-okay Tae." Jeongguk smiled. "You can call me Je-"
"Jeonggukie. I'm gonna call you Jeonggukie."
Jeongguk laughed. "Seems like you've been thinking about that."
"No comment." Taehyung smiled.
Jeongguk shuffled forwards in his seat and accidentally leant on the car horn.
Yeonjun woke up from the sudden noise and looked around blearily.
"Jeonggukie you prick you woke up my baby." Taehyung frowned. "Good job you moron."
"S-sorry."
Yeonjun was now wide awake, bouncing up and down in excitement on Taehyung's lap. He didn't seem to mind the new environment, just happily clapping his hands to some random tune.
"I'm never getting in a car with you ever again. He's never gonna go back to sleep now." Taehyung sighed. "I wanna hit you on the head so bad."
"Baa baa black sheep," Yeonjun began.
"Have you any wool," Jeongguk chimed in, looking in the mirror and smiling at Taehyung's amused expression.
"Stop it! Don't encourage him!" Tae laughed, running a hand through Yeonjun's curly hair.
"Yesser Yesser free bags full!" Yeonjun finished cheerfully.
"Oh god-"
"We're here!" Jeongguk smiled, pulling up in front of a large silver gate. It was the type of gate you see in movies and then laugh and think who the hell would have something like that in real life. There's no way that actually exists. Except it did exist.
Because they were driving right through them.
"This is so cool, Jeongguk!" Taehyung gasped, watching as little lights lit up the driveway as they made their way through. They pulled into the driveway and Taehyung was positive he'd died and gone to heaven. His little sweetshop house couldn't compare to this at all.
He parked the car in the garage and Taehyung struggled not to stare at the other three shiny cars that sat next to them. Taehyung opened his door and got out, holding Yeonjun's hand as he helped him out too.
"What great hospitality" he laughed, "I had to open my own door like a barbarian. 3/10 would not recommend." He laughed.
Jeongguk smiled. "I'm a firm believer of people opening their own doors. It just bothers me for some reason."
"I like it." Taehyung shrugged, "It makes me feel like a prince."
"Well then," Jeongguk grinned, typing in the house code and pushing open the grand door, "right this way, your majesty."
Taehyung threw his head back and cackled, bowing dramatically before stepping into Jeongguk's house.
"Holy sh-shoot." Taehyung gasped. "Jeonggukie your house is amazing!"
Jeongguk was stood by the doorway, holding Yeonjun's hand, and leading him inside.
"Mr Gukkie let's play!" Yeonjun cheered, tugging him inside.
"Mr Gukkie?" Taehyung said, "damn that's so cool. I'm gonna call you Gukkie too!" He smiled.
"C'mon Junnie let's go play!"
"Jeonggukie did you learn your colours when you were little?" Taehyung asked as he wandered around the living room. He looked over and saw Jeongguk and Yeonjun making faces at each other in the mirror. Jeongguk paused and looked at Taehyung in confusion.
"Of course I did. Why? What's the matter?"
"It's just that everything is all in black and white, so I wasn't sure if you actually knew any other colours. It looks a bit boring." Taehyung said.
Jeongguk scoffed defensively. "There's nothing wrong with my grayscale theme, Tae. It's clean and looks professional."
"Yeah, but you're at home. Home should be cosy and sweet, not clean and professional."
"It's really not the end of the world-"
"Oh I know!" Taehyung gasped, "Why don't we draw you a picture! And you can stick it on the fridge so your house is more interesting!"
Jeongguk laughed a bit, watching as Taehyung ran over and took Yeonjun from his arms.
"How does that sound, Junnie? Do you wanna draw Mr Gukkie a lovely picture?"
"Yeah!" Junnie smiled.
"Where do you keep your crayons, Gukkie?"
"I-I don't have any crayons, Tae." Jeongguk chuckled. "I only have a few sketch colours Jimin got me last christm-"
"We'll take em! Show us the way!" Tae smiled, following Jeongguk as he ascended up the grand staircase. Jeongguk pushed open yet another black door and revealed his home office.
"It's so sad in here." Taehyung pouted. "Next time we come back, we're gonna stick some stickers around."
"Next time?" Jeongguk teased, bending down and pulling out a box from beneath his desk. He pulled out an expensive looking tin which held about 30 different coloured pencils, and a small stack of plain paper. He walked over to them and placed them in Taehyung hands, smiling at the unprompted "thank you" Yeonjun exclaimed.
"Yeah obviously we're coming back for a next time! You can't expect me to see a massive swimming pool in your house and not come back again."
"I have some work I have to do in here." Jeongguk said, missing the way Taehyung's smile dwindled.
"O-okay then. We'll get out of the way."
(A/N: I am absolutely sick of this workaholic shit that I created for him so I think from here on out, I'm finna scrap it and make him more fun and joyful and then just make the story really problematic)
"A-actually Tae, you guys can stay in here if you wanna. It's not a problem."
Taehyung smiled.
"C'mon Junnie. Let's draw some pretty pictures for Mr Gukkie." He said, sitting them both down on the floor and getting comfortable.
"Why are you sitting on the floor? You can sit on a chair if y-"
"It's okay. Sitting on the floor gets the creative process started."
"That is 100% a lie." Jeongguk laughed, walking over and sitting at his desk.
"I know, but Junnie likes to sit on the floor and I don't want him to feel lonely."
Cute Jeongguk thought, as he took a pen and began to tackle the stack of papers on his desk.
About 20 minutes had passed and Jeongguk had completed zero tasks. He was too busy sneaking glances at Taehyung and Junnie drawing happily on the floor. They quietly sang nursery rhymes and had even stopped a couple times to do rock paper scissors.
Jeongguk's heart was actually about to burst at their close bond, and how happy they were playing together. Taehyung's brown eyes were sparkling so clearly, shimmering behind his pretty fringe which had naturally curled from after his bath. He looked so soft and pure in Jeongguk's clothes and Guk was struggling to keep from pulling him into a big hug.
He definitely liked Taehyung. There wasn't any doubt about it. He got that weird, indescribable feeling every time they made eye contact. That strange feeling of wanting to wrap your arms around someone every time you see each other, but also wanting to watch them be their cute self from afar. He didn't really know how to describe it.
"It's not even your season." he mumbled, rubbing his hands over his face in frustration. He felt a bit bitter at his realisation. Taehyung was probably married anyways. There was no way that someone as precious as him was walking around unclaimed. But he doesn't wear a ring Jeongguk thought, shaking his head and dismissing those thoughts. He wasn't going to dwell on it. Taehyung is probably naturally very friendly, and my relationship-starved self just interpreted his friendship in the wrong way, Jeongguk concluded. It was best to let the feelings fizzle out before he got too attached to the blonde male with the sparkly brown eyes and the heart-warming smile and the chubby cheeks and the cheeky personality.
Fuck.
He cursed softly under his breath, getting up from his desk and walking towards the door.
"What do you wanna eat, Taehyung?"
"Nuggets!!" Yeonjun cheered.
Taehyung smiled sheepishly.
"I-I promised him that he could have some chicken nuggets if he behaved with Sunmi b-but obviously that didn't go very well."
"Chicken nuggets it is then." Guk smiled.
"N-no you don't hav-"
"I'll order some fries too."
"Jeonggukie" Taehyung pouted.
"Taehyungie" Jeongguk mocked.
"Come on," Jeongguk said, holding his hand out and smiling when Tae took it, "You two can help me place the order."
****
They all walked down the stairs and Taehyung busied himself by sticking the pictures up in random places, while Jeongguk placed the order. Yeonjun was sat on the sofa, eyes shining in awe as he looked around the house.
“Mr Gukkie why is your house so big? Do you have a big job? ARE YOU A SECRET AGENT?” Yeonjun asked.
Taehyung gasped, shaking his head in annoyance.
“Junnie you can’t ask people stuff like that. It's rude to be so nosy, so say sorry.”
“Sowwy Mr Gukkie.”
“Tae, it’s alright, I don’t mind.” Jeongguk laughed. “I’m not a secret agent, Junnie. I'm just a boring old bussinessman.”
“Old?” Taehyung blurted. “How old are you?”
“24. What about you?
“Oh thank goodness.” Taehyung laughed, “I was worried you were like 100 years older than me. I’m 23.”
“I’m a year older. That means you have to call me hyung.” Jeongguk smirked, watching as Taehyung’s face went red.
“I-”
The doorbell rang and cut Taehyung off. He stood there helplessly as Jeongguk and Yeonjun got the food and set it down on the kitchen island.
“What’s the matter, Daddy?” Yeonjun asked.
“N-nothing.” Tae squeaked, purposely avoiding eye contact with Jeongguk who was still laughing. He pulled up three chairs and they all began to eat, laughing at Yeonjun’s stories and all the poor jokes Jeongguk told. To Taehyung, they felt a little bit like a real family. He knew that Jeongguk probably wouldn’t want to be in a relationship with him, but it didn’t matter. They were all happy and smiling and Taehyung felt the most complete he had in ages.
I shouldn’t start falling for him Taehyung chastised himself. He’s not going to want a silly little baker who has a kid. Nobody ever does, so he won’t be different. He looked up and saw Jeongguk catch Yeonjun’s head as it drooped in exhaustion, and his resolve instantly crumbled.
But maybe it wouldn’t be so bad to fall. Just this once.
***
Jeongguk carried Yeonjun up the stairs and led him into the master bathroom.
“I have some spare brushes you two can use.” He smiled, handing them their brushes. He smiled fondly as Taehyung sleepily brushed his teeth while trying to monitor how Yeonjun was doing with his. He was such a good father, even if he wasn’t aware, and Jeongguk wanted nothing more than to praise him until the end of time. But silently admiring would have to do.
They walked out of the bathroom and Jeongguk explained that they could each take a room if they wanted or they could share.
“Junnie, you’re a big boy now, so you can sleep all by yourself, okay?” Taehyung yawned.
Yeonjun didn’t even respond, just tiredly holding his daddy’s hand as he nodded his head. They crossed the hall and opened the door, walking into a light blue room.
“I wasn’t expecting this.” Taehyung laughed, humming a whole new world teasingly and getting a glare from Jeongguk.
“Jay snuck in one time when I was away and painted it blue to spite me. There's another room down the hall that’s pink.” Jeongguk whined, “I just thought Junnie would apreciate the colour more than I do.”
Taehyung’s heart nearly melted at the consideration, but he just about managed to not tackle Jeongguk into an aggressive kiss. They tucked Yeonjun into bed and left the room, before crossing over to Taehyung’s.
“I-I’m only the next door, so you can come inside my room if there’s any problem.” Jeongguk mumbled awkwardly. Taehyung grinned and pulled him into a hug.
“Goodnight, Gukkie.”
“Goodnight, Tae.”
***
A couple hours had passed and Jeongguk had finally finished up his work. He'd climbed into bed and was lying awake and staring at the ceiling, trying to rid his thoughts of a certain blonde male. He had just begun to fall asleep when all of a sudden, his door creaked open and a figure crept in.
“Taehyung?” Jeongguk whispered, as he felt his matrass dip and a body slip under the covers beside him.
“Shhh.” Taehyung mumbled, sleepily snuggling into Jeongguk’s chest, “S’too cold in the other room.”
“So you came here? You came to sleep with me?” Jeongguk asked in disbelief. Taehyung was really a bundle of surprises.
“Yeah. Wanted some cuddles.” Taehyung yawned.
“You’re unbelievable.” Jeongguk chuckled as he wrapped his arm around Taehyung and pulled him closer.
“Goodnight Tae.”
“Goodnight Jeonggukie.”
And if Jeongguk lied awake the whole night, admiring Taehyung’s sleeping face, then that’s really nobody’s business.

What do you think of this chapter? It's a bit chaotic in my opinion but it's good! It's longer than a normal one coz I felt bad for making everyone wait a long time 😅
My hand is all better now! 🥳🥳 Hopefully I'll be able to update more frequently but my schedule is a bit crazy so I'm not sure how well that's gonna work out 🥴
Thanks for being super kind and patient with me!!! Here are some questions you can answer if you wanna!
Do you think that Jeongguk would make a good addition to the Kim family?
Is Taehyung making the right choice by allowing himself to fall for Jeongguk since they barely know each other?
Are their feelings still valid even though they haven't spent much time alone together?
Can you spot some problems that Taekook might face if they were to start dating? (e.g. lack of communication)
Thanks for reading!!
