"No Junnie come back!! You can't have that; it's for the customers!!" Taehyung sighed, chasing after his son who was running around with 3 Lollipops in his sticky little hands.
"Woll-pop!" Yeonjun cheered, running wildly around the shop floor. Taehyung sighed. He needed to open the store in 20 minutes and Yeonjun seemed dead set on making him late.
"Junnie if you don't behave I'll send you into school today and you won't be able to play." Taehyung said.
The toddler froze.
Of course Taehyung was bluffing and he wouldn't send his son in to school; it was an inset day. But luckily for him, Yeonjun had no sense of time whatsoever and relied on Taehyung for everything.
He sighed again, running his tongue along the cherry jaw-breaker in his mouth.
"Thank you Yeonjun." He said, watching as his small son waddled up to him with 4 Lollipops in hand. Taehyung didn't even want to know where the other one had come from.
"Well that's four lollipops gone to waste now." He thought, knowing he couldn't possibly give them to his customers after Yeonjun had had his grubby fingers all over them.
"I guess he can have one" Tae concluded, scooping up his pouty little boy into his arms.
"Okay Junnie, here's the plan. We wash your messy little hands reeeaaallyyy quickly and then we'll set you on the carpet with some colours, yeah?" Tae said.
The mass of curly brown hair on Yeonjun's head, moved crazily as the boy enthusiastically nodded his head in agreement.
"Gween! Wed!" He giggled, clapping his sticky hands together in excitement.
The two emerged from the bathroom: Yeonjun with clean hands and Taehyung with a wet apron.
He bit down aggressively and hummed in contentment as the jaw breaker snapped and revealed some bubblegum underneath. He felt relaxed instantly.
"Okay Junnie let's go get colours now." He hastily said, setting his child down and allowing him to lead the way (albeit very slowly) to the back room. Taehyung was in love with this little room. It was small and cozy with no sharp objects, so he could leave Yeonjun in there with his plushies and crayons without any worries. To check up on him, he only had to take about 10 steps from the counter and stick his head round the corner.
The child waddled into the bright blue room and threw himself onto the floor with hardly a care in the world.
"Wed! Wed!" He grinned, clapping and laughing.
"Yeah Junnie, I know. Red!" Tae laughed softly. He turned to the shelf and took out Yeonjun's colouring book and a pot of crayons. Usually, he'd take the crayons out of the pot but he had 5 minutes to change apron, clean up the counter and actually open the shop.
"He should be able to handle being alone with a fucking crayon pot, right?" Taehyung pondered, stressing out as he tied the back of his purple apron. He had taken the opportunity to swap out the gum for a blackcurrant lollipop which Yeonjun miraculously hadn't touched.
He walked up to the front door and unlocked it, turning on the fluorescent sign which proudly displayed
" TaeTae's Confectionery " in bold rainbow colours. He flipped the sign to open and sat on his spinny chair at the counter. Surprisingly, he was only 4 minutes late. Not too bad.
There was a loud crash followed by an exaggerated gasp.
"Oopsie" Yeonjun said a little too loudly.
Taehyung groaned, head hitting the table in defeat. Fucking crayon pots. What could he possibly have done now? He sighed.
This was going to be a long day.
