the hallways were busy that monday morning as usual, most of the students running around to get to class on time since sleeping in was a common occurrence at the beginning of the week. however, this wasn't true for the two boys sitting in their homeroom already, notebooks out and pens ready for the lecture.
"fix your collar." jimin said as he reached over and poked the side of his friends neck. the hickey was very visible and he just had to touch it and see the brunette flinch.
taehyung glared over and adjusted his top, "stop that." he said. of course he could've covered it with makeup, but he'd be lying if he said he didn't want to sneak glances at the pretty mark when he passed a mirror or looked at his phone.
"you and jungkook are certainly doing well." jimin said, taking the cap off his pen and writing the header for today's class at the top of his notebook paper. "i'm guessing you haven't talked about college."
that earned him another glare. taehyung was nervous whenever that word was brought up. college. the start of a new chapter in a persons life and sometimes the end to others parts of your life. he really didn't want to deal with that right now, not when they were both so happy now being together. they haven't even been together that long, how could taehyung know if their relationship was strong enough for this.
"i'm going to." he said, writing on his own paper and ignoring the stir in his stomach. "i have to start applying in a few days anyways. i probably won't even get in." taehyung hated this.
jimin just rolled his eyes, "of course you will, you're such a good student and all the internships you've done throughout high school. france practically promised you a good future when you studied there over the summer." he didn't like what his friend was going through, both of his friends. this just happened to be one of those things no one could control, they were kids trying to find their place in the world. it sucks when that place may not be in the same space.
"the bells gonna ring." taehyung said, obviously not interested in this topic as he kept his eyes trained on the ink he scratched messily against white perfection. "yeah." jimin said, a little frown visible as he sat back and struggled to focus for most of that day.
that same lack of focus was evident in the brunettes mind. he knew he should be paying attention to lectures and notes and exam hints, but all taehyung could think about were the unfinished applications sitting open on his laptop. they were burning in his backpack as well as his head, leaving nothing but stress and anxiety behind. he carried this exhaustion with him all day, through each class and down the sidewalk as he walked home. in this case, that happened to be jungkooks apartment.
"hey, i thought you'd be at the library after school?" the ravenette said after opening his apartment door, surprised to see his boyfriend standing there with tired eyes and a frown. "what's wrong?"
"i'm tired." taehyung said, stepping in and taking off his shoes.
"okay." was all jungkook said, leaving him at the door as he walked into his room and got a few things, leaving them on the bed and going back out to takes the brunettes hand. he pulled the boy into his room and gently pushed him on the bed, gesturing for taehyung to lift his arms. there was no resistance, his school shirt came off seconds later and jungkook put one of his own on taehyung instead. it was big and comfy and perfect nap material.
"lay down." jungkook said, pointing to the pillows and waiting for his boyfriend to listen before helping him out of his jeans as well.
once they were both comfy, jungkook only left one more time to go get juice boxes from the kitchen before climbing into bed with the older boy. "drink." he said.
"thank you." taehyung mumbled, sucking on the straw and closing his eyes as the cold liquid streamed down his throat. his head was on jungkooks chest, moving closer into his side as he tried to press against him even more, if that was even possible.
the ravenette played with the boys hair, just laying with him and not speaking. he wasn't sure what taehyung wanted, if that was to sleep or to talk about what was obviously on his mind. "are you okay?" jungkook decided to ask. it was hard to stay silent sometimes.
"i don't know."
"do you want to talk about it?" he tried again. a silent taehyung was concerning, especially since he always had something to say. it was hard to see, his baby so quiet and bothered and seemingly unwilling to talk to him about it.
taehyung had his eyes closed, head against his boyfriends chest and listening to his heartbeat, hoping it would calm him enough. "talking about it out loud means it's actually happening." his voice was so quiet, jungkook barely heard him.
"baby," he whispered back, fingers still combing gently through his hair, "i can't help you if you don't tell me what's going on."
they were silent again for some time, maybe ten minutes, before taehyung felt like his head was going to explode and he was pushing the sheets off his legs to go get his laptop. jungkook didn't chase him, he sipped his juice box and waited for the boy to come back.
taehyung sat down and crossed his legs, his boyfriend copying him as he watched the older open his laptop and click on the tabs to pull them up on the screen.
"you started your applications, that's good tae." jungkook said, looking over the screen and starting to read some of the lines of script. "this one is for," he trailed off trying to find which university taehyung decided he wanted to go to. the boy was smart and talented enough to get into about anymore, that's what he thought at least.
"mhm," taehyung just bit on his thumb nail and watched the youngers face as he read. he was just so handsome, why did he have to frown?
"zokei university." jungkook said, an odd feeling settling in the pit of his stomach as he kept reading and happened to be smarter then he gave himself credit for. "that's in tokyo."
"mhm." taehyung just hummed again.
the ravenette didn't know what to say to that. it didn't change anyways, he already knew his boyfriend was going to college, this was a good thing. "that's cool baby, we can order takeout and stay in tonight so you can finish these up." he smiled over at the older boy, but it was tight, and hard not to waver. "besides, i've heard tokyo has some fire breakfast cafes."
"you wouldn't come with me kook." taehyung cut him off before his mind started on its ramble of impossible ideas and adventures. this couldn't be one of them, and he knew his boyfriend too well to think realistically.
jungkook licked his lips, he didn't realize his heart was beating faster. "where ever you go i go." he said.
taehyung showed a little smile at that, knowing every word of that was true and genuine coming from the younger. "not this time. i cant ask you leave everything behind for me." he said, and if he didn't keep speaking he knew his boyfriend would argue, "besides, i might not even get in. we don't have to worry about it now."
jungkook nodded, biting down a little harder on his lip and holding the brunettes hand a little tighter. "can we still order takeout?" he asked.
taehyung chuckled and closed the top of his laptop, he knew they'd talk about this again, but that was for another night. "of course, you can't put that idea in my head and not feed me now." he said, giving the boy a light shove.
"okay true." jungkook grinned and got out of bed, his boyfriend following as they walked out to the kitchen and opened the drawer that had all the takeout menus. taehyung wrapped his arms around the youngers waist from behind, resting his forehead against the boys back.
jungkook smiled softly to himself, taking out a few menus and reading off random items until he got a response.
this is how is should be. the two of them in one home, being together and only thinking of the other in this moment. this is how i should be, but sometimes that's not how it can be.
