the apartment erupted in an echo of laughter as the door swung open and the two boys stumbled in. each carried a cardboard box filled to the top with various personal belongings, some were clothes and the other had more fragile items like plates and cups.

"you told me you liked sushi." bogum was practically wheezing by this point, he was trying to carry the box and look at the picture he took of his roommate back at the restaurant.

"i do!" taehyung argued back, it was a playful bicker and the two boys seemed to hit off better then expected. "i just didn't know you ordered the firecracker kind, it was way too spicy." he was pouting now, remembering the taste on his tongue and the burn down his throat. bogum was too busy laughing his ass off to help get water, plus he really needed to take a picture of the poor boys face.

their giggles quieted down, boxes being left by the door while leftovers made their way to the collection already started in the fridge. it was getting close to midnight, and taehyung just now remembered what he promised to do. "shit, i was suppose to call my mom." he said, grabbing his coat and trying to find his phone in the pocket.

"my mom is expecting to hear from me too." bogum said while checking his phone as well.

as if she read his mind, taehyungs phone lit up and his mother's name flashed across the screen. his brows furrowed for a moment, she usually didn't facetime him, he's not even sure she knew how to do that. shrugging, taehyung hit the answer button, waiting a second before seeing his mothers face full the screen.

the angle was low, showing mostly her chin and reading glasses perched on the edge of her nose. "is it working?" her voice was quiet, "honey can you hear me?" she asked a lot louder.

taehyung smiled and held his own phone up a bit higher to show his face well, "yeah, hey mom it's working."

he didn't know she had a guest sitting beside her on the couch, the boy was way too quiet and peeking over, scared that the sound of his heart beating so rapidly could be heard through the phone. the ravenette didn't realize how much he missed his voice.

"oh this is neat." mrs. kim was smiling wide, holding her phone up more and laughing a bit at the way technology has came. "you look so nice sweetie, did you eat well?" she asked.

taehyung nodded and fixed his bangs, a habit to keep his hands busy. "yeah we just got back, there was a sushi place not too at away."

"oh that's nice, i made some kebabs and had some just now." she was still smiling, and the extreme giddiness didn't go unnoticed by her son. he even raised an eyebrow, just nodding and watching his mother curiously, "why are you being weird." he asked.

"kim taehyung be nice." she said, and it was that tone that he knew would've been followed with a light smack to the back of his head. "like i said, i had kebabs."

"you had kebabs." taehyung repeated what his mother said, going to sit at the island of the kitchen and rest his elbow while holding up the phone. bogum was snacking on some more sushi while listening, a small smile on his face. taehyung noticed this and reached over for a chopstick to throw at him.

"want to know what else i have here?" she asked.

"hm," taehyung hummed, listening a bit but still focused on throwing things at his roommate to make him stop giggling and listening in on the conversation.

"ta da!" his mom yelled a bit too loudly, coming out staticky through the phone. the screen blurred for a second with how fast she moved it to reveal the person sitting beside her, but his face appeared, messy bangs and pretty teeth. "hey," jungkook said in that raspy voice.

"jungkook?" taehyung froze and immediately whipped his head back at his phone. for a second he couldn't believe that the boy was sitting with his mother on their couch at this time of night. "what are you doing?"

"kebabs." jungkook held up one of the sticks, mrs. kim was still holding the phone towards him and leaning over to peek into the side of the screen. "we're having a sleep over without you." she added.

"you know i love kebabs." taehyung pouted.

"i'll eat twice as much just for you." jungkook smiled. it was good to see him, his fluffy brown hair and tan skin, everything looking just as good as when he left. jungkooks heart was still beating rapidly, gosh what this boy did to him.

"did she make the noodles?" taehyung asked.

jungkook of course nodded, "those were gone first, remember the first time i came for dinner and practically inhaled all of them?"

the brunettes head tilted back as he laughed, simply recalling the memory made his heart swell and the smile of the younger boy through the phone made it even better. "god i swear you stopped breathing for a second." taehyung said. he looked up and saw how bogum had gone back to eating the sushi, he seemed to be politely not listening in any more.

"hey mom," he decided to say, throwing another chopstick at bogum until he looked up, waving the boy over. "i want you to meet someone."

"who?" jungkook asked.

"ta da!" the brunette mimicked his mother and held the phone further out so his roommate fit in the screen as well. "this is bogum, my roommate."

"oh it's nice to meet you!" mrs. kim beamed, more then happy that her son had someone in the apartment finally and he wouldn't be living alone. that was the one thing she didn't want, and bogum looked like a nice boy.

"nice to meet you too." bogum politely smiled and bowed a little.

they started to talk, his mother asking normal questions about school and family while taehyung listened and occasionally piped in to add a comment about their night out.

what wasn't strange was the sudden lack of response from the raven haired male. he sat on the couch and just watched. at first jungkook was irritated, seeing the two boys stand so close despite that just being to fit in the screen of the facetime. then he realized it didn't matter, because his love was right there, looking so perfect and sounding so angelic.

jungkook suddenly wasn't annoyed, but instead took this moment to drown out everything else that wasn't taehyung. he stared at the way his bangs sat nicely over his forehead, ending just over strong eyebrows set over soft brown eyes that he could stare at forever, the gently slope of his nose down to pretty lips stretched into his favorite smile. jungkook just stared, and soon he smiled too.

it was like a trance, one that had him stuck and lost in thought until mrs. kim nudged his arm gently. "it's getting late and you should get some sleep." she told her son through the phone.

taehyung nodded, and jungkook just now realized that the roommate had left and it was just the three of them again.

"oh, uh," the younger cleared his throat and felt his cheeks warm nothing how taehyung was already looking at him. "it was nice talking to you." i miss you, his mind screamed at him to say it.

"yeah, it was nice." taehyung also said with a nod, "goodnight guys, i love you mom."

"i love you too sweetie, goodnight." mrs. kim said her goodbye before ending the facetime. "well that was nice."

jungkook just nodded and leaned back against the cushions of the couch. he's not quite sure what he felt at the moment, there was a bit of sadness there, but that seemed to always linger nowadays. "i'll just clean this up and you go up to sleep, use taehyungs room since there's clean sheets on the bed and some clothes left in the drawers." she started to reach for the plates of food but jungkook stopped her.

"no please, let me clean up." he smiled politely, and it took a bit more of convincing before she said goodnight and went upstairs to her own room.

jungkook luckily knew his way around the house, quickly cleaning up the dishes and putting them back in the cabinet. it was a little odd to be going up into taehyungs room when he wasn't here, and when they weren't together anymore.

maybe for tonight he could just pretend. he could take off his shirt and those uncomfortable jeans, crawling into the bed and enveloping himself in the sheets that smelled like taehyung. he could pretend like he was there, and they were together. he could pretend for one night that he wasn't going to wake up alone tomorrow.
