~Saturday~

I yawned as I waited for the other members of the Archery team here at the N Central District, the center of the Archery tournaments here in Kyoto. I am waiting on the south staircase near the South entrance. Few players already passed by, but no one from our team.

I arrived two hours early, just in case, since I felt something weird. I told Sayaka, and she couldn't help but laughed at me

"That happened after all, so I can't blame you not to worry"

True, these past two days lots of things happened. But then, coming here so early was a crazy idea. There was not much of people

"You sure are crazy for coming here this early." I blinked fast since I heard the words I was thinking "Well, after talking back to your coach, winning against the boys team members, who will join the individual competition, you couldn't help but make sure that your coach will register your team."

I blinked fast and it made me wide awake, seeing this guy here, early this morning!

"Why are you here, Akashi?! Didn't I tell you not to come here?! Also, how did you know about that?!" I asked one after another but he just smirk, and looked at me with victorious smile.

"Having a bias coach, arrogant archers, angry teammate with an unknown reason, you sure are surviving, (f/n)"

"..."

He really knows.

"And you let your two classmates to go undercover in your own store. Everything was amazingly stupid"

"... did you just come here to mock us?! If you are, then you aren't needed. I don't need you to be here"

"Don't get too ahead of yourself. I had reasons and I was invited to come here. I didn't come here to watch you or whatsoever. Or do you want me to?"

I glared at him and his heterochromatic eyes didn't falter at all

Because of this guy, it reminded me what happened these past two days.

~Flashback~

Standing with girls team, our coach' eyes were only looking at the boys team. He introduced himself as Coach Okizawa Kyousuke-san, a supposed to be a National team archer before but decided to coach when he had an injury. He is a middle-aged man, with short mustache.

But he was just telling about his past, and even praised the boys team from participating in the camp, even welcomed the new members- in their team.

Forgetting about us. He is obviously a sexist!

"Well then, we'll start our club activities on Monday-"

"Coach" I interrupted him, and he turned to me, the smile on his face disappeared

"Yes? You just interrupted me, so make sure it's important"

"When is the preliminary round for the district tournament?" I asked and I could see his eyes widened, then he fixed his composure. Even some from boys team were surprised

"Preliminary?" Himeko-senpai asked "they didn't have that though"

"This year, each school can register more teams. So they will do preliminary rounds, for team and individuals to decrease the participants" I responded then turned to coach "then, when is it?"

"So you heard. It will be two weeks from now"

"..."

Akashi is right, this coach wasn't planning to inform the girl's team.

Not at all!

"Two weeks, huh? I think we can prepare by then" Mitsuki-senpai crossed her arms, but she showed uneasiness

"Don't worry about the girl's team" I stated and had an enigmatic smile "the girls team will pass the preliminary round in both team and individual part. Don't worry about us, we'll make it even though the preliminary is on weekend"

"This weekend?!" Mitsuki-senpai and Himeko-senpai shouted at the same time

"The boy's team know about it and were doing their best to practice this week" I chuckled, making coach and the boy's team looked at me in grimace "what? Don't look at me like that. The girls team this year will win the National, unlike the boys team that couldn't even win the regional competition"

"You sure are overconfident of yourself" one from the boys team turned to me, crossing his arms in annoyance "Don't get too ahead of yourself. The girls team never win the prefectural tournament."

"Before" I retorted. Good thing I know Akashi, I got immune with this kind of attitude, I mean he is scarier and more intimidating. This kind of reproach is nothing "in my opinion, I am worried to your team, you might not pass the district tournament"

"(F/n)-chan, don't raise the hurdle on our team too much" Himeko-senpai nervously told me. Even Sayaka

"But they are pissing me off. Think about it, if coach didn't tell us, then it's the end for the girl's team. We needed to have 5 members or more, but even if we get five, we still needed to win, or else we will be removed. A fail coach wanted us to leave this place"

"F-fail... coach?!" Okizawa-san shouted "you are just first year! And you are planning to participate! You will tarnish the name of Rakuzan!"

"We'll do something about the girls team. I'll join the individual tournament" I looked at Sayaka and she also nodded

"Me too"

"I will join too" the girl that was glaring at me also responded

"You are just first years-"

"But if one from the boy's team, it's okay?" I asked this coach and he kept quiet "the girls team will plan our shooting order. You just need to register us, in both team and individual tournament"

"Then tomorrow" Coach started and glared at me "we'll have individual battle, point system. If you win against them, then I will register you. If you lose, then immediately disband the girl's archery club"

"I understand"

"Oi!" The girl's team immediately stopped me

"But if we win, you will be our coach until we find someone who will replace you" I put my right hand over my waist, and looked back at him "you are a fail coach because of your bias opinions, and being a sexist"

"I couldn't help but agree" Sayaka and the two first year members commented at the same time

"Well then, we'll see you tomorrow. The girls team will have our own meeting now" I bowed down then turned to Mitsuki-senpai and the others "Let's go"

We left the club room, and when we arrived in the school's gate, I immediately bowed down

"I'm sorry!"

"Eh? Why all of a sudden?" Mitsuki-senpai asked

I stood straight and looked at them, since I really felt wrong now that we were outside

"I shouldn't act like that, but I really got irritated. Moreover, the fact that the guy I hate was right pissed me more" I sighed and lowered my head "that coach and the members' attitude were annoying"

"Well, we are thankful that you speak out. In any case, let's talk in our shrine temple" Mitsuki-senpai chuckled "we have shooting range there as well, and we can talk what we should do"

~

I was surprised that there was a shrine temple near our school. As expected from Kyoto.

Anyways, we are in the shooting area behind the shrine. We were sitting on the floor, and Mitsuki-senpai's mother served snacks for us

"Then, we need to decide for the other. Though we don't know yet how great you are" Mitsuki-senpai started

"I am a newbie so you can count me out." One of the new firsr years responded "ah, by the way, I am Yamamura Fujiko. I was invited by Rio. Since I didn't have any particular club to enter in, I joined"

"Let's decide tomorrow who will shoot last" The girl named Rio followed, and again looked at me "I don't care about the boys team, but let's see who will get more points tomorrow"

"Uhm, I've been wanting to ask this, but why are you glaring at me?" I asked and the ambiance became awkward

"Count me out of your competition" Sayaka suddenly spoke "my goal right now is to win in the preliminary round, team and individual. But before that, I'll win against the boys team. You can put me as the 2nd, 3rd of 4th, I don't mind."

"I also don't mind the order I will shoot" I also added "but it's indeed important to know who will shoot first and last. We know how things work, so we can practice after that as well"

"Himeko and I also don't mind. We can practice here as well if coach didn't want to. But if Rio-chan wanted to decide tomorrow then let's do that. Though can you really win?" Mitsuki-senpai worriedly looked at us

"We'll win" the three of us responded.

~present time~

And indeed we won, and currently looking for new coach. We overwhelmingly won against the boys team.

I sighed remembering what happened yesterday, but then this guy here just chuckled.

Why is here anyways?!

But not long after, one from his sets arrived with a big wide smile.

"Seijuro! Sorry for the wait!" Ishikawa shouted, waving his hand, then stopped when he noticed me "ahre?! You are also here? Why are you here-? Don't tell me, you followed Seijurou?!"

I crossed my eyes and glared at him, but to my surprise

"She's the rival that I've been telling you." Another question...

Why is Minagawa Rio with Ishikawa Jiro?! I looked at them suspiciously, and he didn't care at all. Today as well, Minagawa had her hair styled a two buns, Chinese-style. She's cute, but she seems hate me.

To why? I still don't know

Anyways-

"Minagawa, are you really okay for the result?" I asked and she sighed, gazing away

"I can't help it right? You won"

"But as I said, I really don't mind which order I am in" I retorted but she scowled at me "you really hate me"

"She just feel bitter for always losing against you during National tournament before, and you seems don't remember her" Akashi chuckled on the side, and he seemed mocking her

"Ehh.. is that so?!" I asked in surprised, which Minagawa glared at Akashi now

"Don't look at me like that, Rio. I am just saying the truth. Someone is always above you" Akashi stated then smirk

"Sorry, we met before but didn't realize it" I told Minagawa but she looked at me, well, still with cold ice "sorry..."

"You don't need to apologize to Rio" Ishikawa laughed "she never won after all, and she just felt the one sided rivalry"

"Here I thought you'll be by yourself" we looked towards that approaching voice, and even before I called her

"Sayaka-chan~!" Ishikawa beat me to it "you are also here! We're really meant to each other!"

"Why are you even here?! Get lost!" Sayaka retorted in annoyance

"I found out that Rio will be having a tournament today, so I am here. I invited Seijurou as well. Are you part of the archery team as well?!" He excitedly responded "Rio, she will be your future sister-in-law"

"I will not"

"Wahhh... You like this guy here? My condolence" Minagawa looked at Sayaka with pitiful look

"Nope, I don't even know him." Sayaka retorted then approached me, pointing at her bag "my mom prepared lunch for you as well"

"Thank you"

"Don't worry Sayaka-chan, we'll know each other from now on." Wahh, Ishikawa is so positive "like, Rio and I are twins, but our crazy parents divorced, but recently got back together."

"..." Sayaka and I looked at him in surprised, well surely from what he said, but why all of a sudden

"Wow, you just blurted out our family situation." Minagawa looked at us then crossed her arms and continued "Well, it's not that we are hiding it. We are indeed twins, but we were living separately until our parents got back together. I am using my mother's last name, and will use it until graduation still." She told Sayaka

"We are surprised, but I think you don't need to tell us that though" Sayaka told her but Minagawa

"I am clearing up some early suspicious. I don't want you to misunderstand things between me and Jiro"

"Rio is right. I don't want you to misunderstand things. There will be others who will make issue because they don't know the truth. So-"

"Right, (f/n). Did you bring the string I asked you?" Sayaka wasn't listening at all

"Yeah, I did."

"Then let's go. Rio as well. Let's go find a bench and wait the others there" Sayaka told her then she went ahead first, Minagawa following her behind

"Ah, wait, Sayaka-chan! I'll hold your stuffs!" And Ishikawa followed her

"Wait, my stuffs-" I also told her, but as I looked behind to get my stuffs, it wasn't there! "My stuf-" as I said that, Akashi passed in front of me, already holding my stuffs "w-wait, Akashi! My stuffs!"

I ran to him and wanted to get my stuffs back, but he wasn't responding at all.

"Yah! Akashi Seijurou!"

"Can't you just walk quietly?" He retorted as he looked at me "I'll bring this there, so just walk quietly" then he left again

"...why though...?" I mumbled, still complying to his order. Well, I got intimidated by his voice

We found a bench near the main entrance, and there waited for the others. Sayaka and Minagawa both checking their bows, strings and equipments. As for me, well, I already checked them last night.

Not long after, senpais and Minagawa's friend, Yamamura, the other new first year, arrived.

We stayed there for couple of minutes, until we decided to wait for coach in the registration booth.

But when we arrived there, coach and the boys team just left the registration booth, heading towards inside.

"Did they register us?" Himeko-senpai asked then we hurriedly went to the registration booth

"Excuse me, did someone register our school?" Mitsuki-senpai asked the staff in charge

"Which school?"

"Rakuzan"

He checked the list then smiled at them "the team registered here is the boys team from Rakuzan"

"That freaking coach!" I shouted and was about to leave when Akashi grabbed my shoulder, stopping me from leaving "Akashi!"

"Calm down, don't cause a scene" he retorted in a calm tone

"But-"

"Calm down"

"But if we don't go-" I closed my mouth as Akashi's heterochromatic eyes looked at me.

"Sorry for the wait" we all turned towards that voice and an old man, with our homeroom teacher? Why are they here?"

"Watanabe-sensei!" Himeko-senpai and Mitsuki-senpai called him

Us four first years looked at them questionably

"Ah, right, you four haven't met him. He is Watanabe Yoshino-sensei. The archery club advisor" Mitsuki-senpai introduced him. We bowed down to him as he smiled back to us "sensei, this is?"

"This is Kuwabe Kaito-kun, the homeroom advisor of class 1-A, and your new coach" Watanabe-sensei introduced him. We all looked at Kuwabe-sensei and also excitedly bowed down. "Though for today, I'll be the one registering you since Kuwabe-sensei is not yet registered as your coach"

"Nice to meet you. You will see me in school that if you have any questions, just find me. I played Archery before, and my fiancé is also an archer player, so she can help you as well."

"Thank you sensei!"

"Well then, let's register you before I go and tell the other coach that today is his last day"

~

I stood outside the registration booth, waiting for Watanabe-sensei to finished registering us. He is with our 2 senpai and Kuwabe-sensei. Sayaka and Minagawa with her friend Yamamura and twin brother Ishikawa were talking in front of me, and Akashi.

I was standing cnext to Akashi, who was still carrying my archery stuffs

"Did you know about this?" I asked him and I was surprised that he normally responded

"Yeah, I know"

"Thank you then" I gazed away and I heard him sighed "yeah, yeah, yeah, you just wanted for the Rakuzan team to win so you couldn't help but do it"

"I didn't say anything"

"Your reaction just now said everything"

"Don't pretend as if you know me"

"Why are you even here?!" I hissed since he got into my nerve once again.

"A senpai I know asked me to do something about the girls archery team. Also, I wanted to see some reunion"

"You? Someone asked you? As if someone can ask you to do something for them. That doesn't make any sense"

"I don't care what you think" he retorted "but don't you dare loose now that everything is clear" he gave me my stuffs and again warned me "getting injured is also prohibited!"

"...wow... just how hard the hurdle you are giving us?!"

"Jiro, let's go!" He called him then left.

I watched him left, while Ishikawa was complaining, but still followed him.

I don't understand his intentions, but I honestly appreciate that he came here. It would be nice if he stayed here to watch. But well, that's Akashi Seijurou. As if he would stay here.

I sighed but then noticed Sayaka, Minagawa, and Yamamura looking at me

"..what?" I asked them, then noticed Sayaka and Yamamura looking at me with a teasing smile

"Are you and Seijurou-sama dating?" Minagawa questioned and I immediately shook my head

"No, we are not. We are enemies"

"Really? It doesn't look like you are enemies though" Yamamura commented

"Give up, Seijurou-sama already have a a fiancè, an annoying stalker, and hundreds of fans. Don't join them" followed by Minagawa, shaking her head, looking at me with pitiful eyes

"I am not" I sighed and good thing sensei and the others were already done, so we went inside and find the other freaking coach!

Though we went around, we couldn't find them. Seems like they hid so they didn't want to register us at all. Oh well, it will be his last coaching day anyways.

Anyways, the girls team changed to our Rakuzan jersey. Since it's preliminary round, we don't need to wear our official hakama. School jersey is enough for now. Also, individual tournament would commence inside instead, and only the coach and/or the school advisor, and three staff committee members would be there. They would do points system. We would shoot 5 arrows, so the highest would be 50 points.

"We'll go next now" I heard Mitsuki-senpai said "there will be another school with us. But well, let see if we will pass this preliminary round. You know the rules and how it works. It's not point system. This time, we need to be part of top 20, and to be part of that, we need to at least shoot 18 out of 20. Are you confident you can shoot all of your four arrows?"

"Yes" Minagawa, Sayaka and I answered at the same time

"I hope I have your confidence" Himeko-senpai chuckled "are you even nervous?"

"It's just preliminary round." Minagawa made a peace sign

"Let's stay calm, and we will win." Sayaka giggled "I am actually excited. This is my first tournament with (f/n) in the same team. Even Rio! We were rivals during middle school, but now we are in one team! Then we have our two senpais here"

"You really are so positive Sayaka" I chuckled

"Well then, I will be with Kuwabe-sensei in the audience. Watanabe-sensei will be with you" Yamamura told us then worriedly looked at us, precisely, she is more nervous than us

~

Not long after, my first tournament in high school, with my new team started. I would lie if I say I am not nervous, but, I am actually calm.

As we entered the shooting area, in which, I was the first one that entered, we noticed the boys team with coach on the bench, and their eyes were wide open. I heard Sayaka chuckled a little, it seems she noticed them too.

Once we arrived on our spot, we face forward, then face towards right. We sat down and waited for the official to start our preliminary round.

As I sat at the very end, I could only see Sayaka's back. Strangely, it made me calm down. As I took a deep breathe, I heard the official telling us to start.

I saw Minagawa stood up. Watching her in her shooting routine, I could clearly see her beautiful form. After her, Mitsuki-senpai stood up as she would shoot 2nd, then Himeko-senpai, Sayaka, then me.

The first one would shoot, then the next one would follow. As long as we don't overlap each other, it doesn't matter if we are fast or slow.

Once Minagawa shoot, we could here the audience voice, cheering a loud "Yosh", indicating that the shot was made. Well more like, Kuwabe-sensei, Yamamura, and Ishikawa's voice.

After Minagawa's turn, Mitsuki-senpai also did her shot, and made it, followed by Himeko-senpai.

Once I saw Sayaka pulled the string of her bow, I took aim to the target. Once Sayaka made her shot, for some reason, I heard Akashi's voice. I mean, I remembered what he did and told me before. As I pulled the string, I moved my hand a bit to the right, moved the string closer to my chest, making sure that my right elbow is alined to my left arm, took a deep breath, calming myself.

As I released it, a beautiful sound was produced and it hit the center ring. I heard not just sensei and the others, but the other audiences exclaimed in surprised.

I felt satisfied with that one shot, but I needed to calm myself first. As I moved back to my initial position then loaded a new arrow, my conscious turned towards the red hair guy sitting among crowds. I knew he was there when I heard Ishikawa's voice, plus his presence was so huge after all. I though he left though.

But, was it my imagination. He was looking straight at me. No, probably because I just finished my first shot, my very first shot in high school tournament. I shouldn't loose my focus.

I took a deep breathe, calmed myself, and refocus myself to the target.

"Congratulations!" Yamamura shouted as she ran towards us "I was moved by your performances! And to think I'll be seeing a perfect score, individual and team."

"It was frustrating though" Himeko-senpai hissed "the last shot I did barely make it."

"It was still a shot" Mitsuki-senpai patted her "we still passed through the preliminary round. Now, we need to prepare for the district tournament"

"We still have for the individual round later. But we still don't know when will be our turn" I reminded them

"It's already up." We looked at Watanabe-sensei and he handed the paper to us. We looked at it, and saw that the three of us would be at 2 in the afternoon, with Sayaka going first, Minagawa, then me, and we would be having 10-15 minutes interval

"Ah right, did the boys team made it?" I curiously asked Watanabe-sensei

"They registered two teams from Rakuzan and only one team was able to pass, so the members on that team are the only ones who can continue. This is one thing during preliminary round, the team you registered will be your team for this season, and you can only have two names on the substitution slot." Watanabe-sensei explained then his eyes changed. We looked behind and the boys team arrived

"How did you register for the tournament?!" Those were his words to greet us

"I registered them" Watanabe-sensei was the one who responded "along with the new Archery club's coach."

"Huh?!"

"This will be your last time being a coach. We thought that girls team members weren't good, but it's just this year we found out the way you treat the girls team." Sensei stood in front of us, smiling towards Coach Okizawa, then patted his shoulder "so, good luck in coaching the boys team so far. You have until tomorrow"

"Wait sensei! We can't-" the boys team tried to retort but sensei looked at them

"I think you aren't allowed to complain when you went to the practice camp, then one team barely passed and one that didn't pass. You can't complain against the girls team who didn't have practice, just formed yesterday, and yet got perfect shot" Watanabe-sensei smiled at them, but why does teachers from Rakuzan are freaking scary? "So accept it. There will be changes along with your new coach, Kuwabe Kaito-sensei."

"Aren't you my homeroom teacher?" Ohh, a classmate from 1-A?!

"I am indeed your homeroom teacher" Kuwabe-sensei responded at him with a smile "I will coach the boys team starting Monday. For now, focus on the individual preliminary round"

The tension between was obviously suffocating. Someone need to break this heavy ambiance-

"Sayaka~chan~!" Speaking of someone who could do it, Ishikawa just arrived in good timing, immediately ran towards Sayaka "Congratulations in passing the preliminary round! Good luck on the individual tournament"

"Shut up!" Ah, Sayaka is as cold to him as ever

"Your team was the only team who scored perfect score, furthermore, each archers shoot at least one inner ring score! That was crazy!" Ishikawa turned to his twin sister and chuckled "you told me you would shoot perfect score. But well, 2 out of 4 isn't bad"

"Shut up! Get lost! Go away!!" Minagawa angrily told him, but Ishikawa just laughed

I sighed and turned to Akashi, who was looking at the boys team. He then moved towards them and I was surprised to what he said

"The school principal had told me that only the team that passed the preliminary round can use the archery club. The rest will use the former shooting area, and will practice with different coach. They could only enter the main building during meeting"

"What the heck is that?!" The members who didn't pass complained

"Wait a minute, Akashi-kun" Watanabe-sensei stopped him "Don't drop the news all of a sudden"

"It's now or later, and it's easy to say now so those who registered for individual, but didn't pass the team round can do their best and pass the individual preliminary round." Akashi explained and I sighed. Somehow, he planned things out

"What kind of craziness was that?!" The boys team again complained

"If your coach registered the girls team, this won't happen. If he didn't register, then those who would pass the preliminary round can practice in the main archery club. Well, only this season. Next season, we might have different members in the main building." Akashi chuckled then turned around "well then, good luck later. I'll take my leave now"

"Ehh?! You are leaving already?!" Ishikawa shouted "they have afternoon part still"

"Individual will commence inside." Akashi looked back and he looked at me "means other players and audience can't watch them" as he said that, he smirked then left

I gazed aways and clicked my tongue in annoyance. He knew! Probably when he carried my stuffs. He knew I brought two bows.

"Sayaka, I'll just go to the bathroom" I excused myself and left the farce with the boys team.

That afternoon, among the three of us, Sayaka went first with Kuwabe-sensei and Watanabe-sensei. Minagawa and I were waiting outside for our turn. The other archers were also there, a bit far from us

"Your equipment is different from this morning" Minagawa said in low voice "its for left handers"

"Yeah, only for preliminary round" I responded "since no one would see anyways."

"Then what are you going to do after? Right hand?"

"Yeah, I'll just use left now so I can pass. Then I will use left if I know that I can't win using my right" I answered and I heard her chuckled

"To think that all those years you won, you were using right hand. What a horrible feeling"

"It's not that I used my right before all the time. I was using left still, until I noticed and realized things. Then, I am using my right hand because it's better to have options. Also to challenge myself" I explained then looked towards the door since Sayaka just came out with Watanabe-sensei

"Minagawa-kun, you are next"

Minagawa went inside as Sayaka was having a big wide smile and a peace

"How was it?" I asked and she hugged me

"They will announced once everything is done. I don't know how many they will get, but I hope I can pass" she sighed loudly and chuckled dryly "I did my best still, but when I was inside by myself, it was different"

"You did your best" I patted her back and we just stayed like that until Minagawa returned, and it was my turn.

I entered the inside shooting arena, and  indeed only three committee members, Kuwabe-sensei and Watanabe-sensei.

"Archer number 12, (l/n) (f/n)-san from Rakuzan High. Follow me" one of the committee members led me to where I should stand and explained that all I needed to do is to shoot five arrows, and the timing would be decided by me "Were you the one who shoot perfect score from Rakuzan?!" he asked in awe

"Yes"

"It's been a while since we saw such thing. Anyways, good luck."

I smiled and stood straight as I looked towards the shooting targer. I took a deep breathe then had my stance. I heard their whispering voices, seemed surprised since I was facing towards left.

I loaded my arrow, took aimed, pulled the string, and released. And repeated it again four times.

Once I shooted five arrows, I faced them then bowed down. There was a moment of silence, until they stood up and clapped. I could see their expressions, they were all astonished, even Watanabe-sensei and Kuwabe-sensei.

"That was splendid! For a first year to shoot perfect score in both team and individual! And also both right and left handed archery! That was splendid!" They complimented me

I awkwardly smiled as I went to Watanabe-sensei and Kuwabe-sensei

"(L/n), do you know (l/n) Daisuke-san?" Kuwabe-sensei suddenly asked

"..."

"He was the reason why I started archery. I had been following him for all I remember, I also met my now fiancé because of him."

"Ohh, is he your fiancé's coach now?" Watanabe-sensei curiously queried as we excused ourselves out of the shooting area

"No. I was only 10 that time, and there was a problem in our family. I haven't seen him for more than 20 years."

"Your family?" This time it was me who asked him

"Yeah, he is my cousin and he is like an older brother to me. When his parents died in an accident, he lived with us. But he left when he had a big fight with my father" he chuckled then slightly bowed down "sorry for telling about my family. But when I saw your form a while ago, it reminded me of him"

I awkwardly smiled once again as I opened the door

"It's totally fine. Now the mystery why I thought you looked familiar has been answered" I responded and then looked at him "you are my dad's cousin."

"Eh?"

I approached Sayaka and Minagawa, as Kuwabe-sensei followed me behind, asking me to explain
