CH24: She's here
Sylvia's POV:
2 days had passed. I am currently sitting on a bench by the hospital lobby. Staffs carrying patients via wheelchair or a gurney flooded the busy corridors.
I leaned down a bit, cupping my face with both hands as I sighed depressingly. I can't sleep until now. Especially when Tyler is in critical condition.
Why him? I pondered inside my mind. Things are going from bad to worse. I'm restless. I have to do something.
Holly and Molly. I remembered how I found them crying inside the closet.
**********
I knelt down, crystal tears running down from my eyes as my gaze is glued to my brother who is unconscious. Blood kept trickling down from the large cut on his neck.
"Christ!" I heard Jarred's devastated voice from behind me. He then approached my brother, grabbing his wrist and placing his index finger on it.
He switched his gaze to me, hope is within his eyes. I smiled even just a little bit, knowing that Tyler is still alive for sure.
Jarred then pulled out his radio. "This is Carson, over."
Another voice is then heard from the other line. "Deputy Lartner. What's your status? over." The voice— Sarah, answered.
"We got a live one here. Barely breathing. He's bleeding a lot." Jarred stated while helping the medics mend my brother's severe wound.
I then remembered Holly and Molly. My feet automatically carried me out of the room. I went inside the master's bedroom. My ears detected the sound of the twins crying. I went over to a closet where the crying is heard.
I swung the door open, seeing the twins hugging each other tightly in fear. I noticed Molly has a cut from the side of her stomach. Same thing goes for Holly. They're both bleeding.
"Oh my god!" I screamed, pulling the twins out of the closet and hugged them tightly.
**********
From the core of my mind, I know their wounds weren't inflicted by the killer. Ever since Jarred had show me the cctv footage, I wasn't able to look at the twins the same way again.
The doctor finally came out of Tyler's room and went up to me. He greeted me with a smile on his face. I just forced myself with a smile, trying to conceal my grief.
"It's quite good news for you to know this kid, but your brother survived."
That was enough for me to let out a sigh of relief. I felt like thousands of glass shards were being removed out of my heart due to my sudden relief. For the minute, I already thought that I would lose my brother completely, but thank god it didn't happen. And I am wishing that it would stay like that.
"He got a pretty deep cut from the throat, but luckily we did the best to recover him from the major wound." The doctor explained while flipping pages from his clipboard. "He felt in a comatose state due to blood loss, but a kind gentleman offered his blood for transfusion since his blood is compatible for your brother to take. It's not 100% accurate, but it might take 1 week for him to wake up from his coma. The operation took 2 days for it to be finished, but it was worth it." The doctor explained further.
That made my eyebrows furrowed in confusion. I never asked for a blood transfusion. I am wondering who is the guy the doctor is referring to.
"Uhm, doc." I called him. "I was wondering. Who's the guy who did a blood transfusion for my brother?" I asked.
"Well, he said that you and your brother are a close friend of him. I didn't get his name completely, but his name is Jack Wisconsin, right?"
A surprised expression burst on my face, but that quickly changed into a calm one. I felt a smile crawling up to my lips.
"Yes. It's him." I replied, not taking my smile off of my face.
"Oh good. Anyway, I have other things to do if you'll excuse me. God bless your brother by the way." He said politely before walking away.
Never did I expect for Jack to do this act of generosity. Thank you Jack.
I cautiously went inside the room where Tyler is confined as of now. The first thing I saw is him resting on a comfy white bed, his eyes are closed and his body is still and motionless.
I can hear the calm beeping of his health monitor, which made me assure that he's stable. I walked up beside him and sat on a chair.
"How's it going buddy?" I said.
I felt a tear slowly running down to my face. I held Tyler's hand and squeezed it lightly. I'm really thankful for Jack. He even have to go through this just to help my brother. I couldn't asked for more.
It's just a good thing that Tyler is still alive and breathing. And I hope it stays like that.
"You'll be better soon. I miss you big brother."
I sighed before standing up to my feet. I took a last glance over Tyler before walking out of the room in silence.

3rd Person's POV:
Wiping a tear away, Chantelle quietly walks down the busy hospital hallways while carrying a bouquet of white roses. She stopped in front of a door, which leads to a patient's room.
She took a deep breath, pushing the door open in a gentle movement. She went inside. The girl cupped her mouth with a hand, staring at a young man lying peacefully on a soft bed.
She approached the unconscious young man, placing a hand against his cheek.
"Tyler..." Chantelle muttered, not able to prevent herself from sobbing. She learned about what happened two days ago yesterday. It indeed left Chantelle in distraught.
The girl placed the white roses in an empty vase that is on a small table beside her. She sat beside Tyler's sleeping body, holding his motionless hand.
"I don't know what I am feeling every time I see you." Chantelle spoke, as if she's really talking to Tyler. "But I always felt butterflies in my stomach."
Certainly. Chantelle might be falling for Tyler already. But still, she's not sure.
"Life's unfair huh?" Chantelle said, quite bitterly. "Especially for you and your sister. Why do you guys even have to suffer so harshly?" She pondered.
With a sigh, Chantelle stood up to her feet and started walking away from Tyler's unconscious body. She opened the door, but then stopped. Chantelle took one last glance to Tyler, smiling as she says- "You and your sister will get through this soon..."
——————————————————
I drove by without making any sound. Nothing but ghost streets here in Diamond field. I didn't mind it though. I'm more used to silent and non-crowded places.
It's already 3:30 in the afternoon, and I'm heading towards Crystal wake to fetch Holly and Molly.
The elementary students are the only ones who had regular classes, unlike the high school students' 5 week break.
I stopped by in front of the large entrancd. I can see tons of young kids happily skipping out of the gate. I finally saw the twins happily running out of the gate with wide smiles plastered onto their lips.
I smiled quite sadly from this sight. I remember what Jarred had shown to me at the police department. I can't bare the fact that one of them is the true killer. It's just too hard to accept the truth.
Even if I tried my best to shrug off the feeling, I cannot look at the two identical girls the same way again.
"Hey Sylvy!" I was.snapped back into reality by the sound of Holly hollering out my name.
The twins got in the car with a bright and cheerful vibe within them.
"Are we going to visit Tyler?" Holly asked cheerfully.
I faked a smile, not wanting to show them how I really feel right now. "Maybe in thursday." I answered.
"We already got like 10 stars in class! Best school day ever!" Molly exclaimed before showing me a clean paper with 10 stars attached to it.
"Wow! Good job for the both of you. You guys are really doing well in school." I complimented them while smiling, trying to ignore the thing that is bothering my mind previously.
"That means ice cream for dinner!" Holly chirped from the back.
"Not until you guys eat the main dish for dinner." I happily retorted back at them.
"Ugh! no fair Sylvia." Molly groaned before pouting.
"Yeah, I mean you're the one who eats almost half of the ice cream in the container Sylvy." Holly added while pouting also.
"No I don't." I decline to Holly's statement, trying to act innocent as possible.
"Says the girl who always sneaks for the ice cream in the fridge at night." Molly jokingly stated before rolling her eyes playfully.
This made us all earn a laugh at one another.
Even if I laugh, it's not genuine. I can't see Holly and Molly as fun and loving siblings anymore...

5:00 PM
I am changing my clothes in my room right now. I put on a black and white striped T- shirt and a pair of jeans. I also wore my favorite maroon hoodie since it was cold outside.
Chantelle had called me a while ago. She was asking me if it's ok that I can accompany her in a grocery store for the night. I was quite surprised to learn that the grocery store is owned by her older brother.
You may be wondering, why is she working at her brother's store in the first place? Well it turns out that Chantelle's brother was out sick today. He's suffering from severe indigestion, which in turn won't make him able to take charge of the store.
I felt bad for Chantelle, and I hate to decline her favor. In the end, I accepted her request.
"Goodluck Sylvia!" The twins bide their farewell to me.
I didn't call Tara to watch over Holly and Molly. I'm not gonna risk it, not after I already know the truth. I just instructed them of what they have to do while I'm gone.
Back to the present. Here I am walking on the road that leads to the quiet town of Diamond Field.
The store is only like 2 blocks away, so it shouldn't be long before I get there.
I have finally arrived around the town square. I couldn't help myself feel uneasy to see the town seemingly deserted, unlike the previous times where I can see few pedestrians passing by.
I couldn't blame the residents of this town for locking their selves at home early, specifically around 5:30 before dark. And why is that? The news about the murders here already scattered like wildfire a long time ago.
It didn't took long, and I finally found the grocery store. I saw Chantelle waving from me in a distance. I waved back before letting out a flashy smile. I started jogging towards her.
"You finally came." She said while smiling.
I was quite shocked to see Chantelle's appearance. She looks really pale. And she has really visible dark bags under her eyes. And I noticed that she lost a bit of weight too. What happened to her?
" you look pale! Did you sleep well?" I asked in worriment as I placed a hand on her neck to see if she has a fever or something.
"Yeah. Just suffered from insomnia for 3 straight days." She replied in a calm voice.
"That's bad." I said.
"Yeah... anyway let's go in shall we?"
With a nod of my head, I followed Chantelle inside.

Chantelle's POV:
(Prior in meeting up with Sylvia.)
I don't know where I am. I'm just around a school's quadrangle. There's no one else around me aside from me and two young girls playing.
That's the thing that lefte me confused. Why are there two girls playing in a foggy weather like this?
I can feel the uneasiness wash over me as the foggy mist swirled around me in a slow but intimidating way.
"H-hey!" I called out to the two young girls with a stutter. They didn't seem to notice me. They didn't even bothered turning their attention to me.
Just then, a man suddenly came out of view and went towards the two girls.
"So you finally made a friend?" The man asked happily.
"Yes Dad! Meet Sheena. She is my best friend!" The 1st girl replied before pointing a finger to the 2nd girl.
Sheena? Then the other girl must be-
"Nice to meet you Sheena. Seems like you are enjoying playing with my daughter, Sylvia."
I just stood there in awe. Am I seeing all of this for real? But how?
Just then, Sheena took a sharp turn towards me. The next thing that happened is what I feared about.
Sheena stretched her lips, revealing a wide smile. The smile exposed a row of shark-like teeth. Blood started to ooze out of Sheena's mouth.
Her eyes started to roll in the back of her head, only revealing the white part of it.
My heart skipped a beat. I as left paralyzed to where I'm standing, obviously due to great fear. I want to run away, but my feet are frozen to their spot. I want to scream, but no voice came out.
I blinked, and in just a snap, Sheena's form is replaced by one of Sylvia's twin siblings.
The worst has come when the girl started running with menacing steps towards me.

"PLEASE GO AWAY!"
I jolt up from my bed with sweats dripping from the side of my head. I frantically looked around my ssurroundings, my breathing is rapid. Once I realized that nothing is around me, I lay back down, my hands are covering my face in distraught. It was all just a dream.
"Huh?"
I noticed my.phone vibrating on my bedside table. I picked my phone up, seeing that Sylvia is calling me.
"Hey." I answered, trying my best to sound normal.
"Hey Chantelle." Sylvia's voice greeted me. "I'm almost reaching the town. Where can I find your location?" She asked.
"Go straight ahead. Once you see an intersection, go west. Just few steps after that, you'll see the store just around the corner." I instructed Sylvia.
Aftwr biding my farewell to her, I changed my clothes before going out of my house in order to catch up with Sylvia.
I think it's best not to tell Sylvia about the dream. I don't want to make her feel scared.

Sylvia's POV:
I wouldn't be surprised now for the large interior of this store. I mean even just by looking at it from the outside makes you think that this store is gigantic..
I think I can do this. I just have to accompany Chantelle until midnight. Surprisingly, the store only opens in a total of 16 hours. It's quite odd, but I didn't mind it further.
I just noticed that only a janitor and a guard are seen inside the store.
"Brent. After you mop the floor, come to my brother's office so I can give you your paycheck alright? That means you also, Peter." Chantelle kindly instructed the janitor and the guard.
"Yes ma'am!" They both happily replied.
We both proceed on in walking. "Let's go to my brother's office. Come." Chantelle told me before leading the way.
I followed her to the other end of the store, and there I saw a door. Attached to the door is a sticker that reads "Office."
Chantelle went in first before I do.
"So why did you want me to accompany you throughout the night?" Without hesitation, I asked.
Chantelle gave me a glance, her eyes screams anxiety. "I-I'm just really scared. Y'know? About the killer, the murder spree, the—" she paused abruptly, sighing while rubbing her forehead. "I'm sorry. I'm just really paranoid." She apologized.
My stomach grinded. Just by Chantelle mentioning about the killer lefts me uncomfortable. How? I already know that one of my younger sibling is a murderer.
With a tiny smile, I spoke. "It's alright."
Without any idea, both me and Chantelle gazed upon the wide window beside us. Our eyes caught the glimmering sun setting down.
"It's gonna get dark soon." Chantelle said, sensing the dread within her voice.
Night time will be arriving soon...

10:23 PM...
It's deadly quiet from outside. Chantelle was in the storage room, probably arranging some stuffs in there.
It was only me and her now. The janitor and guard already left.
I was just sitting by one of the counter as I carefully arranged the colored papers I have inside my small shoulder bag. As hard as I try to analyze each note, including the scratched-out photograph; I cannot analyze the full message the killer is trying to point at.
I looked back outside. It's really dark for sure, but thankfully there is a street light shining on the other side of the lonely street.
As I scan what's outside, the street light flickered violently. My heart sank, seeing the presence of the mysterious girl standing at the other side of the street. She just stood there menacingly. Her grip on her murder weapon of choice is tight as a steel. Her jet black hair swayed from the cool breeze eerily.
She's back.
The light flickered again for once, and to my bafflement, the girl is gone. My eyes kept searching from outside frantically, hoping to see any sign of the girl. Where did she go?
A sudden urge of telling Chantelle about what I saw kicks in, so I decided to approach her in the storage room.
I started walking down a long path filled with shelves by the side. I'm just gaining a couple of steps when I stopped. My ears detected the noise of the door chimes jingling around the whole place. I want to assume that it's just a random customer entering, but my mind tells otherwise.
My heart skipped a beat. The hair on my body all stood up on its ends as the loud sound of glass falling off from a shelf is heard. Just then, all the lights around the store went out.
