Elements
After breakfast Faya made her way to the stone circle, her bag on her back and the vial inside it. She sat on the stones, the coolness giving her a chill and noticed a few other students and enjoyed the silence. As more students came to the circle she took off the headphones, suspecting Farah would come soon. Musa sat down next to Faya smiling and spoke quietly.
"Don't worry, we've all got your back. Stella will get what's coming to her." She giggled and nodded smiling.
"Thanks." Musa nodded, giving her new friend a wink.
"By the way, who saved you last night?" She asked.
"This Specialist named Riven." Faya explained, Musa nodded and turned to Farah who placed the vessel in the centre. Everyone went silent, staring at her and the Vessel. Faya glanced at everyone, seeing their nervousness and could hear their thoughts. She stared at the Vessel, trying to distract myself from hearing them as she listened in.
"Magic lives in the very fabric of nature. And here in our circle of stone, it's magnified. The Vessel tests your ability to channel that magic. Further down the line, you may learn to connect with other elements, but your first year is all about the element you were born with." Terra was asked to come up, she held her hands above the Vessel, a plant growing beautifully and tall.
"Earth. Soil, sand, rock and all manner of plant life." Aisha stood up next, water streams floating around.
"Water, the lakes and oceans of the world or the molecules that exist in all organisms around us." Musa stood up first, her eyes going violet and a cloud like thing with a violet tint.
"The mind. Thoughts, memories, dreams." Musa sat down, giving Faya a reassuring smile. She stood up, earning a nod from Farah. She closed her eyes, raising her hands and held them above the Vessel. The class' thoughts were hitting her, she flinched slightly at the sudden barging in of the sound. She took a deep breath, listening to the wind. The crackle of leaves and the feeling of the breeze on her skin.
Faya's eye fluttered open, smiling as she saw her hands creating a light purple, sparkly energy source. She hadn't been able to do that in a little bit. She looked at Farah, who gave the teen a smile and a satisfied nod. She let the purple sparkle source fade away, sitting down and watched Beatrix stand up, walking over to the Vessel with a smirk.
"Air. Speed, temperature, sound. Its power and electrical properties." Creating lightening between her palms.
"Whatever your element, the emotions underlying it are the same for all fairies." Bloom stood up, approaching the Vessel and placed her hands on the side. She took a breath, hesitating.
"Open yourself up to the magical world around you." A little flame appeared, Bloom still unsure.
"Push past your doubts." Farah pushed. The flame flickered on and off, the students starting to whisper.
"It's not working."
"Focus on clear, positive feelings."
"How about your parents? Focus on much you love them?" Aisha nudged, shrugging a shoulder.
"Stop thinking, magic comes from-"
"Emotions. I've been listening. I know what I'm supposed to do."
"This is a disaster." Musa spoke through gritted teeth.
"It's not happening, can we please move on." She sighed, sitting down. After class, Faya stood up and walked past Farah thanking her. She smiled and nodded. Faya walked at her dorm mates sides, smiling at them. Faya skipped to the Specialist training area, quickly running off to the bathrooms and changed. She carried her bag in my hand, placing it down and stared at everyone.
"Faya, are you ready? I'm not putting you behind, you have the same fighting level as a second year. I'll be pushing you more." Saul said to the girl, she nodded, a smile on her lips.
"I was born ready." He chuckled nodding and pointed to the fighting ring. But at two boys who were watching the others fighting.
"Those two are Sky and Riven. Best fighters of their year, Riven's a show off. A try hide when faced with competition. Sky, his father was Andreas of Eraklyon. He has experience like you saw yesterday, but there are times he lets his emotions get the better of him. See how you can win, teach them to use this to their advantage but in a way that won't get their team or themselves killed." Faya nodded, smiling liking the task.
"Thank you for the vial. The headache isn't there." He nodded and sent her off. She walked over to the two boys, Riven looking at her, looking her up and down.
"Faya, how are you?" Sky asked.
"Well, thanks." Lies...
"Need saving again?" Riven asked with a smirk, she glared at him and let her eyes flash purple for a moment.
"Oooh, scary purple eyes." He mocked
"Let's play a game, shall we?" She started off, staring at him and listened to him scoff.
"Who has the magic here?" She questioned.
"You, but I hear you can barely use them." He smirked, she scoffed and knew he was trying to get under her skin. Sky watched Faya, glaring slightly at Riven.
"And who's the two faced bastard?" She watched his smirk disappear and a glare cover his face.
"You don't even know me." He spat, pointing his finger at her.
"Nor do you. I may be a fairy who has magic that can be too much for them. But I am as good at fighting as you are." He shook his head, scrunching up his face.
"I don't think so, I'm a dude, we're faster, stronger, better."
"Riven." Sky hissed, glaring harder at his friend.
"No it's fine, while that all may be scientifically true. I'm a female, our bodies go through more crap then you'll ever realise."
"Get up there, can't have you proving me wrong."
"Gladly." She walked past him, going onto the fighting ring and looked at him. He jumped up, looking at her and held his hands up. She knew he would be making the first move so she waited, he did a side kick, She grabbed onto his leg and kicked his other one out from underneath him. He grabbed onto her shirt throwing her down rolled over so she was on the mat. And he was on top. He smirked at her, as if to say he got me. She kneed him in the groin, standing up quickly as he rolled over, groaning in pain.
He jumped back up, wanting to continue on with the fist fight. He was cocky, trying to act tougher than he actually is. Faya rammed her fist into his face, he grabbed her fist on the withdrawal and twisted her body so her back was to his chest and he had her arm twisted. She stomped on his foot, using the hand he had and elbowed him. He groaned and then hit the mat with a thud, as she swept the leg.
"Enough!" He coughed, Faya smiled and stood back as he got up.
"You're good." He said, a smile on his lips. Faya jumped off the ring and looked at Sky.
"You'd do well out in the field." He said.
"Thanks you." She grinned.
"Gotta give your praise for the 'two faced bastard' title." she snorted, crossing her arms across her chest and nodded.
"I know he's your friend and all, but he really is." He chuckled and then licked his lips as Riven wrapped his arms around both of their shoulders.
"Remind me not to piss you off again." She nodded, taking his arm from her shoulders and stood back.
"Of course." She said with a cheeky smile, the two boys chuckled and she closed her eyes for a moment, trying to regain her focus on other things. She focused on the sounds of fighting, the thud of bodies hitting the mats, the splash of water and anything she could pick out to distract her from the thoughts.
Faya opened her eyes, taking a sharp inhale and looked back at the two boys. Tucking some hair behind her ear and noticed the look the two boys gave her.
"Yes?" She questioned confused.
"Your eyes are flickering between their normal colour and purple." Sky pointed out, she sighed and nodded. Groaning as the thoughts came rushing into her head all at once, she stopped;ed focusing on other things, finally letting the magic do it's job. She placed a smile onto her lips as she continued to fake that she's fine.
"Are you okay?" Sky asked, placing his hand on her back. Faya nodded, feeling light headed.
"Perfect." She stated, nodding at him. Faya noticed Stella in the distance and stood away from Sky.
"I have to go. Nice talking with you both." She walked off, grabbing her bag and quickly showered off and then changed into my original clothes. As she walked out, she turned around a corner and stopped in her tracks seeing Riven resting against a wall.
