Chapter 19: The Tests: Part 1

2021- A month later

Jessica woke to find her head pounding as she closed her eyes for a second only to open them again as a wave of nausea hit her as she bolted to the bathroom as she could not help but throw what she ate for last night's dinner, up as she laid down on the floor.

She heard footsteps as she looked up at the face of her husband as he laid down on his stomach to kiss her head.

"I heard you get sick." He said as Jessica covered her eyes to shield the light from blinding her.

"I feel like death." She said as he wet a wash cloth to cool her off.

"I'm sorry that you feel terrible baby, but I brought some crackers up here with me just in case." He said as she smirked a little.

"I guess our romantic evening didn't agree with me." She said.

"I couldn't help myself last night, that outfit you were wearing begged me to take it off of you." He said.

"Sorry that I feel bad, now the kids can't be around me and they'll have to stay with Sarah until I get over this." Jessica said.

"I'd feel better if you called and made an appointment." He said.

"Evan, I just threw up and my head hurts a little bit but other than that, I'm fine." She groaned as he checked her for a fever.

"Well, if you don't insist on going to the doctor, then I'll take care of you." Evan said as he helped Jessica to her feet as she sat on the closed toilet.

"Do you want me to go get a test done? You know just be on the safe side." She asked as he looked at her.

"A pregnancy test?" He asked as Jessica looked at him.

"No honey, a Covid test, but that means you, me and the kids will have to be quarantined for two weeks." She said.

"But Jessica, nausea is a sign of pregnancy, not Covid or it might be, I get confused with all the symptoms it could have." He said.

"Honey, I'm not pregnant and that would be dangerous for me at my age, but to be on the safe side, I'll go to the doctor and get a Covid test, maybe you can come with me and get one too. I don't won't to get anyone sick and God help me if I get one of my kids get sick or both me or you get sick." Jessica said.

"Jess?" Evan questioned.

"Yes Evan?" She answered.

"How about we take both a pregnancy and Covid test? Just to make sure." Evan said.

"Alright, we'll take a test but honey, what's the chances of having a baby at my age? I tried and tried for a few years to get pregnant after my youngest was old enough and it didn't work." Jessica said as Evan held her waist.

"Babe, people in their sixties and seventies have children all the time." He said.

"Evan, I couldn't even have another baby in my forties which at the time of when I was at the height of my career and I wanted to have another child and I tried IVF and it didn't work." Jessica said as tears streamed down her face as Evan wiped them away.

"Maybe it wasn't the right time, but if you want to have another baby, we can try until we get pregnant." Evan said.

"Evan, are you sure you want to have a baby with me?" She asked.

"Of course baby." Evan said.

"I guess we can take the pregnancy test after our Covid test, but we'll be quarantined for two weeks." Jessica said.

"The kids won't like it but I want to make sure we're all healthy." She continued.

"I look forward to being quarantined with you for a couple of weeks." Evan said as he kissed Jessica's lips.

"We have to sleep in separate beds too." Jessica said as she dreaded it.

"That sucks, but it's for our own good." Evan said as he dreaded not sleeping next to his wife for two weeks.

"You want to go to the doctor right now?" He asked.

"Why not? It's not like we've got anything to do." She said.

"We gotta go get the kids." Jessica said.

"Sarah's going to freak out." Evan said.

"It's better than worrying if we contracted this sickness." Jessica said.

"Let's just cross our fingers that we don't have it." Evan said as Jessica hoped and prayed that they didn't.

"Let's get going, this is going to be the longest two weeks of our lives!" Jessica said, putting emphasis on the word longest.

...

Two weeks later

Jessica was cleaning the house when Evan came in from checking the mailbox as he held up the mail which had their results as Jessica was so antsy as he opened the envelope as he smiled.

"What?" Jessica asked.

"It says here that Mrs. Jessica P. Lange-Peters has tested..." Evan read off her results as she was afraid to hear what she worried for herself to death over.

"What does it say honey?" Jessica asked.

"It says here that you tested negative baby, you have nothing to worry about." Evan said as Jessica jumped up on him, kissing him because they haven't kissed in two weeks.

"God! I need you so bad right now!" She said as Evan needed to read his and the kids results.

"Baby, I need to read mine and the kid's results." Evan said as Grayson and Paisley looked at them.

"Daddy, I want to go to the park!" Grayson exclaimed.

"Me too!" Paisley chimed in.

"If we tested negative baby, we'll go to the park tomorrow." Evan said as the kids got excited.

"Read them to us daddy." Grayson said as him and Paisley hugged their parents legs.

"It says here that Miss Paisley Ann Peters has also tested negative for Covid." Evan read as Jessica picked her daughter up and spun her around.

"What about me daddy?" Grayson asked.

"The results for you buddy say here that Mr. Grayson James Peters has also tested negative for Covid too." Evan said as he went to his results.

"What does it say daddy?" Paisley asked.

"Evan?" Jessica questioned as she swallowed hard, hoping he didn't have it.

"I want mommy to read them." Evan said as he handed Jessica the results of his test.

"It says the results of Mr. Evan Thomas Peters has tested..." Jessica looked up at her husband and children.

"Mommy, is daddy sick?" Paisley asked.

"Your daddy also tested negative, we're all healthy and safe. We've all quarantined for two weeks, we've  been standing six feet apart from people in public and wearing our masks, also washing our hands and sanitizing things when someone or us have touched something." Jessica said as Evan hugged her.

"You scared the living hell out me Jess!" He said.

"I'm sorry honey, but I can't think about what would have happened if you tested positive. I can't be alone for too long without kissing you or sleep all alone at night."

"Babe, you'll never be alone and that's a promise I made to you." Evan said.

"But what if you would have tested positive for Covid, I can't be alone again and raise our children by myself." Jessica said as she started crying into Evan's shoulder.

"But I didn't test positive baby, I'm right here and you'll never be alone again and you'll never have to worry about raising our children alone again, that'll never happen." Evan said.

"Oh Evan!" Jessica cried more and more.

"Shh baby... I'm right here." Evan said as she raised her head up as he wiped her tears from her face.

"Go get the tests." She said as Evan smiled.

"Yeah?" Evan asked.

"Yeah!" Jessica smiled as she kissed him.

"I can go buy the tests now." Evan said.

"Do you know which ones to get?" She questioned.

"I just want to make sure you have a smile on your face when you take it. I've seen you disappointed before and I can't take it, knowing that I don't have what it takes to make you happy after I promised you, our family and our friends I'd make you the happiest woman in the entire world." Evan said as Jessica smiled through the happy tears streaming down her cheeks.

"You've made me very happy sweetheart and those five precious children we have and you have made my family so happy. Our friends know how happy I am and I've been told I glow whenever I go out to see them, well not with my mask on but in other ways. I'm the happiest I have ever been and there's nothing we can't take on together and get through it." Jessica said as Evan smiled.

"I love you Jessica Lange and I've never been happier than standing right here in front of you." Evan said.

"Ah ah ah, you forgot to add something to my name, Mr. Peters." Jessica said.

"I love you Mrs. Jessica Lange-Peters." Evan said as he wrapped his arms around her waist while placing soft kisses on her neck.

"I love you too Mr. Evan Peters, now take me upstairs and have your way with me or I'm going to have my way with you." Jessica said as Evan picked her up.

"What about the kids?" He asked.

"Damn it!" Jessica groaned.

"What if we called Sarah to come get them?" Evan asked.

"I'll call her." Jessica said as she grabbed her phone and called Sarah.

...

Sarah arrived to pick up the kids as they almost tackled her to the ground.

"Aunt Sarah, we're not sick!" Grayson exclaimed excitedly.

"I heard buddy and now, I'm gonna spoil you both this weekend!" Sarah said as the kids jumped up and down.

"Try to be a good influence Sarah, they already know every curse word in the english language." Jessica said.

"I'm the aunt and I'll spoil them and tell them every curse word in every language that I know and give them candy whenever they want it." Sarah said.

"Sarah!" Jessica said

"Oh come on! It's almost Halloween anyway so why not?" Sarah questioned.

"Because they'll get sick from eating too much sugar. Do you know what candy does to a five and six year old?" Jessica asked.

"Oh I do but that's your problem, my job is to spoil them rotten and give them candy and send them right back to you and Evan." Sarah smiled.

"You really are a bad influence on my kids Sarah Catharine Paulson." Jessica said.

"And that's my job Jessica Phyllis Lange, you're welcome." Sarah said.

"Well, thank you for letting them stay with you this weekend. It was hell these last two weeks!" Jessica said.

"I know and maybe you and Evan can have a little fun this weekend." Sarah said, smirking all the while.

"That's what we plan on doing. It's been two weeks, too long since I felt him next to me. Having him sleep in the guest bedroom was pure hell for both of us." Jessica said.

"Well, I won't get in your way a minute longer so go have fun and enjoy your weekend dear." Sarah said.

"Come here babies." Jessica said as she hugged and kissed both her kids.

"I'm going to miss you mommy." Grayson said.

"I'll miss you too baby, now go have fun with Aunt Sarah and Aunt Holland." Jessica said as she helped buckle him in his car seat.

"I will!" Grayson said.

"I'll miss you too mommy." Paisley said.

"I'll miss you too baby, now remember to limit your candy intake and be more responsible than your Aunt Sarah." Jessica said as she looked at Sarah through the rearview mirror.

"I always am, me and Aunt Holland always are." Paisley said.

"Good girl, now both of y'all be good for both Aunt Sarah and Aunt Holland. Mommy and daddy will see y'all Monday morning when Aunt Sarah brings you home for me and daddy to take you to school." Jessica said as she kissed both of her babies and hugged them, making sure their blankets they carried with them were warm.

"We love you mommy." They both said.

"I love you too my precious babies." Jessica said.

"I love you and I'll call you when I get home." Sarah said.

"Okay and I love you too Sarah " Jessica said as she kissed Sarah's cheek.

"Bye." Sarah said as she put her car in drive.

"Bye." Jessica said as Sarah drive as the kids waved out the back of the car.

Jessica waved as she was so excited about spending the first night with her husband since they were quarantined in different rooms as she walked inside.

"Honey?" Jessica yelled.

"Jess?" Evan yelled back.

"I really want you!" Jessica said as she smiled.

"I really want you too babe." Evan said as he appeared.

"Let's put this couch to use." Jessica said.

"Let's put this fireplace to use." Evan said.

"Okay." Jessica said as she admired the way Evan started setting everything up for the fireplace.

"You want red or white wine darling?" Jessica asked him.

"I'll get it baby." Evan said.

"No darling, I got it." Jessica said.

"Jess, relax baby." Evan said as Jessica sat down.

"Do you want red or white?" He asked as Jessica smiled.

"Red please." Jessica said.

"I'll go get dinner started too." He said.

"I can't just sit here Evan, I'll get bored." Jessica pouted.

"Then, come here but don't touch the food or the stove." Evan said as Jessica came into the kitchen as he sat her down on the counter.

"Evan, I'm starving." Jessica said.

"Dinner will done soon babe." Evan said.

"Not for the food darling, it's been two weeks and I need you." Jessica said as she got off the counter and stood behind him.

"I know but I don't plan on taking a break for a very long time when we start." He whispered in her ear.

"Well, I need a shower after what you just said and after cleaning the house and sprucing up our bedroom today, so I'm gonna go upstairs for a little while." Jessica said as she couldn't help the feeling her body was in right at that moment.

"Okay, have fun my love." Evan said as he knew Jessica was all hot after what he said.

"Oh I will." Jessica said.

...

Jessica was in the bedroom, putting lotion all over her body as Evan appeared in the doorway, their eyes locked as Jessica smiled.

"Cat got your tongue?" Jessica questioned.

"No, but dinner is almost ready and I knew you'd need this." Evan said as he came over to where she was sitting and handed her a glass of wine.

She took a drink, letting the liquid smoothly coat her mouth and tongue because she definitely needed this after the two weeks of pure hell she had been through.

"Thank you honey! I definitely needed this but I'm really hungry." Jessica said.

"Well, I'll let you get dressed and I'll be downstairs. Take as long as you need." Evan said as Jessica wondered what she was going to wear.

"Okay baby." Jessica said as she smiled.

Evan walked out of their room as Jessica wanted to find the perfect outfit for him.

She walked to her closet and examined what she had as she found a red lace dress as she smiled at the memory of it.

*Flashback*

Jessica was sitting at a table with Kathy, Lily, Sarah, Frances, Angela and Naomi when Evan walked in with Ryan, Brad, Denis, Danny, Finn and practically the entire cast of American Horror Story was here tonight.

"Hey Lange, tonight is your lucky night, if you know what I mean." Kathy said as Jessica smiled at her.

"We're just here to have a couple of drinks, not mingle with any men." Jessica said as Kathy looked at her.

"Oh, then what the hell am I doing here?" Kathy asked.

"To make sure Lady Lange is perfectly fine. It's been a long week with filming and we deserve this!" Sarah said as she slammed what was a shot glass full of tequila, now there was none in her glass.

"Sarah, I'm perfectly fine to sit at a bar by myself." Jessica said.

"No, you're not." Sarah said as Jessica shook her head.

"Well, it's like a family reunion but better since we're all drinking." Kathy said as Sarah caught the way Evan was looking at Jessica.

"Lady Lange, you my dear, have an admirer." Sarah whispered in Jessica's ear.

"Who?" Jessica asked, feeling her body tingle with excitement.

"Evan, he's been admiring you since we started filming. He likes you Jessica and everyone knows this." Kathy said.

"Well, this is my last season and after this, I'll be just like this season's fling and that's it." Jessica said.

"Just go over there and talk to him, he's a really sweet guy and you never know, you two will hit it off and you'll get married and have children one of these days." Sarah said.

"You're delusional Paulson, but fine I'll go over there and talk to him." Jessica said as she grabbed her clutch and beverage, getting up to go talk to Evan.

*End of Flashback*

Jessica looked at the time as she was done with her hair and makeup as she hoped that this would turn her husband on. She looked in the mirror as she smiled, only to keep the negative thoughts away of how could Evan love her as she closed her eyes.
