5. Scene One.

A brown paper bag was between my teeth and an ice coffee was in my hand as I rode my skateboard to where Henry Grant was on set.

"Excuse me," I told every person I passed while clutching onto the items until I made it to Henry who was in his chair that had his name across it. Kiana and Claire sat around him in similar chairs that had their names plastered on them.

"Black," I halted to a stop when I reached him. "Also got you a bagel."

Nova was on the brink of killing me yesterday when I told her what happened between Vincent and I. Getting this guy a bagel and getting him to like me could lower her blood pressure.

I passed him his stuff and kicked my skateboard into my good arm.

"How did you get the good one?" Claire grumbled as she read through her script.

Today they start filming To Light My Fire. Henry texted me last night that they were starting with Eve's bedroom scenes today since that's where most of the book took place.

"I guess I was just lucky," Henry beamed and winked my way. His hair and makeup person came and I took that as my cue to scatter.

Vincent where are you?

"Hey, what happened to your arm? I don't remember it being like that yesterday," wondered Kiana.

"I fell off my board in the parking lot," I confessed truthfully. I just kept the part of Vincent hitting me quiet.

"You gotta be careful."

"Badass!"

I received two very different reactions from Kiana and Claire.

"I've always wanted to learn how to do tricks on a skateboard. One of them is an ollie, right?" Claire demanded more than asked.

If I could get Claire alone maybe she'll be able to tell me 'stories' about Vincent.

"Pick a day. I'd love to teach you," I gave her my most genuine smile to which she gave my me a once over and returned a smirk.

"This Sunday. 1p.m. I'll email you my address."

Claire snatched a coffee cup from one of her assistants and her mood changed in seconds.

"It's hard to find decent help around here," she disgustedly looked at her assistant who almost tripped over her own feet trying to escape Claire's scrutiny.

Claire was soon called to set and she sauntered away with a wave to all of us.

I swiftly texted Nova to let her know about the plans I have with Claire next week to which she sent the most exciting reply to.

Good.

"I'm Kiana by the way," she broke me from my phone and offered me to sit in Claire's seat but I kindly declined. I didn't believe it was right to sit in another woman's chair.

"Yeah, I know. I love your work. I'm Amari," I tried my hardest to keep my composure.

Along with my mother, Kiana was one of my biggest inspirations. She was not only an actress, but also a singer, songwriter, and talented musician. She was a successful black woman who taught me that one title can't describe all of you. Additionally, Kiana Washington is also hot as hell.

"Well, it was great meeting you, Amari. As much as I would love to stay and chat with you about your arm, I'm sure they might start filming without me and I'm the lead," she giggled and rose up from her seat. "See you later."

She squeezed my good shoulder before running off to her destination.

Kiana seems like an open person so I can definitely get answers out of her.

"What a surprise. Are you late because you were pulled over for hitting someone else?" Henry joked as Vincent jogged in with a nice dark red suit on. At this point I'm convinced he goes everywhere in formal wear which makes him look so uptight yet so lavish. Vincent sat in the chair that had his name on it before staring down Henry with cold green eyes and he turned to me with the same expression.

"Why you look at me like that? You weren't the one who was ran over," I grumbled earning a chuckle from Henry.

All my morals of being less 'pigheaded' went out the window.

"Don't you dare speak to me in that manner! You're getting too comfortable around here," Vince fumed unexpectedly which made me slightly jump.

"Watch it, Vince," Henry warned and stood up behind me as if he was about to defend me. I scuffed internally from his foolishness. I can easily kill Vincent on the spot.

"Aw look at that. So cute," Vince seethed before snatching his bag off the floor and took long strides away from the area.

How can one person carry so much anger? I couldn't even comprehend what his problem was. He seemed stressed and I noticed that he didn't shave this morning because of the stubble on his face.

"Don't worry about him. He does this to everyone," Henry rubbed my back before leaving me alone to go to wardrobe.

"When you get to know him he's actually fun to be around."

"When I get to know him." The only thing I want to know about him is his weaknesses.

Vince needed to learn how to control his temper. However I have to say the same about myself. Being around him is difficult for me because I know what he does behind closed doors, and the fact the he prances around makes my blood boil.

It amazes me how he still manages to book jobs when he literally yells at everyone.

Since everyone was away working, I decided to walk around the set to get comfortable with the space I would be spending the rest of the year at.

I passed by the camera crew who were setting up Eve's bedroom with posters and bed sheets. Kiana had her earbuds in when she was walking into the mock room and I assumed that she was going over her lines because her lips were moving. All she had on was a white robe and a bonnet over her faux locs.

Vince strolled in seconds later with a completely different outfit on that made him look less uptight. He wore a loose fitting tank top with a leather jacket over it. The skinny ripped jeans he wore outlined his firm legs. His usually slicked back hair was now a messy blonde mop on top of his head. The necklace that hung lowly around his neck and the multiple silver rings on his fingers almost made me swoon over his new look. Almost.

The goal is to get him to like me. Not the other way around.

I could tell that his blatant and malicious attitude was gone when he greeted Kiana by kissing both of her cheeks.

Kiana might be a reliable source for the mission. Vincent and her seem friendly enough.

Kiana took off her robe and under she had on skin toned underwear that made her look like she was naked. She slid under the covers and got into position.

"Look alive everyone. The camera is always watching," Ray came in with a green juice in his hand and dark sunglasses over his eyes. "Scene 1, Ryder sneaking into Eve's bedroom for the first time, action!"

Vincent had invisible strings on him and he was now levitating above the bed with Kiana laying under him. According to the board in front of Ray she was supposed to be waking up from a nightmare that she had.

Kiana sucked in a breath and put her hands around her neck before opening her eyes. She screamed loudly when she saw him above her.

Vincent quickly covered her mouth and lowered himself down on her until their noses touched.

"Stop. We don't want your nuisance of a mother to wake up now do we?" His voice was still its deep tone but it was new and honey in my ears.

Kiana snatched his hand away like it burned her skin and got up to escape her spot on the bed. "Get your hands off me."

She now stood now wearing only the nude undergarments with her arms crossed. When I looked over to the screen where you could see the camera's shot I only saw Kiana's shoulders and the top of her chest. I guess this was a PG-13 movie since her bare chest wasn't showing.

"You smell like lemon grass. So exotic." Vince was lowered onto the bed and he had his face stuffed into the pillow Kiana was just laying on.

"Get out."

"Don't be shy, doll."

The scene escalated when Vincent took off his jacket and exposed every single one of his tattoos that were layered on his strong arms. I couldn't tell if the inked up art was just makeup for the character or if those were really his.

With squinting my eyes I saw four roses forming a ring around his bicep and tricep. Letters were scribbled on them but I couldn't see it clearly.

I couldn't resist gazing at the beautiful strokes and was close to forgetting whom the tattoos were painted upon.

Moments went by and Kiana was tugged onto Vincent's chest and I rolled my eyes immediately at his next line.

"You don't know it yet, but I'm YOUR shitty person."

A hand on my shoulder almost made me drop my skateboard that would've made the loudest sound in the world.

"Hey, I have an interview to go to after work and I would like to learn more about my favorite new assistant."

Henry was the culprit of almost making me interrupt the film and almost losing my job.

The idea of spending more time away from my main target annoyed me in the slightest, but the more sources the better. If Henry spills some secrets about Vincent then I'm one step closer to destroying him. I'll also keep my fingers crossed for him to invite me to Italy with him.

"I'll be there," I told him after turning around so I could face him instead of Vincent who was now taking off his shirt.

"Great." Henry looked behind me and scrunched up his mouth. "Let's get out of here before he takes off something else."

I agreed and followed him away from the set with his hand on my back which made me want to gag. Although, not before I snuck another peek at Vincent who was done filming and was clearly looking at me with his usual cold eyes.

I don't break my promises!

Neither do I.
