Sweet Desire

Chapter 12

"We're all in the same game; just different levels. Dealing with the same hell; just different Devils."

After racing through the woods and probably earning themselves several scratches and leaves in their hair, Tyler, Ty, and Seto broke through the treeline into the familiar rebel camp. Well, now it was the town of Jeriio.

Seto was amazed by the sight, sure he was much better at magic now, but seeing the future didn't mean seeing it in person was any less amazing.

He was however, excited to see his uncle, that was something he didn't check for.

"This way," Ty dismounted and lead his horse farther into the town. It seemed to Seto that construction was just on its way, here and there people were bustling with wooden beams and shouting to others. The framework of houses and buildings could be visibly seen.

There was a clatter to their left and Seto turned to see a familiar face. The same large scar stretched across his throat, "Seto?" Seto's eyes widened at the voice.

"You can speak," Seto pointed and turned to face Sub. Many years ago, Sub had almost killed Jerome in his attempts to capture Seto and give him over to the former Emedian King. However Seto had stopped him with unstable magic and Sub had nearly died. After his recovery, however, he was imprisoned and though Seto saw many future events while in the End, he did not know that Sub had been freed, and that he could now speak.

Sub's face flushed with both embarrassment and shame, "Y-yes," Sub bent down to pick up wooden planks and logs he'd just dropped. He kept his eyes down and refused to make eye contact with Seto.

Seto hesitantly let go of his horse's lead walked forward and bent to help him. Tyler and Ty turned around when they realized Seto was no longer behind them and saw the situation.

There was silence between Sub and Seto before Sub spoke, "I'm...sorry. What I did--tired to do, was selfish. I was still bitter over events that had nothing to do with you and I used you in the hopes of getting the money I needed to fix my voice..."

Seto looked up, he placed his hand gently on Sub's shoulder and smiled, and though Sub flinched and hid his eyes more, Seto gave Sub a few accepting pats, "I'm just glad you are doing better." The two of them stood up and Seto handed Sub the planks he'd picked up.

Sub met his eyes for a split second before turning to face the rest of the new town, "If you're looking for Cal Vesuvius, he's near the docks, and...thank you."

Seto smiled and nodded to Sub before running to catch up with Ty and Tyler, along with his horse of course.

Ty and Tyler gave Seto smiles before continuing on.

Adam and Ian arrived in Jeriio in the early evening when the sun had not quite set, but was slowly reaching the horizon.

"Well if it isn't the sourpuss Ian! Is Adam with you?" Adam hearn the loud and bellowing voice of Tom, one of his older brother's closest friends. As Adam opened the carriage door himself and existed he was met with a hearty clap on his back and a tight hug from Tom.

Adam winced but kept a smile present on his face, "Tom, how has Jeriio coming along?"

Ian dismounted and stood beside Adam.

"That's great, I'm sure my brother will love to hear that--"

"You won't believe it Adam, but Seto's returned!" Tom cheered.

Adam grinned, "I know, I was there, is he still here?"

"Yes! He, Tyler, Ty, and his cousin and Uncle are currently talking up quite the storm in Jay's temporary inn. You haven't seen it yet, have you? Jay and her family are really making the place awesome as shit! It's near the shore line by the way."

"Could you lead us to it? It's important."

"Sure thing dude," Tom lead Adam and Ian into the town with excited small talk. He often interrupted himself to shout something to someone passing by.

"Here we are guys!" Tom pointed to a small building with more additions being made to it. From the window Adam could make out light.

"Thanks!" Adam hurried towards the small inn and entered, the chatter inside quieted as all eyes turned to Adam.

"Adam!" Seto grinned, "I didn't expect to see you here!"

Adam waved, Ian poked his head behind Adam, "Ian!" Seto clapped, "The two of you should join us, I have good news! Though I suppose you two would already know."

Ian pushed passed Adam into the inn, "Is that Ian and Adam I see?" A familiar head poked their way through a doorway on the other side of the room, it was Jay. Jay was a young woman with human and morvic features due to parents of both heritages. Her mother was a morvic of bird like features while her father was a very loud and hearty human.

"Good evening Jay," Adam waved. He pulled up a chair and moved it close to the large circular table filled with Seto, Ty, Tyler, Seto's cousin Cal, and Seto's uncle. He noticed Ty quietly sipping a beer, while beside him, Seto was drinking tea.

Ian pulled up a chair beside him, "Need any food?"

"Sure thing, whatever you have is fine," Adam pointed to Ian and himself to hint at food for the both of them. Jay nodded and ducked back into the other room which Adam imagined as a kitchen or something of the likes.

"Well Seto, you had something to tell us?" Ian spoke up.

"Yes, yes!" Seto grinned, "My uncle and cousin have told me that Keuta will become an individual monarchy again."

"Yes, I have heard of that," Ian replied, this was news to Adam, "Are you resuming as king?" Ian turned to look at Seto's Uncle.

The man was certainly thinner than he was years ago, since his ally the King of Emedo suddenly turned on him and imprisoned him life must've been tough. However, his cheeks still held onto their rosy tint, "No," he said. Seto looked at him in shock.

"Uncle? If not you then who? Cal?" Seto asked.

"Me? No, I can't do it," Cal butted in almost immediately as soon as his name was mentioned.

The inn was silent, "I'm sorry boys, I didn't want to spoil the mood with this topic, but I'm getting old, I brought Keuta into this mess and my judgement was wrong. I would be happy if either my son or nephew stepped in."

Seto looked down and Tyler placed a comforting hand on his shoulder.

"Order up!" Jay skipped out of the room she'd been in with two plates of steaming mushroom stew. Adam didn't realized how famished he was until she placed the bowl in front of him and the smell wafted into his nose. He felt saliva in his mouth growing.

"The two of you don't need to decide right now, it's a lot to think about, instead let's be thankful for our reunion and for all the faces of friends amongst us," Seto's Uncle broke the silence.

"Agreed," Ian butted in. Ty gave a small nod in agreement.

"There is something I would like to announce, and a request I would like to make," Adam spoke. He was hungry, but he should take of this matter first.

When eyes were on him Adam cleared his throat, "I've decided to take up the crown and become Emedo's new king--" Ty abruptly stood up and his eyes flared in Adam's direction. Everyone was so shocked by the gesture no one new how to react.

"Ty? Are you--" Seto was cut off as Ty sat down again, he kept his face hidden from Adam. To Ty, the Azures were evil people that tormented Vragan, of course Ty would be upset another Azure was taking the throne. Adam gnawed on his tongue in an effort to calm his nerves.

"With this in mind...I have only one request, and it's directed at Ty."

Ty lifted his head, "Me? I won't help you."

"Hear me out, and please all of you, I want to hear what you think as well," Ty turned away and Seto placed a hand on Ty's shoulder. His eyes pleaded to Ty to listen and Ty grumbled before complying.

He hadn't told anyone about this, in fact he was planning his thoughts and ideas while on his way to Jeriio, so everything was still in its early stages.

"We are reaching a new era of new kings and queens. Neim will resume with its independence and Alesa will step in a ruler, Mitch has only been king for the past 4 years and still remains a new ruler. Keuta will soon be coranating a new ruler once it has been decided. Emedo will be doing the same. With all these changes, it's about time more changes that should've been done ages ago come to light.

"It's time magic be welcomed across all borders. Namely...in Emedo--"

"You'll accomplish this how?" Ty spat.

"With your help, if you are will--"

"No."

"Ty," Seto pleaded.

"Adam be careful with how to word things, you're breaking down a dam with this topic--"

"This needs to be done Ian. Ty, I know you think the Azure family line is tainted and unfit to rule, but you're wrong.

"Emedo is built upon the blood of people from all kingdoms. When war enveloped the entire realm centuries ago, refugees from all kingdoms migrated to the stretch of land that soon became Emedo. People from Keuta, Neim, Eflido, Duhita, Vragan unified under a single man, my ancestor. What my father, his father, and his father before him did is unforgivable, but please know that Aiden Azure, the original Azure built a kingdom under the collective work of everyone. Vragans and sorcerers included, and I know with your help that can once again be a reality."

"What you spout if wishful thinking, you're people will continue to hate and scorn sorcerers, and my people will continue to despise you. What you say is impossible."

"I refuse to believe it. Youv'e met Mitch, but you didn't know him like I knew him. He was just as much of a morvic hating Duhitian as the next Duhitian, and Jerome was the opposite. He was a human hating morvic, yet the two became allies, friends, and eventually partners in changing the structure of their home. Together. What's more impossible than that?"

"Well, what you say is true," Adam turned to look as Seto's uncle, "And I support your notion for change, my own nephew is a sorcerer and that doesn't change the way I see him as family. But the real concern is, how do you plan to change this problem?"

Adam sucked in a breath, this was the part that relied heavily on Ty's assistance, "I would like to form an alliance with Vragan, and as a sign of good faith, I would like to personally invite the King of Vragan to my coronation where a treaty of peace between our two kingdoms can be signed," Adam looked at Ty, "and I want you to be Emedo's ambassador."

Ty's eyes widened before they narrowed and he slammed his hand down on the wooden table.

Jay poked her head into the room, "Is everything alright in here? There's an awful lot of yelling going on--"

"I will not endanger my king! I will not help you in this, you already know I cannot return to Vragan, I've failed my mission, I am a disgrace. But even despite all that, I will die before I consider endangering my king and bringing the likes of you into Vragan or even thinking of proposing the idea of travelling to Emedo for the coronation of the enemy!"

"Ok~," Jay whistled before she ducked out.

Adam bowed his head, "I understand."

"Wait, Ty, reconsider--"

"No Seto, nothing you say will change my hate--"

"Then don't forgive me, or my family," Adam stood up. His chair bumped against his table sending cold mushroom stew sloshing onto the table, "Tyler Lox, I would like to grant you permanent admission into my council. You would hold a high position in Emedo and you will be able to keep an eye on me 24/7. You could decide for yourself if I am fit to rule or if I should be removed, I will grant you that sole power as yours alone--"

"Adam! You can't make a foolish claim like that--" Ian stood up in protest.

"Dammit, Ian, I don't need you babying me in this. Just sit down," Adam slammed his fist down onto the table. He turned his attention back to Ty.

"If the problem with returning to Vragan is that you are a failure to Vragan, then you won't be the man that failed, you'll be Ty Aiden, citizen of Emedo since birth. All I ask is for you to at the very least deliver a letter to the King of Vragan. From there the King himself can decide whether he will meet with me and discuss the possibility of a treaty uniting our kingdoms as allies." Every word resonated with the beat of his heart that thumped heavily against his chest.

The room was silent.

He let his words sink, maybe now Ty would consider his offer.

Ty cleared his throat and Adam felt a small ounce of hope, "There are...about a billion things wrong with what you just proposed," Adam lost his hope, but at least he wasn't glaring. Ty held up a one finger to represent.

"First, even I'm not dumb to give one person the power to veto your right to rule."

Ty held up two fingers, "Second did you just give me a new name? Third, did you just give me your ancestor's name?"

Adam felt his face flushing ever so slightly. He thought it sounded cool, "Fourth, who the bloody fuck would believe I was a Emedian citizen? I'm tall, pale, and carry the mark of the Nyx on my body, plus I am known by Vragans as Kulnak apprentice..."

Kul...what?

"L-look, I didn't decide to become King until I was getting into the carriage to Jeriio, so I only had the ride itself to ponder and figure out how to create peace between two kingdoms. It's not like I wasn't unconscious for several days recovering from my wounds," Adam countered.

"Hmph, seems like your still as irresponsible as ever...general," the last bit was muttered and only Seto could hear it. Seto smiled ever so slightly. It was progress, even if no one but Seto could hear the joke.

"Ain't that the truth," Ian sighed, he'd been standing the entire time since he ignored Adam's demand, but now he gave in and took his seat once more.

"I don't like you," Ty said, "and I don't trust you either, but you'll probably send the fucking letter to the King with hearts and smiley faces on it if I don't help you not screw up..." Ty dismissively waved, "So I will only help you on the condition that I handle everything, and that if this treaty fails, you'll step down as king, immediately."

"What?" Cal spoke up, he'd been silent the entire time which was unusual to Adam since he was normally a cynical and sarcastic guy that spoke up often to make a point.

"Absolutely not," Ian argued.

"I agreed to your terms," Adam stepped away from the table but kept his eyes trained on Ty as he held out his arm. He didn't even think about the offer, he'd already promised himself that he would not rest until Vragan and Emedo were finally at peace with each other. Even if he had to do it as a beggin pauper.

"Adam," Ian hissed.

Ty pushed himself out of the table and walked around to meet face to face with Adam. Ty firmly gripped Adam's hand before the two of them shook.

"Then it's a deal," Ty said.

"Yes," Adam responded, "A deal."

Here it is! A long-awaited Sweet Desire chapter. Just an FYI, I updated GAME OVER yesterday, and two Calamity chapters went up yesterday and the day before.

The next update on anything will be next week, I'm not sure if I'll post a GO chapter or a SD chapter, or both. But there will be a chapter of something.

I thank you for your patience and support in my hiatus, and I hope I won't go on another one.

Theories? I wonder who the King of Vragan is? It could literally be anyone, whoa. XD
