Extreme Aggressor - IV

Continuation of Extreme Aggressor - III

"Hotch are you sure you want to take them with you? Both of them?" Derek asked his unit supervisor, a slightly distrustful look on his features, "You can just take Reid, the kid's a genius alone, no need to take them both." Hotch looked at his team member then at the two in question, waiting for them to decide who was going with who while bickering back and forth,  going on about god knows what.

"I promised PG that I'd bring back both of them, alive." Derek continued, his words true but jokingly at the same time, "I agree that taking the two of them with me is going to make want to strangle them both, I don't want Annabel to be in a location like that so soon, you saw how she reacted to the last case in which the victim was found in a similar location." Hotch told him, tearing his eyes from the bickering doctors to his teammate.

"And leaving her here would prompt her to call out the flaw in every single person in this facility, which would lead to her being asked to leave before someone shot her for being indiscrete." Gideon told the two as he approached them, looking at the two doctors himself.

Annabel had her eyes narrowed at Spencer while the Doctor in question looked as if he had won the lottery just by getting under her skin, her lips were moving at a speed that forbade them from being able to read what she was saying, the distance between the two groups not helping in the slightest. Spencer seemingly chuckled and that caused Annabel to point a finger at him and take a step closer to him, her face now contorting into one of anger, but still, the smile remained on his face.

"Does the kid have a death wish?" Derek muttered as the trio quickly hurried to the duo, knowingly saving Spencer from a painful death at Annabel's hands, "Annabel, Spencer, let's go, we're going to talk to the victim's brother." Hotch ordered, his voice ringing throughout the lobby, snapping Annabel from her rage and making Spencer frown at him in annoyance.

And there it was the looks that the team knew half by heart, the annoyed-I don't want to go with him/her-genius face, meaning clenched jaw, frowny eyebrows and sneer when they looked at the other.

And although they usually bickered and behaved like toddlers, the team thankfully didn't have to deal with the 'shotgun' bickering between the two, because Spencer usually preferred the backseat.

Hotch led the two young agents to the SUV they would be taking, leaving Derek and Gideon together to go check the crime scene, "Who will be checking her bedroom?" Annabel questioned once they were on their way, her fingers pulling the hair tie that was keeping her hair up out of her face, quickly running her fingers through it just to add volume.

"You." Hotch replied without missing a beat or looking at her, "You're a woman so victims' family are most likely to let a woman search the victims' room, especially if they are women as well." Annabel nodded at his words, knowing that Hotch was correct, in prior cases the parents were always reluctant when the men in the team asked to see the rooms but when she or JJ, in the cases that she came along, they were less reluctant.

"Spencer, you and I are going to talk with the victim's brother, try to get any and every information that we can on our victim." he continued, peering at the boy genius through the mirror, "And see what could possibly be used to connect our victim to the unsub." Spencer concluded, looking out the window.

"We know that there is nothing that could connect any of the victims, not the looks, not their jobs, maybe them being in their early 20's but nothing else." Annabel told the two, turning her head to Hotch as she spoke, "Has Penelope found anything more on the victims?" Spencer inquired from the back of the SUV, being rather civil, something that surprised Hotch just a little bit.

Annabel shook her head and pulled out her phone just to make sure, the screen didn't display any notifications of messages or lost calls, meaning no new information.

Upon arriving at the house, the trio was greeted by the victim's brother, who by the looks on his face was relieved that the FBI were getting involved, "He's not the unsub that's for sure." Annabel couldn't help but mutter under her breath, Hotch nodding at her words while Spencer looked around, looking for potential clues.

The house was quaint, low-middle class but cozy, something that made Annabel involuntary smile at, remembering that her mother's house had changed from overly spacious to quaint and cozy as she grew older, reminding her of how much she missed her mother.

"Thank god the FBI is getting involved." the victim's brother breathed out in relief as the trio approached him, two of the people looking respectable enough while the other looked like an overgrown child, in a weird way. "Please come inside." he added, knowing fully well that it was going to be raining a few seconds later.

Inside was just as cozy as the outside appeared to be, and warm, which was a good thing, considering that outside was rather cold due to the weather. A golden retriever started to bark loudly as soon as Spencer walked in, making the young boy genius jump out of his skin and Annabel snicker not so discreetly.

"Sandy, no. I'm so sorry." the man exclaimed, rushing towards the dog and pulling her backward a bit, just in case she decided to jump at them, "No, it's ok. It's what we call the Reid effect." Hotch explained, in a slightly joking manner, pointing at Spencer with a smile. "Happens with children, too." Annabel teased, walking towards the dog and kneeling down in front of it, instantly petting her, the dog clearly enjoying all of the attention.

"On the other hand, we had the Lee effect. Animals and children alike just run-up to her as if she is the giver of all things good." Hotch continued as the man looked at Annabel in bewilderment.

"I'm agent Hotchner. These are special agents Dr. Reid and Dr. Lee." he introduced, making Spencer wave uncomfortably and Annabel smile nicely at the man. "You look too young to have gone to medical school." the man replied, slight embarrassment and astonishment clear in his voice.

"They're PhD's. 3 of them." Spencer replied in his defense, walking around Annabel, making sure to avoid touching her at all costs, even leaping away from her when he saw the glint in her eyes, "Are you a genius or something?" the victim's brother chuckled, rubbing his neck as he looked at the young boy genius. "I don't believe that intelligence can be accurately quantified- but I do have an I. Q. of 187 and an eidetic memory and can read 20,000 words per minute." Spencer rambled, not being able to turn off the need to spit out scientific facts every 20-30 minutes.

"Yes, he's a genius. An undeniably pretty genius." Annabel inputted, still looking at Sandy and talking in a baby voice at her. The victim's brother couldn't help but assume that Annabel was flirting with Spencer, and had he looked at the amused look on Hotch's face or the scowl on Spencer's he would know that she was in fact not flirting.

She stood up and the man was able to see Annabel completely, her beige blouse and her dress pants making her look professional and her long coat making her look like a model. "Would you mind if I went through your sister's bedroom? We're trying to see if there are any clues as to why your sister was taken." the only woman in the room inquired, looking the man straight in the eyes.

There was a pause, a look of uncertainty crossing the man's face, doubt if he should allow the woman before him to search his sister's bedroom or not, but in the end he nodded, knowing that any secret that his sister might have could be the only clue to getting her back. Alive.

Annabel smiled in appreciation and nodded at Hotch before walking out the room, allowing the men to continue talking.

The bedroom looked like what Annabel could assume would be an ordinary woman's bedroom when she was in her 20's, minus her own, her was covered with just the bare minimum considering she all but lived at Quantico. Except there was a large pile of magazines, not the kind that women usually pay attention to and spend thousands of dollars a year just in buying them, no these were car magazines and all of them had at least one car in common from what she could see.

She picked up a magazine and walked to the bedroom door, just in time to hear Spencer say "There's an immediate relationship established between a buyer and a seller, a level of trust. If I want to coax a young woman into my car..." she rose her hand to reveal the magazine she picked up and the same brand as the one that Spencer was holding, replying in a calm tone "Offer her a test drive."
