Trigger warning: mention of a past suicide attempt(not graphic, just a mention)

Wooyoung's pov

"Hyung, while we were with Soobin, he called us 'Fated Mates.' What does that mean?" I asked Seonghwa as the five of us vampires sat in Seonghwa's dorm. Hongjoong finally had a day off, so Seonghwa was getting us three younger guys to know his mate.

"Wooyoung, did you read the diary I gave you a year after your transition?" Seonghwa asked. I shook my head, causing him to sigh with a small smile.

"The witch to curse the first vampires wasn't quite as heartless as one might think. When she made the spell, she made it so that every vampire would have a mate. Since I was born by two of the original vampires, I would have a 'fated mate' and not a normal mate.

"A pair of fated mates are stronger together than an original vampire. Hongjoong and I could, essentially, wipe out the originals, but they're my family; we can't.

"What does that have to do with San and I? I'm a changed vampire, not a born one." I asked. Seonghwa sighed again.

"Don't interrupt me, Wooyoung. The first vampire I changed would get the same capabilities I have. When I changed you, you became my equal in relation to strengths. You were the first human I changed.

"Since I changed you, you would also have a fated mate. The fated mates are chosen by my father's best friend, since he was the first to be cursed. His curse, along with the immortality of a vampire, is to see into the future.

"When I changed you, he already knew it. He hadn't told anyone of his knowledge that I'd change you until I had already done so. When I came back home after I changed you... a lot went down. I've never seen the originals so scared- so pissed at me- but, as fate would have it, you, Wooyoung, are the strongest vampire in existence.

"To keep you from going off the rails, or knowing about your insane strengths, you were sent San. I wasn't supposed to tell you any of this, and I am aware of the consequences I will face, but you needed to know that you're not as weak as you think." Seonghwa finished his long explanation as a man stepped closer to the five of us.

"You've talked enough, don't you think?" He asked as he grabbed Seonghwa by the back of his collar. Seonghwa looked unamused as he let the man pull him up from his bed. Hongjoong was quick to yank the man's hands away from his mate.

"Don't touch him!" Hongjoong exclaimed. The man laughed.

"Would you rather take the repercussions instead?"

"Dad, leave them alone. They deserved to know. What'll it be this time? Another decade of solitary?" Seonghwa rolled his eyes.

"That's too simple, son. By letting the younger know his strengths, he is sure to kill us all off. So, an eye for an eye, right?" Seonghwa's dad quickly  brought Hongjoong into his arms, an arm squeezing around his neck tightly.

I jumped up from the chair I was sat in and closed in on the vampire I hadn't met yet.

"Not so fast, Wooyoung. Any closer and I'll tear out his throat." Seonghwa's dad sang. I looked over at Seonghwa, who nodded for me to do something.

In the blink of an eye, I had driven a stake through the heart of the oldest vampire in the room. He let go of Hongjoong as he tried to pull it out of his back.

"You little shit..." he cursed as he dropped to his knees before disappearing from the room.

Seonghwa and I were quick to kneel down beside Hongjoong, who was coughing harshly from how tightly Seonghwa's father held his throat.

"Babe, are you okay?" Seonghwa asked, gently lifting his lover's chin to inspect his neck. His neck was darkly bruised, but otherwise fine.

"I'm good," Hongjoong wheezed, trying to catch his breath again. Seonghwa looked concerned for his lover regardless, and opened his mini fridge to pull out five blood bags he had stashed in there.

He handed three to me before he pulled the tubing open for Hongjoong to drink from. I turned towards the two newest vampires who looked confused and scared to see the blood bags.

"You both only awoke as vamps this morning, so you gotta drink it to finish it off. If you don't, you'll die by this time tomorrow." I opened the tubes on two bags and handed them to the changelings.

"Really?" Wooyoung whined but slowly put the tube to his lips. I smiled softly hearing a sigh from Wooyoung who still proceeded to drink it. San looked at Wooyoung and shrugged before doing the same.

"Why doesn't it taste awful?" Wooyoung asked quietly once he pulled his lips away from the tube. He looked down at the bag then back up at me.

"Woo, it's just like the movies, dimwit. Your tastes have changed," I said before laughing. Wooyoung furrowed his brows, handed the bag to San, and threw a playful punch at me.

"Careful, bud. Although you're at what could be your strongest right now, I'm a century older so I'm stronger." I caught his fist in my hand, causing him to laugh too.

"Woo, don't beat my mate up," San whined. Wooyoung rolled his eyes and sat back down beside San.

"What will we do about Yunho, Mingi, and Jongho? They're the only three of our group to still be humans; won't their lives be in danger, too, now?" Wooyoung asked as he realized three of his friends were both, still humans, and out of the loop of what's been happening.

"Oh geez, we forgot them!" Seonghwa exclaimed.

"Speaking of those three guys, I haven't seen or talked to them in a while..." I mumbled. San's face paled as he started a group call in their group chat.

"Hello?" Jongho asked, a bit confused at the random 2 pm call. We could faintly hear a girl's voice ask Jongho a question from behind the phone.

"Jong, have you seen Yun or Min?" San asked.

"Uhm... Yunho Hyung told me like three ish days ago he had to travel somewhere, didn't tell me where, for his job. Mingi Hyung has been kinda MIA since the same time. Why? Is something wrong?" Jongho asked.

"Jongho, Yunho doesn't have a job, remember? His parents pay for everything. Mingi never goes anywhere by himself," San responded. His eyes widened as his own words sunk in.

"Where would they go?" Jongho asked quickly.

"We've got a lot to tell you, man, but first, where are you?" San asked.

"I'm at the coffee shop on campus-"

"Stay put, and don't go anywhere. I'm gonna come pick you up," I said as I took San's phone from his grip.

"Hyung, I'm on a date! I can't leave her here by herself!" Jongho began protesting before I cut him off again.

"Jongho, this is something extremely serious; do not fight me on this." I stated firmly before handing San his phone back.

I raced out of Seonghwa's dorm room at a more human pace that I'd have liked, but still quite quickly. I made it to the cafe in five minutes before I stopped at the doors to walk in more calmly.

"Jongho, let's go." I gently grabbed his arm to pull him to stand up. His eyes were wide seeing me there so quickly.

   "But what about-"

"But nothing, Jongho," I began before turning towards his date, "I'm sorry, but I have to steal your date."

"Hyung, stop! What is wrong?" Jongho said, trying his best to get me to stop pulling him through the campus.

"Mingi and Yunho didn't leave on their own will, Jongho. That is all I can say before we're inside Seonghwa Hyung's dorm," I said, slowing down a bit for him to not be running anymore. He was breathing heavily from the bit of running, so I picked him up over my shoulder and sped to the dorms with my vampiric speed instead.

"Jesus Christ- Hyung what the fuck was that?! How are you so fast and strong?!" Jongho yelled once I sat him down on Seonghwa's bed.

"Jongho, the five of us sat in this room with you are vampires. You, Yunho, and Mingi are the only three humans left of our group." Seonghwa began. Jongho looked a bit scared as he glanced around the room at the five of us. Once he saw the empty blood bags on Seonghwa's bed, his face paled.

"Oh god... how the hell did I get myself into this kinda situation..." Jongho mumbled quietly.

"Well, uh, you came up to me asking for directions to your class, and I immediately took a liking to you, so I wasn't gonna let you get hurt by anyone. You haven't really realized this yet, but every person who was taking you on dates that suddenly ghosted you were vampires seeking their next meal that I kinda, sorta, took out..." Seonghwa scratched the back of his neck sheepishly.

"Hyung, I've been ghosted by three people in the last month! Was- was Yeonjun Hyung a vampire too? Did you kill him?!" Jongho was almost in hysterics as he seemingly recalled a surplus of people who just disappeared without saying anything.

"Jong, Yeonjun is a vampire, or rather was..." Seonghwa trailed off.

"You- you killed him..." Jongho mumbled as his eyes welled with tears. His head fell as his tears slipped from his eyes. The five of us didn't know what to do or say as the youngest man caved in on himself.

I glanced back up at Seonghwa to see his eyes were the widest I'd ever seen them. His mouth was slightly open as he seemed to realize something us others did not.

"Jongho, how did Yeonjun treat you?" Seonghwa asked softly. Jongho was quietly sobbing before he responded.

"He- he was so sweet to me, Hyung. He always treated me well; helping me with class work on late night FaceTime calls; helping me out with how other students here treated me; he even would stay on those late night calls to make sure I actually fell asleep..." Jongho recalled.

"You must have been his mate, Jongho. I- I didn't know..." Seonghwa's eyes began to quickly drip tears down his cheeks. Us other four vampires had extremely shocked or dismal looks on our faces as we watched this all unfold.

"I knew he was the one for me, and- and you just- you killed him? For what? What did he do to you?!" Jongho was shouting once again as he jumped up from the bed. He was still shedding tears even as his face grew stone cold.

"I thought he was hurting you-"

"Bullshit! You know I'd have told you if someone was hurting me! What was the real reason? Huh? What did he ever do to you?!" Jongho continued to holler at the oldest male.

"It wasn't really what he did to me; it was what he had done to Yeosang. I thought he would've also abused you..." Seonghwa was quietly crying as he accepted every weak hit Jongho mustered up at him. Jongho fell to his knees as he cupped his face.

"Yeonjun's passing was the reason you ended up in the emergency room a month ago, wasn't it, Jongho? You didn't know he had passed at the time, but you seemingly fell into such a depression so randomly... that has to be why," Hongjoong spoke softly as he brought Jongho into his arms.

"What? What do you mean? Why didn't you tell me this sooner?" Seonghwa asked softly.

"I didn't know why I felt so awfully... and it has to do with my Hyung killing the guy I love?" Jongho was calming down slightly as he allowed the surgeon to hold him.

"Hwa, the head nurse had told me that a student of your school attempted to end his life, so I scrubbed out of surgery and went to see who it could've been. I didn't expect to see our youngest friend in that icu bed. I- I didn't even know that losing your mate would hurt you like that until now." Hongjoong was softly crying.

"I think I'm gonna take Jongho outta here for a bit, Hyung," San was the first of us remaining three to speak up.

"Come on, bud, let's go have a boys day," San mumbled as he picked up the human.

"Why would he..." Jongho fell asleep mid sentence from exhaustion. Wooyoung and I quietly followed behind San and Jongho to Jongho's dorm room.
