Yeosang's pov
Later in the day, we left my dorm to meet up with Wooyoung. We decided to meet at a cute cafe close to campus.
"Sannie! Sangie!" Wooyoung shouted as he waved us over. San and I walked towards Wooyoung with our hands holding each other's. Wooyoung gasped once he noticed.
"Are you two dating?!" Wooyoung exclaimed. San and I looked at each other before nodding happily. Wooyoung looked sad for a split second before he became happy.
"Aww, you finally found someone Sannie? It didn't take too long for you to ask him out, did it? Sangie, was the sex so good you couldn't say no?" Wooyoung laughed loudly. We began to get weird looks from strangers, causing San to cover his best friend's mouth.
Wooyoung looked tiredly up at San before San pulled his hands away, making sounds of disgust.
"Woo, if you ever do that again, I'll whack you," San promised. Wooyoung just smiled innocently.
"What did I do?" Wooyoung asked. I smiled softly and laughed at his question.
"What didn't you do is easier to answer," San sighed jokingly. We soon sat down at the cafe table and ordered our food and drinks.
"So, who asked who out? Give me the details!" Wooyoung exclaimed. I smiled at him and began to speak.
"We'll, San attempted to ask me out by beating around the bush, but I understood him and accepted it," I said. San whined at me for telling the truth.
"Sangie," San whined. I laughed softly and gently caressed the top of his right hand with my left.
"What, Sannie? It's the truth!" I kissed his cheek softly. San smiled and leaned his head on my shoulder. I smiled and leaned my head on his.
Soon, the waitress brought our food to the table.
"Wow, Woo, San, who's this cutie? You've never brought him here before!" She exclaimed as she looked at me. My cheeks darkened as I looked at San.
"He's my boyfriend," San said protectively. I smiled softly, loving how it sounded to be called "my boyfriend" by my mate.
It sounded amazing to hear it fall from his lips. It felt even more amazing to have him holding onto me so dearly.
"Woah, okay, I'll back off, San. You don't have to be so mean," she pouted before walking away. I smiled at San and pecked his lips quickly.
"Thank you, Sannie. I didn't know what to respond to her," I mumbled and began to eat my cake and drink my coffee.
"No problem, Sangie. I'll always be here for you," San smiled sweetly at me. I kissed his cheek before smiling sheepishly at him. I got chocolate on his cheek from my lips.
"I'm sorry." I grabbed a napkin and began to gently wipe the chocolate frosting away.
"It's okay," San said and kissed the top of my hand.
"Woah, you two are really into each other, huh? I've never seen you so sweet with someone before, San," Wooyoung said, his eyes wide.
"I don't really know how or why, but I just know I don't want to hurt him, or let him get hurt," San spoke, quickly making up a lie as to why we're so close so quickly. I smiled softly and hugged his arm to my chest. San smiled sweetly at me and kissed my cheek.
"Aww, that's sweet," Wooyoung said, an unrecognizable emotion in his eyes.
"What's wrong, woo?" San asked, immediately picking up on what I noticed.
"Ah, it's really nothing, Sannie," Wooyoung mumbled as he took a bite of his cake. He sipped his coffee before giving in to San's knowing look.
"Fine; I just worry about you, Sannie. I don't want Yeosang to hurt you like he did. This sounds mean but I really don't think you can handle another heartbreak like that again," Wooyoung explained.
"Woo, it's okay. I know Yeosang would never hurt me-"
"We only met him less than a week ago! How can either of us believe that?" Wooyoung asked. I looked at San before the waitress came over with the bill. I paid it and asked the pair to follow me to the park.
No one would be at the park right now, so that's why I told them to follow me to the park. When we got there, it was empty apart from us.
"Woo, San and I have something to tell you about us, okay?" I began as my palms began to sweat. I wiped my hands on my jeans before I continued talking.
"I don't really know any other way to break this to a person, but... I'm a vampire. San is my mate," I said. Wooyoung laughed loudly.
"No you aren't, Yeosang. Vampires aren't real." Wooyoung laughed again until I snapped a big branch off of the closest tree.
"Holy shit! What else can you do?" Wooyoung asked, in awe of my truth.
"I can compel people, and I can turn others into vampires. If San wants to be with me forever, I can mark him as my mate and he'll become a vampire." I explained. Wooyoung's eyes widened.
"So that's why you two are so close? Because you're mates?" Wooyoung asked for confirmation. San and I nodded.
"That's not fair to San, then! He has no choice in this relationship!" Wooyoung said. I furrowed my brows in confusion.
"San has always had choices in this relationship. I've never forced anything on him! If he didn't want to date me, I would've been okay just being friends, however, he wanted us to date, so we are. And if you're referring to the mate bond as "no choice" then I have no choice in this matter either.
"I didn't chose San as my mate; when I became a vampire, another soul came into existence to meet with mine when the timing was right. So, if you're gonna be mad at me for "forcing" anything on San, at least know all the facts. One fact being that I have and had no choice either, Wooyoung!" I explained. Wooyoung rolled his eyes and grabbed San's wrist.
"Come on, Sannie. You need to be with someone better," Wooyoung said as he began to pull San with him. San yanked his hand away from Wooyoung's.
"No, Wooyoung. We're literally made for each other! There isn't and won't be anyone better for me!" San exclaimed. Wooyoung rolled his eyes.
"Yes, there's always someone better out there. There's always someone more safe to be with! There's always someone who will love you more! There's always someone better!" Wooyoung pulled San again to no avail.
"No, Woo. You aren't taking me away from my boyfriend." San said in a stern voice. Wooyoung's eyes widened hearing san's tone.
"Sannie, I'm trying to protect you! Yeosang could put you in so much danger just by being around him! Let's get out of this mess before anything happens!" Wooyoung exclaimed.
"He's right about that, Sannie. I could put you in a lot of danger, and I don't want to risk that. Maybe we shouldn't-"
"No, Yeosang. We aren't breaking up because Wooyoung is putting thoughts in your mind. I don't care about the potential danger; I care about you!" San said.
"But, Sannie, I don't want you to get hurt because of me and my life. I really don't want to be apart from you, but you'd be safer without me." I said sadly. San immediately came to me and held me to himself.
"Baby, I don't care if I'd be safer. I want to be with you! If anything, you could mark me tonight and I'd be a vampire! Then, I wouldn't be able to die so easily, and I'd be able to protect you better as well, right?" San asked.
"Babe, please don't make rash decisions. You didn't even know vampires existed until four hours ago! Why would you want to give up your life?" I asked.
"Because I want to be with you, regardless of the dangers I'd be in. Because I know you and I can handle those dangers and persevere. Please don't break up with me because of Wooyoung!" San was begging me at this point.
I glanced over San's shoulder at wooyoung. He was looking expectantly at me, silently saying I should break up with him.
"I'm sorry, San. Please forgive me," I whispered before I separated us and sped back to my dorm. I locked myself in my room and sat down on my bed, tears streaming down my cheeks.
My chest ached as I sobbed softly. I couldn't believe that I really broke up with my mate because of his friend.
I hate that I'm so easily swayed, but I know if I stay with him he'll be in danger just like Jiyeon was.
Jiyeon knew how to protect herself well enough to not need my protection. She knew of vampires before I even came into her life.
San has only known vampires for four hours. San has no way of protecting himself from vampires. San could get hurt because of me.
I don't want to lose him, but I have to leave him and this life behind. I can't let my mate die because of my stupidity or another vampire.
Tonight, I'll drop out of this college. I'll move all of my few belongings to Japan. I've never been there before, but maybe it'll be a good change for me.
I'll have to talk to Seonghwa before I leave. He has to know why I'm leaving again so soon. Maybe I can ask him to keep an eye on San.
San doesn't know Seonghwa is a vampire, but Seonghwa knows San is my mate. Seonghwa should, hopefully, be able to keep San safer than I'd be able to.
