Faith In God

One day, a man was sitting under an avocado tree with his first and truest disciple beside him. Two avocados sat in front of them. One was cut, greenish-yellow on the inside, and soft and buttery, proving to be ripe. As for the second avocado, it remained a mystery, for he had not cut it yet.

"This avocado is ripe." As he inspected the avocado, the man said, his disciple sitting upright and facing his leader in confusion. "But how do you know if you haven't even cut the avocado yet?"
"I have faith in this avocado."The young man narrowed his eyes, still looking at the avocado intensely. The disciple knew that his leader was a very religious man, and his faith in God was tremendous. After Ramadhan, he would fast the sittat and pray the five daily prayers even when he was ill and couldn't stand. He truly was a believer of God, so the fact that he had faith in a mere object was beyond him.

"So you're telling me you have as much faith in God as you do in this avocado?" The disciple laughed at his leader. "No." The young man replied, and the disciple couldn't catch any hint of irritation or anger on his face but could sense the firmness from his voice even if he was quite away.

"I have as much faith in this avocado as I do in God." He corrected his disciple, who stood confused once again, seeing no difference in both sentences.

"You see..." The man began to explain to the disciple. Finally understanding, they cut the avocado in half and it was just as -- no, even ripper than the last one they cut. This man's disciple grew more admiration for his leader ever since then and held more faith in God.

According to you, what do you think this man meant? And was there really a difference between the two sentences? And if so, then what were they?

"God doesn't want his greatest creation; his masterpiece; human beings to diminish Him to the point of being compared to the faith one had in an object. By saying; faith in God as much as the faith in an object was exactly that. But otherwise, I was comparing the faith of an object to His, showing that He is superior. Just imagine being compared to an object of your own creation. Verily, we must have enormous faith in God and in His creations, for He is all-knowing and the most generous."
