Chapter 10: Postpone to Prepone
"Let's go Sanskaar." Kavita says as she walks out but Sanskaar was too busy looking at Swara.
"Sanskaar!"
"Oh, sorry I. . ."
"Let's go."
He notices her mood off and creases his forehead "What happened? Is everything okay?"
"Yeah." She replies, feeling low but Sanskaar doesn't believe her. "Are you sure?"
"Yeah, I'm just tired."
"Okay, let's go." Sanskaar says and the two walk towards the exit.
Sameer heads towards Swara with the note in his hand and takes a seat near her, facing her with questioning expressions. Swara's eyes fall on the note and then she glanced at Sameer.
"What's that?" She asked, knowing it was the same note Sanskaar sent her and Sameer looked down at it.
"I don't know, I just found it on the floor." Sameer replies, throwing the note on the floor again.
"Oh okay." She sighed a small relief and glanced away, gazing around.
"I'm sorry but I have to leave, it's something important." Jayant says while coming there, both Sameer and Swara look up at him.
"Okay, bye." Sameer said and stood up and Swara stood up too.
"Hopefully see you. . ."
"After the wedding." Sameer interrupted and Jayant curves a fake smile. "I actually, need to postpone that." He replied and Swara's face lit up.
"Oh, that's great. . . I mean why?" Sameer uttered and had purposely made Jayant hear that.
"I need to leave for Singapore and crack that deal. But I'll be back after a month to make Swara mine, so you don't need to worry Sameer."
"Take your time Jayant, no ones in a hurry."
Jayant tried to fake a laugh but it wouldn't come out, he so badly wanted Sameer out of the way.
"Okay, we will leave then and hopefully see you after a year." Sameer says and starts walking away. Swara looks at Jayant with a small smirk and follows Sameer.
Jayant angrily grit his teeth as he watched the two walking out "Sameer has gotten out of hand, I need him to be controlled."
**
Sameer and Swara reach Gadodia Mansion and look on. "How did he reach here before us?" Sameer wondered, surprised to see Jayant's car parked outside.
"We came walking and he had a car, it wasn't that hard for him to be here before us." Swara responded and the two enter inside.
They see Jayant sat with Shekhar and Nayonika while drinking tea.
"Jayant, what a surprise. Café se coffee nahi mili jo yaha aa gaye? (Didn't you get coffee from the café that you came here?)" Sameer insulted and Swara bit her inner cheeks to control her laugh.
"Sameer!" Shekhar sternly shouted as he glared at Sameer, who walked closer with Swara.
"Jayant told us about him leaving for Singapore, so he decided he wants to marry Swara. . ."
"Yeah we know, a month later." Sameer interrupted.
"No, in a week. I actually postponed the meeting." Jayant revealed, shocking Sameer and Swara.
"What?" Swara shockingly asked "But that's too early."
"No it isn't, its enough for us to make arrangements. You're graduating from college in a weeks time aren't you? So it should be perfect." Sameer and Swara look at Shekhar, who then faces Jayant with a smile.
"Dad, if she's saying it's too early then it is. Let her. . ."
"Enough!" Shekhar shouts, standing up in anger while glaring at Sameer. "What is wrong with you? Why can't you behave!"
"I am behaving Dad. Why can't you open your eyes?"
"Since when did you start caring for her? Since when did she start manipulating you? What did she tell you that you're all wrapped around her finger?"
"Dad, you won't understand cause you're wrapped around this man's finger. You dance on his tune more than you listen to us."
"Just shut up Sameer! Why didn't you let Jayant and Swara spend time alone?"
"Why should I? They're not married and she doesn't like him, so. . ."
"Who said she doesn't? She does! Don't you have any shame? Do you even know how embarrassed and ashamed I was when Jayant told me you would insult him and support Swara in her lies against him!"
Sameer and Swara look at Jayant, who placed the tea mug on the table and stood up.
"Papa please! It's not Sameer's fault, he was only. . ."
"Don't interfere!" Shekhar shouts, staring at Swara with anger.
"If she likes him then why does he think she's against him Dad?" Sameer asked, using Shekhar's words against him.
"Papa, Sameer isn't at fault and he was with me to protect me. Which you couldn't possibly do." Swara defends and insults Shekhar.
"Swara's not marrying Jayant and that's final."
"She is and that's my final decision!" Shekhar declares. "And to remind you, she had promised me so in a week, Jayant and Swara would be married."
Swara's eyes begin to moist and Jayant smirks. Nayonika shakes her head in disbelief worriedly, not wanting any fights to happen.
"I will also see how Jayant marries her." Sameer challenges and storms off.
Swara lowers her gazes and walks away, heading towards her room and Shekhar faces Jayant. "Don't worry about Sameer, I'll take care of him. You make arrangements for the wedding." Jayant nods with a smile and starts walking out.
Nayonika stands up, looking at Shekhar. "Shekhar. . ."
"Not you now please." He requests and she looks down, while he starts thinking of something.
**
Sheesh and Sahil were heading out from the college and as they started walking, Sanskaar blocks their way.
"Guys, I'm sorry." He apologised after feeling guilty.
The two looked at him and then at each other.
"Ohh, so you're sorry for what you did?" Sheesh asked, facing him again and he nodded with a frown.
"And you want us to forgive you?" Sahil asked as he looked at him. He nodded again.
"Okay fine." Sheesh says and Sanskaar looks at him with hope.
"But we have a condition." Sahil utters, looking at Sanskaar with folded arms.
"What?"
"Tell Kavita that you were also involved." Sanskaar was shocked by the condition Sheesh had put forth.
"What? Are you guys mad?"
"No, you are mad to come to us thinking we will forgive you! Do you think we're your dogs? Who you use whenever you want and throw whenever you want? For that girl, you left us and now, don't come back to us! We have no time for a bullshitter like you!" Sahil angrily insults and storms past Sanskaar.
"Don't show us your ugly face ever again, we find you poisonous!" Sheesh warned and walks past him.
Sanskaar turns around and watched them leave, feeling guilty by his deed. He wanted to walk after them but he knew they wouldn't forgive him because the mistake he made wasn't small, it was so big that it ended their friendship. He started to feel low and lonely, despite having Kavita besides him, he misses the old times when he was trying to get her besides him.
**
Swara was sat in her room, feeling helpless and captive, though she had a life, she had absolutely no control over it and she doesn't want to get married to Jayant. She really doesn't, but her choice wasn't really respected here.
Swara started remembering how they first met this trouble, Jayant.
"It's a wonderful party Mr Gadodia." Jayant uttered, shaking hands with Shekhar for the first time.
"Thank you. . .?"
"You can call me Jayant."
"Jayant. . . I heard about you. You're the one who built his empire in 3 years, right?"
"I don't like praising myself but yes, I am that person."
"It's wonderful to meet you."
"Mr Gadodia, I heard about your financial crisis which occurred after the Maheshwari's backed out. If you don't mind then can I sign that deal with you?"
Shekhar was much pleased to hear that, he wasn't sure how to respond but it was all positive.
"Yes, I mean this is wonderful." Shekhar says and Jayant smiles.
"But I have a condition. . ." Shekhar's face fell as soon as Jayant said this.
"What?" Shekhar asked and Jayant moved his gazes towards Swara, who was standing with Kavita.
"I want to marry your daughter Swara."
Shekhar was speechless and he looked at Swara. "Sure, that would be wonderful." He instantly responded with a smile.
"Can she show me around?"
"Yeah sure." Shekhar says and then yells for Swara. Swara excuses herself and walks towards Shekhar.
"Can you take our guest to the washroom, I have other clients to attend." Swara unwillingly shakes her head and Shekhar walks away.
"Please follow me." Swara utters and he nods, she starts walking with him.
"You're looking very pretty." He whispered and she felt uncomfortable.
As they walked away from the crowed and towards the washroom, Jayant holds Swara's hand and starts pulling her towards him.
She was shocked by his sudden move.
"Um, what are you doing?"
Jayant was silence and was bringing her closer to him, she felt uncomfortable and started pushing him away.
"Stop! Just stop!" She shouted, moving her face away. He tried to kiss her but she kicked him and pushed him away.
Feeling scared and frightened, she immediately ran down to inform her family about the misbehaviour but as she reached there, she heard her father declaring her relationship with Jayant, who she realised was the man who tried to molest her.
After the party was over, Swara told Shekhar about Jayant but he denied to believe her.
Swara sniffs, wiping her tears as she remembered the past.
She felt lonely when no one had believed her other than Kavita. She trusted no one but Kavita and the reason why she wouldn't reveal Sanskaar's name was because she knew Kavita had started liking him and she wouldn't believe her without proof.
**
Kavita was in her house, sitting on her bed while thinking about Sanskaar, a smile curls on her lips and she looses herself in his thoughts, hinting she started to like him. His images, voice, and concern flashed in her mind, making her grin to the point that her cheeks began hurting.
A small sigh escaped her mouth and she laid on her side, hugging her cushion. "Why am I behaving like this?" She asked herself, palming her forehead in embarrassment.
Her phone buzzed and she moved her gazes towards it, holding it in her hand. She read the message and her eyes widened. "Mom is greeting married again?" She sounded upset and disappointed, throwing her phone to the side.
***
It was morning and the students started entering the college. Sheesh and Sahil rushed inside, glancing around while hoping to spot Swara.
Swara had walked inside and as soon as she did, she felt a hand pull her to the side.
"What the. . ." The hand pressed onto her lips and her eyes widened staring at two guilty brown orbs.
"I'm willing to do anything to repay you. Please forgive me Swara, the guilt won't leave me alone." Sanskaar pleaded and Swara jerked his hand away from her mouth.
"NO! I don't want to forgive you so just leave ME alone!" She shouted as loud as possible, luckily there was no one there because Sanskaar had dragged her into a corner.
"Swara."
"If you touch me ever again then I swear I'll break your hands!" She angrily threatened and stormed off.
Sanskaar releases a sigh, desperately wanting Swara's apology but he knew he wouldn't have it easily.
Sheesh and Sahil see Swara walking out in anger. "She looks angry."
"Let's risk it. We might not get a chance later on." Sahil whispered but Sheesh was hesitant.
"I feel like she'd insult us in front of everyone."
"Hmm, let's leave it till lunch time, till then we execute our plans." Sahil utters and Sheesh agrees.
The two then walk away to make their plans against Sanskaar a success.
**
Sanskaar was walking towards the classroom, unaware of the marbles being spilled on the floor. He steps on a bunch and looses his balance, falling onto the floor.
After hearing a loud thud, few students look in that direction and start to laugh, seeing Sanskaar on the floor. In a matter of second, black cockroaches began to crawl towards him, he widened his eyes and tried to stand up, fearing they would reach him and each time he did, he slid back down.
"Oh no! Oh shoot!" He was frightened by cockroaches, they scare him to death and whenever he sees one, automatically his eyes start to water and he can't help it.
Sheesh and Sahil stand at a distance, smirking to see their plan number 1, be a success.
"This was the beginning Sanskaar. . ." Sahil trialled off.
"There's more to come." Sheesh continued.
Sanskaar, who couldn't get up started to crawl and it worked, he managed to save himself from the cockroaches by crawling out of the mess. He could feel his heart batter against his chest and he sighed a relief, standing up immediately.
"One. . . Two. . . Three. . ."
As Sheesh finished counting, a bucket of cow dung tilts and spills on Sanskaar from the top, Sanskaar gazes up and the remaining drops right into his face.
The students near start laughing and the students from the class come out along with the teachers and share a laugh. Sanskaar felt embarrassed and mocked, he wipes the cow dung from his eyes and opens them, finding everyone laughing at him.
Having to take no more, he made his way towards the boys locker room, where he luckily had extra pair of clothes and a shower.
**
It was lunch time and Swara was sat on her table, she felt lonely as Kavita wasn't in college today. Kavita had texted Swara that she was off for two days due to some personal issues and Swara didn't message her back to ask what was wrong as she knew Kavita needed personal space.
Sheesh and Sahil sat opposite Swara, gaining her attention.
"We have an offer. . ." Sahil trails off and Sheesh continues "We want your help in exposing Sanskaar. We want Kavita to know soon before she finds out from others and goes through a heartbreak. Sanskaar isn't the right guy for her, so we want him to expose himself. Will you help us?"
Swara thinks for a while and knowing Kavita will go through a heartbreak, she had decided it was now before it was later. "Okay, I'm in." Swara accepted and Sheesh and Sahil smirked.
"We have a plan. . ."
"Leave that onto me." Swara interrupts, "I'll get him to expose himself with my own techniques." She adds, raising her head while thinking of a plan.
Sheesh and Sahil nodded, standing up.
'Within a week, I'll get Sanskaar's truth in front of Kavita. But will I be breaking her heart for my own selfish need?' Swara wondered to herself, not wanting to hurt her friend yet wanting to expose Sanskaar.
"We have a match to catch so we will catch up with you later on." They leave after Swara had nodded.
**
Sheesh and Sahil were standing with the crowd, looking at Sanskaar standing with his teammates.
"Why does it smell weird?" One of the boy asked and Sanskaar took a small step back, knowing it was him and he was too scared to be humiliated.
Swara glanced down from the railing and when her eyes landed on Sanskaar, she rolled her eyes.
The whistle blew and everyone took their position, Sheesh and Sahil throw a note on the side and someone picks it up.
After reading it, the person passes it to their teammates and they look on, feeling insulted and humiliated by what was written.
Swara had seen Sheesh and Sahil throw the note and wondered what would happen next and as the whistle blew again, the basketball match started between two teams, the opposite team's eyes were on Sanskaar, who started running to tackle the ball but before he could, the opposite team person blocked him and pushed him.
At first Sanskaar thought it was an accident but as the game continued, they kept pushing and punching Sanskaar under the name of 'guarding' the ball.
The referee noticed and blew a whistle but they made it seem like they were unaware by what was happening and soon, while running, the opposite team player purposely trips Sanskaar and Sanskaar falls flat on his stomach, hitting his nose on the ground hardly which caused it to bleed.
"Ahhh!" Sanskaar sighed in pain and was helped up by his team mates, taken out of the team and replaced by another member. Sheesh and Sahil smile but they weren't as happy to see him hurt. Due to the injury, Sanskaar was ordered to go to the medical room.
Swara, who had come down glances around for the note, as she walks past the team, she sees it on the bench and instantly picks it up.
'The other team smell like cow dung and we will crush them into pieces. - Sanskaar.'
Swara pressed her lips together to control her smile and then walked out with the note, understanding Sheesh and Sahil's plan.
She didn't feel bad for Sanskaar, not even a tiny bit, she knew he doesn't deserve her sympathy after ruining her life, it was his fault that Jayant had preponed the wedding date.
Swara made her way towards the medical room and entered, her eyes land on Sanskaar who had a plaster on his nose. Sanskaar senses someone's presence and looks up, seeing Swara standing there.
After a second, Swara's phone buzzes and she slides it out of her pocket, pressing on the message she received. As the video plays, her giggles slips out of her mouth and form into laughter. Sanskaar's forehead creases as he stares at Swara laughing.
His phone pings and he stares at it, feeling confused, he picks it up from the table and opens it, only to see him tagged in a video of him falling and breaking his nose. He sees the comments and everyone were laughing due to the way it was edited, first it had Sanskaar falling down normally and then it repeated the fall with a bong noise in the background. He knew instantly who was behind that video.
"This video of yours is much more interesting than my fake one. . ." Swara trials off after controlling her laughter and Sanskaar looks at her.
"I just came to tell you that. . . I don't feel bad for you and that you deserved this. I know I sound harsh but you don't deserve to see my calm side either!" She harshly remarked and turned to leave.
"I'm sorry Swara. . . I truly am." He replied in his genuine tone but Swara sighed, turning back around.
"You really are?" He shakes his head positively and she scoffs at his lie "If you really were then you would've told Kavita the TRUTH! You wouldn't have been starting a new relationship with her based on lies!"
Sanskaar was silent as Swara was telling the truth. "You're not worth anyone's apologies. Do you know why I'm not that mad at Sheesh and Sahil?" She questioned, knowing he would have no answer. "Because they didn't deny the truth like you did!" She completed.
"All you care about is yourself and if you really want my forgiveness or theirs, then Kavita would've known the truth by now!" Swara adds before she walked out, leaving Sanskaar affected with her words.
To Be Continued. . .
