"So what you're trying to tell me now is that he just kissed you. He just randomly decided to kiss you?"
"Yes oh, Becca, yes. How many times do I have to say it?" I say while throwing my hands in the air.
"Wow. Is he fine?" Rebecca asks, sitting comfortably on the bed.
I sit beside her, recalling Daniel's plump red lips, his soft curly hair, his slim but well-built body, his crystal clear eyes– oh those eyes.
I sigh. "Fine is an understatement, my dear." I finally reply, falling back on the soft bedspreads that feel like they can swallow me up.
"He's beautiful." I mumble mostly to myself than to Rebecca.
Rebecca laughs beside me. "You look so lovestruck. I should probably take a picture."
She takes out her phone– which I didn't even know she owns– and snaps me before I can protest.
I shrug and close my eyes, trying to recall every single detail of that moment. Despite the kiss being a really short one, it was a kiss nonetheless and I cherished every nanosecond of it.
I cherished it and wanted more. I still want more.
"Too bad you're never seeing him again." Rebecca says, interrupting my thoughts. My eyes snap open as a sudden jolt of pain passes through my chest.
"I can't not see him again." I find myself crying out.
Rebecca chuckles. "You better don't get carried away. Have you forgotten the situation you're in? You have a twin sister living in your house remember?"
I groan, shutting my eyes tight.
I can't just leave Daniel. I already like him.
"But I like Daniel." I pout.
"How can you like someone you just met? His fine face is just confusing you, sweetheart. Besides you're not the girl he likes. He likes Adamma not you."
Ouch.
"You're so mean." I say, glaring at her.
"I'm not mean. I'm just telling you the truth."
I sigh, knowing full well she's right. A moment of silence passes between us, letting a thought crawl through my head.
"Becca?"
"Yes?"
"You said Adamma is like really smart right?"
"Yeah, why?"
"What if she has a good reason for whatever she's doing?"
"What reason could be good enough for stealing someone else's identity?" From her tone, you can tell she's really not a fan of Adamma.
"I don't know but let's just leave her. Till like Friday at least."
"Why Friday? What's happening on Friday?"
"Well..."I start off shyly. "Adamma's school is holding a Valentine's day party on Friday. And Daniel is supposed to be my date." Or her date... whatever.
"Hmm. I don't think it's right but that's your business sha."
"Come on, it's just until next tomorrow. Today is Wednesday." I say, feeling a little bad that she's not agreeing with me.
"I know. I mean it's fine if that's what you want to do. After all, it's not like I don't enjoy your company."
"Awwn, I'm blushing." I say, dramatically fanning my face.
"You're not okay." Becca says with a laugh.
"Hey, Becca."
"What's up?"
"Can you do me a favour?" I say with a serious edge to my voice.
"Depends on the favour."
"Okay. Can you help me visit my house?" I ask hesitantly.
Becca scoffs, making to stand up. "Kene, please don't start."
"Please nau, I'm begging you." I hold on to her hand, preventing her from moving further away.
"I can't go there. It's too far." She says reluctantly.
"I'm begging you. Please, it's not that far."
"It is. Besides, Adamma's step mum would never let me."
"She will. I'll make up a reason for you to go. Please."
"No, no, Kene, no."
"Please nau. I'll pay you."
"No. I'm not- wait you'd pay me?"
"Yes. I'm Adamma and Adamma is rich. I'd give you money." I say with hope. I honestly don't even know where or how I'm going to get money but whatever. I'd figure it out.
"You don't have access to Adamma's account." Rebecca, however, points out.
"I'd ask the Senator. Just please visit my house."
"Why'd you even want me to visit your house?"
"So you can help me find out things that are happening there."
"Things like?"
"Like if anybody has noticed Adamma is a fake, I don't know."
"Hm, fine." She says with a sigh. I squeal, hugging her tight.

One second, I'm enjoying lunch with Frank... The next second, we're running for our lives alongside other equally terrified people.
"Frank!" I scream out upon hearing the sound of a bullet.
I just wanted to eat rice. Nothing more.
Frank continues to pull me and we make a sharp turn into a less crowded street.
Our feet splash in the muddy water as we continue to run away from the whole chaos.
Frank leads me into an incomplete building. It looks empty asides from clumps of damaged furniture at one end of the room. We spend about two minutes trying to catch our breaths.
"What the hell just happened?!" I ask once my breathing has evened out.
"Shh!" He places his forefinger on his lips, shutting me up at once. "Stay here. I'm coming."
"Where are you going?" I ask, while whispering. I can still make out the sound of people screaming and cars honking but it's muffled now.
"I want to make sure we're actually safe here. Just chill."
"No, no. You aren't leaving me here!" I say in a loud whisper.
"I won't be long I promise. I'm just going to peep outside a little." He also whispers, leaving before I can protest.
"Oh God." I mumble to myself, wiping my forehead with my trembling hands.
I take a look at the empty building I'm currently standing in the middle of. It's actually not an incomplete building like I had presumed it to be. It's more like an old apartment that looks to have been destroyed by fire. I limp around a little, a hard jolt of pain passing through my legs up unto my waist.
"Freaking hell!" I yell out in pain. Tears immediately come to sting my eyes and I involuntarily get into a sitting position.
I haven't felt this much pain since I got back from the hospital.
The pain causes me to release a moan alongside a low whimper. I seal my eyes shut and try to focus on anything asides my throbbing legs.
"What happened? Are you okay?!" Frank says, rushing to my side.
"Oh hey, you're back." I say, peeling my eyes open.
"Yes. What happened to you?"
"Nothing. I just felt a little pain." I watch his face dissolve into a frown.
"I'm sor-"
"You're apologizing again." I say with a chuckle.
He smiles as well but his eyes still hold worry.
"What happened outside anyway?" I ask. Frank comes to sit beside me and groans.
"Two guys from different cult groups started a fight. Then I think other members of the cults joined in the fight. Now, the police is there, trying to– I don't even know what those ones are doing."
"Cult?" I ask, slightly bewildered.
"Yes. This is the first time I'm witnessing one but I've heard it happen many times before."
Wow.
"And the worst part is I don't know when it'll be okay for us to leave here."
I shudder. "What time is it?"
Frank groans again. "I have no idea but it should be almost three o'clock."
I nod.
Silence engulfs both of us as we wait for the ruckus outside to still.
My mind, however, is the opposite of silent as thoughts continue to flood my head.
What if the cultists come here to hide from the police?
What if an injured person comes here and splatters blood everywhere?
What if kidnappers hang around here?
What if–
The loud sound of a plastic bottle dropping, makes me jump in fright.
"What was that?" I ask, my heart thumping.
"It was just the breeze. Calm down." He says, rubbing my arm soothingly.
My nerves calm a little. The said breeze whooshes past again spreading goose pimples all over me.
I fold my arms together in an attempt to gain warmth.
"You're cold." Frank says. I nod in agreement. Frank surprises me by cuddling me in.
"Uh...what are you doing?" I ask, my voice barely audible.
"Sharing warmth? What does it look like I'm doing?"
"I think I'm good." I say, trying to get out of his embrace.
"Uh...no you're not. Your hands are colder than Mummy Samuel's fanta."
"Mummy who?" I ask with a chuckle.
"Just stop talking and let me cuddle you."
I fake a glare as I let him pull me back in his embrace.
"You're so cute..." Frank mumbles in my ear and I feel my heart pound in my chest.
I look up to him, expecting to find the usual amusement swirling around in his eyes. What I see there is however far from amusement.
"...You're also really pretty. And smart. And–" He stops talking and just stares at me.
"And?" I ask. I don't know if it's my imagination or if he actually starts staring at my lips. Feeling self-conscious, I bite on them. He subsequently takes in a sharp breath and starts to bring his face closer to mine.
My eyes dance around in anticipation, in the process, fluttering down to his lips. "Fra-" I start to say but his lips on mine interrupt.
My tummy bursts with excitement as Frank actually kisses me. I feel the need to push him away, to tell him to stop but something– probably the adrenaline from earlier– makes me do the opposite as I kiss him back.
