"Alex what did.... what did you just say?" Eric said baffled

"Will you go to the dance with me?" Alex repeated slightly confused

Eric got up cursing under his breath so Alex wouldn't hear him. He looked back at her shaking his head.
"I can't."

"Well if it's because you can't dance I can teach you. Oh and my parents can finally meet you."

"Alex..."

"And Echo Creek is pretty used to weird having met my family. It will be fun!"

"I can't go with you."

"Why not?"

"It's complicated."

"Just tell me why."

"No."

"Well why not."

"You wouldn't understand."

"Is it my folks?"

"Something like that."

"Eric tell me now."

"Alex......"

"Tell me!"

"BECAUSE IT WILL NEVER WORK ALEXANDRA!!!"

Alex gasped in shock while stepping back slightly. "I just... I just thought....." She spoke choking slightly on her words.

Eric turned his back on her "Alex, I want you to leave. Now."

Alex looked away and left. He didn't even notice the tears streaming down her eyes.

The day of the dance came and Alex's friends, Kayla and Eva, came over to get ready to the castle and the boys were on the phone talking with them.
Alex had told them the entire story still gloomy from the rejection.

"Well I say it's his loss." Eva looked into the mirror while brushing her hair lightly " He clearly was not your type. "

"He isn't my crush E, he's my friend. At least he was. I guess it was forced on him."

"That may be, but he definitely does not scream at you!" Hugo explained
"He didn't want to have a good time, his loss!"

"Yeah!" Lucas exclaimed "Besides girl you have us!!"

"Still I feel guilty." Alex groaned and lay her head on the table.

Kayla approached her, knelt beside her and whispered in her ear
"You can let the guilt-for-nothing pull you down and ruin your night, or you can have a good time and worry later."

Alex looked to her smiling. She smiled back and walked to her dresser to apply her make up.

The girls ran to the front door of the auditorium to meet the boys, who were waiting patiently for them.

"Sorry we're late. Eva had to get her smoke machine." Alex said breathing irregularly

"No worries. I'm just excited we're actually gonna play." Hugo announced happily

"I know right!" Eva giggled, making Hugo blush a little.

Eva brought out a video camera with the front lens out and pressed the small 'on' button. White smoke started to rapidly stream out.

"Let's do this thang!" Lucas announced and they got into position.

The auditorium was filled with students. Some were dancing, some eating and others talking to friends.
Then from the auditorium doors the gang walked in like they were the stars in a movie. Everyone stopped whatever they were doing just to look at them. 

They're outfits were as stunning and awesome as they're entrance.

Rickey wore a bright blue two piece suit detailed with orange African prints on the collar and ends of the sleeves over a white shirt and orange bow tie, and brown shoes to finish.

Hugo wore a black tux with light spider prints on the fabric. His cufflinks were small triangles with his initials engraved in. He wore his hair in a the same sloppy downpour on the left side of his head, but more well groomed than usual.

Lucas played it simple with designer sunglasses, a white collar and purple bow tie.

Eva wore a flared aquamarine dress, just above her knees. It had spaghetti straps, thick dark blue straps with light blue designs at the top of her chest and waist. Her hair was loose and the red strips were taken out, and tied up in a high ponytail with a soft green bow. She also had blue open toe heels.

Kayla wore a black dress that went below her knees ,little black bows circled round her shoulders to make the sleeves and giving an off shoulder. At her waist, was a big purple bow to the dress a waist line. She wore purple heels, with the heels shaped like bats.

Finally, Alex wore a bright pink frilly dress. It reached to her knees, the sleeves to her elbows, on her waist was a silver leather belt. She wore a small tiara with pink sapphires, with her long hair in a ponytail. Her shoes were simple glittering silver ballerina flats.

The gang walked towards the stage, to meet their rival, Stacey Evans, the meanest girl in school. She approaches them, looks at them from head to toe.
"Woah, you guys look great. Although I don't think the school invited rich snobs."

Kayla raises her finger to talk, but Alex waves her hand for her to back down, " Well Stacey, at least we snobs aren't as cheap as your wardrobe. "

"What did you just say to me?"
She raises a hand to smack her but Alex catches it mid air.

"Oh and uh, take your lean press ons out of my face, unless you want me to bring out some actual claws. And yes they're real." She drops Stacey's hand leaving her flabbergasted.
The gang walk past and dance a little bit before performing on stage.

Just as they are about to perform, getting ready on and backstage, Rickey looks for Kayla to start them off. He finds her, sitting in the corner crying her eyes out into her hands.

"Kayla, what happened?"

She motions to the curtains to answer. Rickey looks behind them to see David dancing with Stacey Evans, then giving her a kiss on the cheek. Rickey stood there astonished and angry.
How could anyone do this to her? He thought,I give up one of the most amazing girls I've ever known and he goes for that.....that...... $$%@%&$%!!!

Rickey looked back at Kayla with most caring eyes she'd ever seen. She got up, wiped her face and started to walk away. Someone grabbed her hand, and turned her to meet the intense gaze in Rickey's brown eyes making her blush.

"You go get yourself cleaned up. I and the others will start without you for now. They'll understand. We'll meet you later, okay?" Kayla nodded back with an intense blush. He hugged her and rushed up to the stage.

Kayla walked to the bathroom feeling the heat on her face. The two had never looked into each others eyes that way. It showed that someone could care about this demon.

Up on stage, the others start their introduction while Rickey gets his electric guitar.

"Heya everyone! You all having a good time?!!"Eva screamed, and the crowd cheered back the loudest they could.

"Alright! We are Rebel Royal, and this goes out to all of you!"

"Where's Kayla?" Alex whispered as she turned her wand to a keytar.

"Long story. I'll take first song."

"Okay,I hope you know what you're doing." Eva starts the song and beats on her tambourine while Hugo played his drums.

Rickey starts playing and so do the others. And just as Kayla walks in they sing...

Rickey: Just when I realize

As they all sang the crowd was in uproar. Everyone cheering, dancing laughing even the teachers were doing the pop, lock and drop. Kayla went backstage dancing and smiling.

Rickey:Now I know my feet
They won't fail me now
So thanks for showing me

Rickey looked back and winked at her, motioning her to come over. Kayla grabbed her axe like bass and ran up to the stage.
Kayla\Rickey:And nothing's stopping me now!

While I rise above the crowd

The crowd cheered for the band chanting 'Rebel Royal' over and over. The gang ran off to backstage laughing and celebrating their first actual performance. Kayla in the midst off it, dragged Rickey from the commotion and hugged him tightly, he stood in slight shock before returning the hug.

"Rickey, I just wanna say thank you. You really are my friend."

"O-oh. No biggie Kayla, it's what I d-"

"But now, I remember the reasons why I used to like more than a friend. Why I used to tell people that I was in love."

She looked up into his eyes with a sweet smile. Rickey began to blush so hard that his face was hotter than the stage lights.
"You.... want......me.....love..... Oh my..... I...... Together?"

"If you want to."

A smile crept along his features and nodded back to respond. The two still holding each other in their arms felt each other getting closer and closer. They felt the heat from each others faces, Kayla's arms crept up to his neck and Rickey pulled her close.
Finally their lips met, both feeling lighter than air. Kayla ran her fingers through his short hair and he pulled her closer, deepening the kiss. He released her from the kiss and looked into her pretty brown eyes and slightly gasping for air.

"So are we a thing now?"

"Yep." And lightly pecked him on the lips. "Come on, let's do another song!" She lightly dragged him on stage, which he didn't mind as he was smiling like an idiot due to the kiss.

Later, on the dance floor, Alex was dancing with Lucas, having a good time as the others played without them for a bit. Kayla started to sing another song for a slow dance. Lucas bowed, Alex giggled at the gesture and held him gently rocking to the beat.

Lucas felt someone tap on his side and a hand gestured if he cut in, Lucas shrugged and let him pass. Alex had her eyes shut as she twirled, she clasped her hands into someone else's making her eyes shoot open, and looked up to met a familiar face.

"Hi. Miss me?"

"E-Eric?!" She was in complete shock as he put his hand on her waist and danced.

Kayla:Wise men say
Only fools rush in

"Eric what are you doing here? Come to scream at me again?!" Alex asked coldly

"I came to apologize."

"Wow. That's nice to hear." She said sarcastically.

Rickey: Like a river flows
Journeys to the sea

"I know your angry, hurt and possibly think I hate you. But really, what I did was because..... because I was afraid. "

"Why are you afraid?" She looked into his gold eyes with caring, but he looked away

"It has something to do with my past, and I can't tell. But I will when you'r..... When I ready."

Rickey/Kayla:  So take my hand

The song ended,Alex hugged him with a smile on her face.
"Take all the time you need."
He shakily hugged her back and eased into the hug.

In the mirror pool at the Naval forest, the dark shadow demon was watching them closely. It chuckled ever so slightly, swirling a jagged finger through the water.
"You will fulfill my former deeds."
