Chapter 2

"For a grown man to bully a little girl, do you not have any shame?"

The girl lifted her head to see a man in dark silver armor with a large iron sword in his hand. Behind him were over a thousand men all in armors - all standing tall in the distant open field. The magnificent horses neigh loudly while black and silver flags waved against the clear sky - all with the silver emblem of a fierce ox and one single character "Zhu".

How long have they been there in silence? For that many people to be there, how was it that he did not noticed until now?

"Commander Zhu, this matter does not concern you"

The man in white already knew who he was dealing with. The man standing before him was over 2 generation older than him, but his aura and strength was 100 times greater.

"Oh? And whose matter is this?" Commander Zhu grinned as he casually tapped his large sword on his shoulder.

"B_ Bai Sect " The man couldn't stop himself from stuttering.

"Bai Sect?" Commander Zhu chuckled as if the name meant nothing to him. "I heard the Bai Sector was a pure and just clan. To witness a member of supposed holy clan harassing a small child"

"Commander Zhu is from the imperial city, you should know better than to put your hands in outer sectors business!" The young man eyes flash with anger at Commander Zhu's sarcasm. "Unless you want to create war between_"

"Don't threaten me with war" The old man stood tall as he smirked. "It is you who is bold enough to trespass on my grounds."

Startled, he stepped back when he realized that the old man was correct. He had unknowingly chased the little girl to the training field that belonged to the great Zhu Family - a reputable noble in the imperial city. Commander Zhu and his army is notoriously known as the demon warriors - leaving river of blood everywhere they go.

"Kill"

The small voice surprised the old Commander. He looked down at the little girl with empty eyes and watched as she forced herself up.

"Oh?" The old man chuckled. "You want me to kill him?"

The man in white stepped back with wide eyes.

"Please..."

The girl was taught never to asked favors from anyone. Her family background and status never allow her to show weakness, but she could not let the man escape and return with others.

"What will I get in return?" Commander Zhu's smile was like a cunning fox.

"Your favor will be returned tenfold..." The little girl bowed her head, knowing well she was making a deal with the devil himself.

With that, Commander Zhu's eyes went back to the young man in white.

"You don't dare_"

But before he could finish, the commander had already cut off his head. Seeing the headless body, the little girl didn't even blink. Instead, she ran back into the forest. Her heart was beating painfully because she could sense her father's life fading. It had been the same feeling when her mother passed away a few days ago.

"Daddy!"

In the middle of all the corpses, a man stood tiredly with only the hold of his sword in the ground. He was breathing faintly until he heard the call of his daughter.

"Susu" The man lifted his head with a smile.

Even though he was covered in wounds and blood was dripping down his forehead, the man still reached out to hug the girl preciously in his arms.

"Susu, you're hurt" He frowned as he felt the bruise on her head and saw the injuries on her neck and cheeks.

Susu heart ached. Even though her father was hurt many time more, all he cared about was her small bruises. Just before she could let her father know she was fine, the sounds of footsteps and armor made her father immediately reached for his sword. Susu took hold of her father's hand and stopped him. She was afraid if he made any more movements, his heart would collapse.

"It seems Master Lei Kai is as they say"

Lei Kai lifted his eyes and saw the group of soldiers. In the front was the old but regal commander with a carefree smile on his face.

"One man above hundred" Commander Zhu took in the sight of the fallen Bai Sect elders.

Anyone would be impressed to see an injured man take down nine powerful enemies.

"Commander Zhu jest" Lei Kai had long recognized the ox emblem on the old man's armor. "Thank you for saving my daughter"

Lei Kai also knew his daughter had came back safe because of Commander Zhu.

"Unfortunately, Lei Kai cannot repay the Commander this favor himself"

"Daddy..."

"Susu" Lei Kai was getting weaker as he pressed his lips against the top of Susu's head. "I'm sorry..."

Before he hit the ground, Susu caught him and set his head on her knees. Her eyes were filled with tears as she looked at her father.

"Susu, you don't look pretty crying"

Her father smiled up at her while his hand touched the tears on her cheeks.

"In this moment... please let this daughter cry"

"Instead, I rather hear you sing"

"What would daddy like to hear?"

"Anything..."

Seeing that her father time was limited, Susu begin to sing. In the dark silent forest, in the middle of death, only the soft gentle sound of Susu's voice was heard. The lullaby was beautiful but painful to listen to. No one could forget the sorrowful scene of the small child singing through her tears while her small, trembling hand closed her father lifeless eyes.
