Chapter 15
They pushed their feet against the ground in a hope to outrun the strange hybrid chasing after them, Marlo refused to look back again as she knew it would only slow her down or cause her to fall. Zach, however, turned his head to his younger brother who was trailing behind the older two and latched his hand onto Gray to pull him forward, the three had reached the edge of the ground and had come to a large pool of water below them with the waterfall gushing clear water below.
Zach was on the left of Gray and Marlo was on his right.
They turned back around and see it roaring again.
"We're gonna have to jump!" Zach yelled over the loud crashing of water.
He looked from Marlo who had nodded her head looking behind her slightly, noticing the Indominous Rex gaining up on them. Marlo was all for jumping but when she turned back to the brothers she noticed how Gray thought differently.
"I can't." He was terrified. If the water wasn't as loud as it was then she was pretty sure she would have heard his heart hammering out from his chest in fear. His face paled slightly as he shook his head at his brother.
"Gray, listen to me. If we don't jump we will die, if we do jump then there is a chance that we will live. I don't know about you but I sure as hell want to live, now is not the time to let your fears take over and stop you from living your life. Even if that life is cut short. So goddamn it you will jump even if I have to push you!" Gray seemed startled by Marlo but nodded his head anyway, he still wasn't confident to jump and held onto her hand.
"Are you ready? Okay, one, two-" Zach started but Marlo had jumped off with Gray who had a tight hold on his brother which resorted in Zach jumping too, and because he was just heavier than Marlo he went down quicker.
The Indominous Rex had caught up by now and opened its jaws as wide as it could before snapping them shut as it tried to grab one if not all of the children. Its teeth had grazed somewhat deeply against the back of Marlo as she was the closest to the Indominous Rex, she had taken in a large amount of air before plummeting down into the cold water.
She felt it.
The Indominous Rex looked over the edge of the water, trying to find the children, the loud crashing of the waterfall made it harder to hear. Surrounding Marlo was a weak colour of red as the water diluted the blood coming from her back, she tried not to wince as she held her breath in order to survive.
She knew that at some point it was going to bite her in the ass but she hoped it was only a small cut but feared that it would open even more. Zach and Gray hadn't taken notice as the bubbles surrounded them like a cloud.
Gray wanted to swim back up to the surface but Zach grabbed hold of him and shook his head, holding a finger out to tell him it would be just a little bit longer. The Indominous Rex continued to peer down, it stood up more and let out a loud roar, turning away and leaving the waterfall.
Gray waited a couple of seconds before pushing his way up to the surface himself, Zach dragging himself along with him. They both looked up at the top of the waterfall before Zach looked around. "Marlo!" He yelled justly loudly enough for them to hear. Marlo had broke the skin of the water and was now able to breathe again.
She looked back up to the cliff and noticed it was empty, her back was beginning to feel a slight stinging sensation but ignored it as she swam to the side, following Zach and Gray to a little muddy pool to the side of the water. Zach had pulled Gray up higher onto the ground and smiled at him proudly.
"You jumped!" Zach had pulled Gray into a hug as Gray let out a shaky laugh, nodding. Marlo was quick to take her black jumper tied from around her waist and she put it on, in a hope that neither of the boys had seen her back. She crawled forward to lay next to Zach who turned his head to look at her. "I told you I wouldn't let anything happen to either of you."
His statement hurt Marlo as she knew she was injured, but decided it was better to let him think otherwise, so she just nodded her head to him and offered a light smile.

Claire and Owen continued driving in the jeep looking for the kids. Owen stopped the jeep in the middle of one of the fields.
"Stay in the car." Owen got out with a tranq gun, closing the door behind him. He continued walking along the tail of one of the fallen dinosaurs. He kept glancing around just to be safe. The Stegosaurus was covered in large scratch marks, bleeding as flies hovered around it. Birds cawing as they flew above them and the rest of the field.
Owen put the gun over his shoulders with the strap as he gently walked over to the Stegosaurus's head. She was struggling to breathe. He placed his hand on her neck, just by her head, rubbing this left hand on her. She huffed out as he gently stroked her rough skin.
"Hi. Hi." Claire got out of the jeep slowly. "I know, I know." Owen tried soothing the Stegosaurus by gently running his hand over her head. Claire walked over calmly, trying not to startle the Stegosaurus. "It's all right. All right, girl. Okay. Okay, okay. You're okay." Claire placed her hand on her and gulped. She tilted her head while Owen looked up to her.
The Stegosaurus tries raising her head but drops she back down as she slowly dies. Claire stepped back from shock, she slowly knelt back down placing her hand back on her, as the Stegosaurus closed her eyes for the last time, breathing one last breath. A tear rolled down Claire's face as she looked over to Owen, who stared at the now deceased Stegosaurus.
He sits back before looking over the field, standing up, looking out at the other dying Stegosaurus'. He walked forwards slowly, Claire trailed behind him. She brought her hands to her face in shock.
"It didn't eat them. It's killing for sport," Owen realizes.

A jeep rolls off the travel pod on the beach, driving over the sand. A crew of men had already started setting up computers and other machinery as a man followed behind Hoskins. The beach was covered in tanks, jeeps, computers, weapons, other gear, and men.
"Units on standby, ready for go."
"Good. Hold off on that live feed. We've got an evolving situation here," Hoskins told him as they continued to walk up the sand.
"Did they give you the green light yet?"
"They will." He grabbed a headset from one of the men and stood in front of a laptop. Looking at it.
Barry watched from further away, using binoculars to see what was happening down at the beach. He lifted a walkie talkie and begins to speak, "Owen, we have a situation here." The walkie talkie only admitted a strange frequency. Barry shook his head in annoyance and worry, knowing that Owen didn't receive the message.

Owen drove along part of the jungle, spotting the broken gyrosphere.
"Hey, there. I'm Jimmy Fallon. Welcome aboard the Gyrosphere, an amazing machine made possible by science. Hey, there. Your safety is our main concern. Now just relax and enjoy the ride."
The gyrosphere sent off sparks as they parked the jeep, getting out to hear the gyrosphere play a loop of Jimmy Fallon until it started to glitch and stop. Owen put the strap of the gun back over his shoulder and he looked at one of the large, sharp teeth that had been stuck in the frame work. He cut it out and held it up.
Claire breathes heavily as she looked around for any sign of them. She saw Zach's smashed phone on the ground. She knelt down slowly, picking up the phone, almost cradling it in her hands. "No, no, no."
"Hey." She looked back at Owen. "They made it out." Owen pointed to the set of three shoe imprints heading away from the gyrosphere. Claire let out a relieved sigh. Owen began following the footsteps, Claire right behind him, determined to find the three kids.
At the waterfall they looked over the edge to the empty water.
"Oh my God, they jumped," Claire spoke up.
"Brave kids." He put his gun back over his shoulder.
"Zach!" Owen looked back at her. "Gray!" Owen shushed her. "Hey, I am not one of your damn animals!" She spat back at him, clearly annoyed and on edge.
"Listen, those kids are still alive, but you and I will not be if you continue to scream like that." He pointed a finger at her whispering harshly.
"So...You can pick up their scent, can't you? Track their footprints?" She whispered back.
"I was with the Navy, not the Navajo."
"So then what should we do? What do you suggest we do?"
"You get back. I'll find them."
"No...We'll find them."
"You'll last two minutes in there. Less, in those ridiculous shoes." Claire unbuckled her belt, opened her shirt, tying the front together, rolled up her sleeves and put her hands on her hips. Owen stared at her, blinking.
"What is that supposed to mean?"
"It means I'm ready to go."
"Okay. Let's get one thing straight. I'm in charge out here. You do everything I say, exactly as I say it."
"Excuse you?"
"Just relax. It's just like taking a stroll through the woods. 65 million years ago." Owen took his gun off his shoulder, motioning for Claire to go on ahead. Owen looked down to the ground seeing a large imprint from the Indominous Rex before following Claire.
