Epilogue
Epilogue
1,000 years later
It was the middle of summer, and the sun shined through the glass of the classroom full of eleven year olds. Their middle aged teacher was standing in front of them, telling them all about the people who shaped the world they lived in. The children listened intently as the learnt about a world they couldn't even imagine.
"And when the world collapsed, around 100 people were left in Britain to help rebuild the world that had been destroyed," the teacher paused when she saw an inquisitive young boy stick up his hand.
"How come we call them the 99 survivors?" The boy asked quietly and the teacher nodded at his question.
"One of the first survivors, who was saved by the government and later joined the Mole organisation which you all know about, did not survive as long as the others. Many forget about her," the teacher smiled sadly as she thought of the complex tale of woe that led to Dara's demise.
"How come she didn't survive as long? Did the mutants get her?" The boy asked and all his teacher simply shook her head, which confused the boy, "How did she die then?"
"She died of a broken heart, she had lost too much to bear the weight of the pain on her shoulders," the teacher mumbled sadly, knowing that the only thing left of Dara were the words she wrote. Her only legacy was the religion she had concocted. She would never be remembered for the person she was.
