Later that day
"I think we need to get far away from this place, the concentration of mutants is too high and we can't put ourselves in danger," Azul had gathered us all around again, I was still shaking slightly from the previous experience and I held Niall's hand tightly.
"How can we get out of here if they are everywhere?" Coby asked, challenging Azul as he always did; the pair seemed to have a love/hate relationship with each other.
"As you all know, I've been here before and I have been studying these mutant things for a while. At precisely 11pm every night they go away to sleep-" Azul was cut off by Gary who spoke for the first time in what seemed like years.
"How come they attacked our base then Azul? That was at night wasn't it, so they weren't sleeping!" Azul rolled her eyes at him and coughed slightly, ignoring his comment.
"They were provoked, that is why they didn't sleep. They knew we were in the base, they are quite clever creatures really. I say we leave at eleven tonight, I will go alone if I have to. So who is with me?" although the idea scared me, Azul was the only one who knew anything about the mutants. Much to everyone's surprise I raised my hand first, and Azul smiled at me. A genuine smile. Maybe she wasn't too bad after all.
Soon everyone raised there hands and Azul clapped, obviously glad that everyone was following her orders; she loved being in control, having us minions doing whatever she asked us to do.

The clock on the wall ticked by, the battery hadn't died yet, and I began to feel sick the closer the small hand got to eleven. What if Azul was wrong? What if we did get attacked by mutants and all suffer a gory death?
"Time," someone shouted and we all stood up abruptly, making our way to the front of the building where the glass door had been smashed down. Outside was a wasteland- a barren, unforgiving world that would not treat us well.
Azul took the first step outside, looking around before signalling that the coast was clear. Slowly we all followed her as we made our way to the outside world, we no longer had the base to run back to. We had no home to sleep in, no reliable source of food or water. We were officially screwed.
An eery silence filled the air as we walked forward, not even our footsteps made a noise on the dry ground. The stale air was cold and a harsh wind pushed past us, making my cheeks turn a red colour and making my eyes water. I was waiting every second for a mutant to spring up, but it never did.
The city was empty, not even an animal to be seen. I was about to speak to Niall who was standing next to me, in an attempt to get rid of the creepy quiet that was hung over us, but before I could speak, a bag was placed over my head and the world around me turned to darkness...
***
When I woke up, I immediately saw the change in scenery; we were all in a dark room with one lightbulb hanging from the ceiling, it was swinging ever so slightly which meant the light was reflected onto the walls in a strange way. I tried to move my hands but they were bound behind my back by a strong rope that rubbed against my skin painfully.
"Guys what happened?" Ellie whispered, she was sat in the corner of the room which a petrified look on her face.
"I think we just got kidnapped," I replied back, seeing as everyone else was in so much shock that they couldn't speak.
"By who? We're all alone, they only people out there are the mutants and they can barely speak let alone kidnap twelve people," Maz's voice was getting louder and louder with every word he said, anger taking him over, "And if it was the mutants, they would have eaten us by now."
"I guess we're not as alone as we thought," someone muttered from the back of the room and my head turned to the corner of the room where Madeline was sat, staring blankly at the wall. For a girl who never spoke, she sure had an ominous presence.
"Thanks Madeline, real groundbreaking information you got there," Azul replied sarcastically and I didn't even have the energy to roll my eyes at the bossy girl, all I wanted to do was go to sleep and pretend like nothing had happened. Somehow, in the past two days our life had been flipped upside down and not in a good way.
Where had our kidnappers taken us? Who had kidnapped us? More importantly, why had they kidnapped us? All these questions raced round my head but they were silenced with one noise.
The sound of a door creaking open.
So there are other people on earth? Or did the mutants take them? Where are they and what do their kidnappers want with them? You'll have to wait to find out!
On another subject, I know this is relatively early on in the story but who would want to read a sequel? Anyone? Please comment whether you think I should make a sequel or just leave this as a one off book. Thanks x
