"So I have woken you all up because two," Azul pointed her finger at Niall and I who were suppressing our laughter, "very stupid people decided to smash open a door in the middle of the night."

"I think you exaggerating, we broke a tiny hole in it," I interjected and Azul glared at me with her soul- sucking eyes, I could feel the anger radiating off her. All the others sat in a dazed state, looking extremely tired and like they didn't want to be there.

"What was behind it?" Jack asked in his usual nosey manner and I rolled my eyes at him, within my weeks in the house he had annoyed me to the point where I was considering suffocating him in his sleep.

"It was the outside world," Niall whispered and I saw the everyone's eyes widen slightly with his words, even Azul looked taken aback.

"Like the real world?" Ellie asked cautiously, her stutter was slightly present; it was one thing I had learnt about the girl that surprised me, despite loving public speaking and debating (hence why she was working in the law side of the new humanity) she had a slight stutter. It didn't stop her from doing anything but it meant that certain words were difficult for her to say.

"Yes, the one that was destroyed. The one we all lived in. Behind that door is the world which we will have to rebuild!" I stood up and began shouting, feeling passion course through my veins; seeing the destruction had woken something up inside of me. Despite my previous hesitant attitude, I wanted to save the world from becoming a desolate wasteland.

"ENOUGH!" Azul screamed and everyone turned to her with confused faces, "Stop with this madness! Dara sit down."

Slowly I walked back over to my chair and sat next to Niall who had a blank expression on his face, I couldn't tell what he was thinking. When I was directing my focus on Azul, I felt his hand squeeze my knee slightly and I smiled at the small gesture.

"We cannot, I repeat cannot, go outside until we are fully equipped! Maz needs to make us some weapons for self defense," Azul was waving her hands around as she spoke, being her usual bossy self but for the first time, not everyone was just swallowing her words and taking them as fact.

"Why would we need self defense if nothing is out there?" Coby asked and Azul suddenly began to squirm in her chair, the whole atmosphere of the room changed, "What do you know Azul?"

"Nothing! I know nothing! But what if there is something out there, we have nothing to protect ourselves from them. Plus we are still settling in here, give it a bit more time before it's necessary to venture outside," it was the first time I had seen the bossy girl look like she was lost for words, there was something in her eye which I recognized. It was fear. But what did she have to be afraid about?

When silence covered the room, people began to leave and I saw Azul take a breath of relief- her strange mood was worrying me. What did Azul know?

"Coby can you fix the door?" I asked as the man walked past me and all he did was nod before holding Indigo by the waist and taking her back to their bedroom. The pair claimed that their relationship was just platonic but everyone knew that they secretly liked each other; nobody wanted to engage in a romantic relationship because after nine months everyone would switch partners again. There was just no point.

When the room had cleared, and it was just Azul and I left, I walked over to the beauty who was fiddling with her fingers while looking down at the floor.

"I don't know what you're hiding but I'll find out somehow," I whispered before walking away, not wanting to hear her reply. I knew something was up with Azul, I just didn't know what it was.

Niall was staring up at the ceiling when I entered the room and he had a pensive look on his face; slowly creeping under the covers I nestled my head into the crook of his neck and hugged him gently.

"What do you think was wrong with the boss?" I asked him jokingly and he chuckled, I could feel his chest vibrating under my arms.

"She always has something wrong with her," he replied before shutting his eyes slowly, indicating that he wanted to sleep. Pulling away from him, I curled up into the foetal position and tried to shut my eyelids and let sleep take me. But it never did.

I lay awake while Niall softly snored, thinking about the discovery we had made. Reminders of the past crept up on me and suffocated me like a thick smoke. I knew I could never forget what happened to the world, but at some point I would have to move on.

Short one again, I'm sorry! Time has not been on my side recently. So Azul was acting weird in this chapter, what does she know?! Oooh we'll have to wait and see :)

So I've realised that with 12 characters, knowing who everyone is can be difficult- especially when most of the characters aren't even mentioned in most scenes. So I've made some short character profiles for each person just to help you remember who each character is.

Dara aka The Narrator

Dara is extremely talented in writing, hence why she was chosen. She can be very skeptical and finds it difficult to trust people very quickly. Her mind is always whirring and she is also curious and looking for an adventure.

Niall aka Niall (as in the one from One Direction)

Niall is talented at: singing, playing instruments and writing songs. He is easygoing and fun loving however when the time comes he can also be serious. It is difficult to read his emotions sometimes as he keeps them hidden (mostly).

Coby aka Muscle Man

Coby is the builder in the house, a young man with muscles bulging out from everywhere. He is a strong character and won't take lies or bullshit from anyone.

Indigo aka The Brainbox

Indigo was a child prodigy for science and still remains as intelligent as ever. She is very shy and doesn't like to speak too much, she finds interactions hard. She is extremely clever however she is very humble; she is almost like mother figure because she is so caring and kind.

Madeline aka The Chef

Madeline is an amazing chef but finds it difficult to socialise and make friends. She is extremely quiet and enjoys her own company.

Jack aka The Pretentious Jock

Jack is talented at sport but he is not humble about his success. He is annoying, arrogant and believes he is better than everyone. In his mind, he is a strong leader although this is not necessarily the case.

Ellie aka The Lawyer

Ellie is talented in law and business, she is extremely smart and can think on her feet. She loves public speaking and debating and can stand her ground if she is challenged. She is usually quiet but this is because she is listening into people's conversations for information.

Maz aka The Genius With A Computer

Maz is a tech wiz who can be quiet but also extremely loud! He finds machines more interesting than humans and likes to be alone sometimes, lost in his own thoughts.

Azul aka The Bossy Bitch

Azul is extremely talented in fashion, she's amazing at designing clothes and making them. And she's also a bit of a bitch. She's rude, arrogant, bossy and believes she is the best person in the world. She is a true born leader however she is a terrible liar.

Zara aka The Hyperactive One

Zara has very strong opinions and has been saved to make new 'social customs' (e.g. abolishing things like racism, homophobia etc). She gets excited easily and finds it easy to make friends. She is loving and caring and will always follow directions.

Gary aka The Love Doctor

Gary is great at relationships, he understands them and he will act almost like a marriage counselor between the partners. Gary is charming but also slightly dull, he keeps to himself but loves to be a lad and get drunk.

Adam aka The Teacher

Adam is great at teaching and dealing with kids in general. He is cheeky and childish, extremely laid back and carefree. He has a tendency to purposefully annoy people for his own enjoyment.
