CHAPTER ONE, reuniting with old friends in an odd way

The Gladers have always hoped that they would escape the maze, but they never actually thought they would. The Gladers escaped the maze, and a lot has happened since then. Even though Celia made it look like she was dead, she actually is alive. She is a part of the Right Arm and has been ever since they saved her from WICKED. Gally found out that she was taken by WICKED and was determined to save her from them. So with the Right Arm's help he did exactly that. He saved her and she couldn't be more grateful for what he did.

Now the two are in a relationship that's stronger than ever. It took them awhile to realize they had feelings for each other and then it took them even longer to admit it to each other. But they always say it was worth the wait now that they're together.

Currently, she, Gally, and a few other Right Arm members are at the Last City, outside of the walls that blocked them from WICKED. People were rallying in protests to be let into the city, and she, Gally, and a few members from the Right Arm that are with them were a part of that.

She and Gally wore gas masks that covered their faces just like the other members, holding guns as well while they sat on top of a car. Two Right Arm members sat on top of the car along with them while two other members were inside the car. One of the members sitting on top of the car, named Jasper, was speaking into a speaker, and he was the only one on top of the car who didn't wear a mask.

"We are the voice of the voiceless!" He yells. "They hide behind their walls, thinking they can keep the cure for themselves while they watch the rest of us wither and rot!"

As they drive down the road, Celia looks at a group of people nearby, furrowing her eyebrows when she saw most of the boys look familiar. One boy who stood in front of the group with brown hair and hazel eyes stared back at her and Gally. Then her eyes widen in realization, a small gasp leaving her lips.

**FLASHBACK**

Celia was the only girl in the Glade that was full of boys. Why was that? She wanted to know the answer as well but she never got one. Living in the Glade was all she could ever remember. She couldn't remember her life outside of the Glade which sucked but there was nothing she could do about that.

She was standing at the edge of the Box, standing between Minho and Newt. As the Box came to a stop, two boys jumped down to open the door. A brunette-haired boy stood inside, disoriented and confused. He had his hand hovered over his eyes to block the brightness of the sun as he squinted. Once he was out of the Box and on the grass, he broke off into a sprint, heading for the directions of the door to the maze. Then he suddenly tripped and fell, earning some laughter from some of the other boys.

"Hey, we got a runner!" Zart teased, laughing along with his friends.

Celia rolls her eyes, shaking her head. She looks at the boys who were laughing with a glare. "All you shanks, knock it off!" She demanded, smiling in victory when they stopped laughing. The brunette-haired boy had to admit he was thankful for Celia to make them stop laughing because they made him feel even more embarrassed about his fall. He scrambled to his feet, breathing heavily as he did a 360 spin, staring at the maze surrounding the place with mixture of fear and confusion.

Soon the boy was thrown into the pit to make sure he wouldn't run off again. Then Alby, the first in command, the boy who was in charge of the Glade, got him out and explained everything to him as he showed the Greenie around the Glade. Celia was working in the garden when Alby called her over.

Celia smiles brightly at Alby, doing a handshake with him. "Hey, Alby." He nods at her and smiles back at her. She then gives Thomas a friendly smile. "And Greenie." The boy stares at her with surprise upon seeing her. "Yeah," She chuckles. "That's usually the look every Greenie has when they see me in a place with a bunch of boys."

"Wait, I thought there were only boys here." The brunette-haired boy said with confusion.

"Celia is the only girl here." Alby tells him. He chuckles. "None of us are sure why, but we're glad she's here." He gives the Greenie a warning look. "Listen, she may be sweet, but she's one of the fiercest Gladers here. Just.. Don't get on her bad side. She's someone you don't wanna mess with."

The brunette-haired boy glanced at him with a slightly scared look, glancing over at Celia nervously, but Celia gave him a friendly smile and he wondered if what Alby said is true. So far she seemed to be like a sweetheart. Although Alby did say she's not always like that so he made a mental note not to get on her bad side.

"But you could say she's like the mother of the glade." Alby adds. "Comforting us when we're scared. Cheering us up when we're sad." He gives Celia a teasing smile. "And scolding us when we do something wrong."

Celia shrugs with a sheepish smile. "I can't help it."

Alby chuckles lightly and shakes his head. "You mind finishing the tour? I have to take care of some things for tonight." Alby explained.

With a nod, Celia smiles reassuringly at him. "Sure thing, Albs."

"Tonight?" The brunette-haired boy asks, glancing between the two teens with confusion. "What's-What's tonight?"

Alby chuckles. "Just a warning, Lia, this boy asks a lot of questions."

"I can handle that." Celia nods with a chuckle. She waves goodbye to Alby before turning to face the brunette-haired boy with a bright smile. "Okay, come on, Greenie. I wanna show you my favorite place here."

The brunette-haired boy glances at her curiously and follows her over to a watch tower. "Why is this your favorite place here?"

"Well, here you can see the whole Glade. It's pretty cool." Celia smiles. She stops by the latter, glancing at him with raised eyebrows. "I probably should've asked this before I brought you over here, but are you afraid of heights? Can you remember if you were?"

"No, I don't know." The brunette-haired boy shook his head.

"Okay, then let's just hope you won't get scared when we go up here." Celia suggests. She give him a reassuring smile that helps made his nerves fade. "Don't worry, I'm sure you'll be fine."

She climbed up the latter and he followed her, taking a seat beside her after seeing her sitting down near the railing. Celia had her arms rested on the bottom railing, her feet dangling off the edge. Celia then explained to Thomas everything in the Glade. She talked about the three rules they had which everyone had to follow. The first was do your part, second was never harm another Glader, and the third was never go beyond the walls. Celia really hoped the Greenie would listen to the last one since it seemed like he was curious about it.

Towards when she was done explaining everything about the Glade, she looked down at the Glade with a fond smile, waving at some of the Gladers who were walking by, grinning when they waved back at her. The brunette-haired boy couldn't help but feel relaxed and calm by Celia. She just had that sort of presence. He noticed that she seemed to be friendly and everyone seemed to like her. He had a feeling that she would be a great friend and someone he could count on.

**END OF FLASHBACK**

Celia slapped Gally's arm to get his attention, smiling a bit since she was excited to see her old friend.

"Why'd you slap me?" Gally questioned, looking over at her furrowed eyebrows despite the fact she couldn't see him because of the gas mask he wore.

Celia shrugs. "To get your attention."

Gally chuckles. "Could've just said my name."

"That's a boring way to get your attention, though." Celia whines, earning another chuckle from Gally. "But Gally, I think that boy we both looked at was Thomas."

"But there are more of us than there are of them." Jasper continues while the crowd cheers. "And I say, we rise up and take back what is ours! Let's bring back a victory!"

Gally looks at her with surprise and looks back at where the familiar group was at. He nodded, noticing that the boy was still looking at him and Celia with a suspicious expression on his face. "Yeah, I think you're right."

Celia's eyes widened in realization, and she felt hope building up. "Wait, if he's here, that means that the others must be here too."

Gally nods. "Yeah, I think I saw Newt and Frypan with him."

Celia smiles under her mask, but then she glances at the group with curiosity, tilting her head to the side. "I wonder why Minho wasn't with them."

"No idea." Gally shook his head and leaned over to the other Right Arm member and said something to him that Celia couldn't hear.

Celia sighs heavily, figuring out what they were going to do. "We're gonna kidnap them to find out what's going on, aren't we?"

"Exactly." Gally nodded.

Knowing there was no other way to do this and no other way she could convince Gally not to do this, Celia just went along with it. She shrugs. "Alright, but we better not hurt them."

"I promise we won't." Gally reassured her.

When the car is parked, she, Gally, and the other two members that were on top of the car go out into the crowd to search for the group. They knew the group would stick together in a place like this, so all they had to do was trap them to be able to get them. She and Gally were walking behind the group while the other two members walked on the side by them. Newt was the first one who noticed them and then was on high alert, especially when he noticed someone else with a gas mask who had a gun. He walked quickly to catch up with Thomas, informing them that they were being followed.

They all turn around to see the gas masked people closing in on them. Jorge pulled out his gun, but then suddenly an alarm blared, getting everyone's attention. The yelling crowd is silent, their attention fixed on the walls outside of the city. Guards man the top of the wall as large artillery guns rise up. The guns aimed at the crowd and screamed filled the air once more, but this time the screams were full of fear as the crowd started to run.

With a wave of his hand, Gally ushers for Celia and the men with them to quickly head out. "Let's go! Let's go!" Grabbing ahold of Celia's hand, they both quickly run towards where the van was set up. Explosions happen behind them as screams get louder, but Celia doesn't dare to look back.

Thomas and his friends were quick to join the fleeing crowd as explosions erupt around them. Frypan led the group to an abandoned building he saw and they all ran through an alleyway to get inside. But then suddenly the group were ambushed. The group were all separated, being pushed into vans by gas masked people against their will.

As the two vans arrived to their destination, two men opened a corrugated metal gate for the vans to go through and enter a parking garage. Once both vans were parked, the back doors were open. The van that had Thomas and Brenda it arrived to the parking garage first so they were already standing by the time the second van pulled up. Suddenly a masked man was thrown out of the van, followed by Jorge jumping on him and throwing a punch to his face.

Celia jumped out of the van next and Gally stood by her, quietly whispering to her, "You good?" He asked that since he didn't expect for one of the guys with Thomas and the others to be so violent and he hoped Celia didn't get hurt.

Celia nods, her heart fluttering because of the fact despite of a chaotic situation he still wanted to make sure she was okay. "I'm good." She turned her attention back to the others as Brenda started calling out to Jorge, reassuring him she was there.

Thomas and the others rush forward to pull Jorge off the guy, but masked men aim their guns at them, pulling them away. They backed up immediately, raising their hands in defense. Gally stepped forward, pointing at the men that aimed their guns at Thomas and the others, signaling for them to not shoot.

"I'm right here! I'm right here!" Brenda shouted reassuringly and Jorge finally stopped hitting the man beneath him, glancing over at her when he heard her voice. Relief washed over his face and he stood, pulling her into a hug.

"Everybody relax." Gally calls out, walking forward as he looks at everyone. "We're all on the same side here."

Thomas pushes back the man who was keeping him away from the others and walks over to Gally with a glare. "Yeah, what do you mean on the same side? Who the h**l are you?" He demanded.

Gally takes his gas mask off, revealing himself to Thomas and the others. "Hey, Greenie."

With wide eyes, Thomas steps towards him. "Gally?"

"I'm here too." Celia speaks up, taking off her mask. She smiles slightly at Thomas, Frypan, and Newt, who stare at her with shock. "Hey, guys. I missed you all."

Newt exchange a glance with Frypan, both of them in disbelief that Celia and Gally were alive and well, standing right in front of them. Thomas couldn't believe what he was seeing either. Of course he was relieved and happy to see Celia, but Gally on the other hand...Thomas punched Gally directly in the face, knocking him to the ground. He climbed on top of him and continued to punch Gally with hatred in his eyes.

"Thomas, stop!" Celia worriedly said, but her words fall on deaf ears. Then she noticed Newt rush forward towards Thomas to stop him and she just hoped Thomas would listen to him.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" Gally apologized, his hands raised in defense.

"Woah, woah, woah." Newt kneels beside Thomas, grabbing his arm that was getting ready to punch Gally again. "Stop, stop."

Thomas glares at Gally. "He killed Chuck."

Newt nods. "Yeah, I know. I remember. I was there too, alright? I also remember that he was stung and out of his mind."

Out of the corner of her eye, Celia saw some of the armed men aim their guns at Thomas and Newt which made her heart quicken. She turns to face them with a stern look, speaking in a demanding tone. "Lower your guns." They all listened, but they were still on high alert.

"Just calm down, alright?" Newt suggested.

Thomas angrily stands and backs away from Gally. Gally gets to his feet, rubbing his jaw as he winces slightly in pain. "Kinda had that coming." He glances at Newt and Frypan. "Anybody else? Fry? Newt?"

"You know this guy?" Jorge questions and then glances over at Celia suspiciously. "And this girl?"

"They're old friends." Frypan replied.

"How?" Newt questions, staring at Celia and Gally with disbelief. "How...How is this possible? I don't...We watched you guys die."

"No, you left us to die." Gally argued.

"I mean, in their defense they thought you were dead and I was taken so..." Celia chimed in, her voice trailing off as she shrugged. She didn't miss the confused looks her friends sent her when she said she was taken and she knew she would have to tell them what happened to her.

Gally sighs and nods, knowing she had a good point. "Okay, true. But if we haven't found you when we did, you'd be dead right now." He tells the group. He shakes his head. "What the h**l are you doing here?"

"Minho." Newt responded.

Celia looks at him worriedly, her heart still beating fast. "What...What happened with him?"

"WICKED has him here." Newt answers. "We're looking for a way in."
