CHAPTER NINE, safe haven
"Where are the others?" She asked curiously, looking in the direction when Gally pointed. She saw Aris, Sonya and Harriet sitting by each other she talking. Frypan, Thomas and Minho were by each other. Relief filled her face at seeing Thomas. She had fell asleep before she knew they had gotten Thomas back and she was worried he had died.
"Thomas is okay." Gally said, seeming to read her mind. "He had gotten shot but he's healing and doing better. He actually woke up a few hours before you did."
"I'm so glad." Celia breathed, her eyes shining with relief and happiness. She was so relieved, she had been so worried about Thomas. But he was okay, and that was all that mattered. She gently tugged him to that direction, wanting to see her friends. When they reached the others, Thomas noticed them first. He perked up at seeing her awake and okay. He immediately stood, ignoring the slight wince on his face. He was clearly still recovering, but he didn't seem to care.
"You're awake!" He exclaims, his eyes filling with relief and happiness. He moved to pull her into a hug carefully. "They told me you got hurt, are you okay?"
Celia hugs him back, nodding. "I'm okay, just sore. But I'll be okay. Just got a shoulder wound." She pulls back, a small smile on her face. "You're okay though, right? Did you really get shot?"
Thomas nods, a grim expression on his face. "Yeah, but I'm okay. It'll heal."
"That's good." Celia smiles, her tone filled with relief. She was glad he was okay, that they were both okay. She was so relieved, she felt like a huge weight had been lifted off her shoulders. She moves to hug Minho and Frypan next as Gally and Thomas did a bro hug. "Where's Newt? He's okay, right?"
"Newt's around." Thomas answers, a small smile tugging at his lips. "He's completely fine. Just taking it easy like us." He chuckles. "He's been exploring the place."
"Oh there he is." Minho pointed out and they all looked over to see the blonde sitting by Aris, Sonya and Harriet. He was mostly talking with his sister while Aris and Harriet talked though. Celia was glad he could reunite with his sister and catch up with her.
"I wanted to check on him, but he looks busy." Celia murmured, a small frown tugging at her lips. She really wanted to see him and talk with him, she wanted to make sure he was okay.
"Hey, Newt!" Minho called out, waving him over.
Newt looked up, a look of confusion crossing his features as he looked to see who called him but then smiled back at Minho. He stood, moving towards them. He smiled brightly when he saw her, his eyes filled with happiness and relief.
"Hey, you're finally awake!" He exclaimed, his voice filled with joy and excitement.
She stumbles back from the sudden hug he gave her, wincing slightly when her left shoulder was pushed a little too hard.
"Oops, sorry, Celi." Newt quickly apologizes, stepping back. "I got a little carried away, are you alright?" He asked, his voice filled with concern.
"I'm fine." Celia reassures him, smiling. She was so glad to see him, to see everyone. "How are you, are you alright?"
"I'm good, just a bit sore and exhausted but I'm alright." Newt answered, his tone filled with relief.
"That's good, I was so worried." Celia said, her eyes filled with affection and worry.
"I'm alright, really." Newt smiled, his voice filled with assurance.
She moved to hug him, her arms wrapping around his neck. He hugged her back, his arms gently wrapping around her waist. She felt his breath against her neck, and she could hear his heartbeat. He was alive, and he was safe. She was so relieved, and she felt like a weight had been lifted off her chest.
"Thank you for saving my life, Celi." He murmurs, kissing her shoulder. "Thank you."
Celia hugs him tighter, her eyes filling with tears. She was so glad he was alive, that he was okay. She was so happy, and relieved. It was a miracle, a miracle that they were both alive and safe. She couldn't believe it, she couldn't believe they had survived.
"Of course." She whispered, her voice filled with emotion. "Newtie, you know I'll always do everything I can to protect you."
He chuckles, his voice filled with fondness and warmth. "I know, and I'll do the same, Celi. I owe you my life, and I'll always be grateful to you for it."
"You don't owe me anything." She assures him as they pull away. "I did it because you are so important to me. To all of us."
He smiles, his eyes shining with affection and gratitude. He kisses her forehead, his voice soft and warm. "And you are very important to all of us too."
"Alright, enough mushy stuff." Minho interrupts with a grin. "Let's show Celi around, yeah? She has to see everything!"
"Yeah!" Newt agrees, a wide smile on his face. "Celi, you're gonna love it! It's amazing, just wait and see."
She chuckles, shaking her head fondly. "Okay, okay, let's go. I can't wait to see it."
They all headed off to show her around the place. She stayed by Gally's side, leaning against him as she walked. She was still a bit sore and tired, but she was excited and happy. She was so glad they were finally safe, that they were free.
The place was beautiful, and there was so much to explore. There were beaches, cliffs, forests, and more. It was breathtaking, and it was the perfect place for a fresh start. For a new beginning.
Everyone was working hard to build and create a home. It wasn't perfect, but it was a start. It was their home, and they were determined to make it a good one. They had been through so much, and they deserved a happy ending.
Celia couldn't help the wide grin on her face as she took it all in. They were safe, and they were together. They had each other, and that was all that mattered.
As the days passed, Celia slowly recovered. She spent most of her time helping with building things and creating a home for them. She helped gather resources and she helped cook meals. She worked hard, and she was happy. She was glad she could help, and she was glad she could contribute to the community.
She currently was in her hut and was cuddling with Gally. It had become their favorite pastime now that they were safe and not on the run or fighting WICKED. They loved being in each other's arms, just holding each other and relaxing.
She was lying on her right side and her head was resting on Gally's chest. He was on his back, his arm wrapped around her waist. His other hand was gently running through her hair, his fingers lightly massaging her scalp. She leaned into his touch, a small smile on her face. He was so warm and comfortable, and she never wanted to leave his embrace.
"How are you feeling?" He asked softly, his voice filled with concern and affection. He glanced at her shoulder, which had a bandage wrapped around it. It had been healing nicely, and she was getting better every day. She still had to take it easy, but she was on the road to recovery.
"I'm fine, my shoulder is sore but it's not too bad." She said, her voice filled with reassurance. "I'm healing, don't worry."
"I'll always worry." He murmurs, kissing her head. "You're important to me, you know that."
"I know." She chuckles, nuzzling his neck. "I feel the same, I'll always worry about you too."
He holds her closer, his grip on her tightening. "I love you, Celia."
She closes her eyes, her heart fluttering. "I love you too, Gally."
They were safe, and they were together. It was all that mattered. They had been through so much, and now it was time for them to rest. To enjoy their new home and to be happy. It was a fresh start, a new beginning. And they were determined to make the most of it.
