Surviving The Games (Chapter 10)~The Second Round

Aphmau's POV

The arena disappears from my sight as we start walking thru the cement hallways. The lights flash as sirens wail. We watch the arena crumble in the small windows that we were completely blinded to.

"Guys, stop admiring the falling arena and lets go!" I command.

Everyone looks at me, then we bolt off trying to find our way out of here. Eventually, we run into Kiki and Brendan.

"Kiki! Brendan!" I exclaim.

I hug them both, I'm so glad they're alive, "Aphmau..!" They both say in sync.

"Do you guys know where Aaron is?" I ask.

They shake their head no. We then continue to run once Katelyn snaps at us for stalling, "This is like the Hunger Games all over again." I hear Laurance mumble through out the crowd.

I ignore his comment and continue my search. I then find a door, "Guys, over here." I mumble. I cautiously open the door to see a stairwell inside.

We all rush up it, then I open the door at the top. Sunlight beams on my face as I hesitantly walk inside.

"Welcome to the second round of the Hunger Games! Surprised you all made it!" Someone says with their arms wide open, like he was welcoming us into a big bear hug.

"WHAT?" Everyone says in sync. The man continues smiling.

Aaron's POV

I panic once Aphmau and her alliance sees me. I blend into the wall to get away. When in doubt, always use blending magicks... I followed her alliance, but they just didn't know it. I followed shortly behind, also climbing the stairwell with them. When Aphmau opens the door, a ray of sunshine falls onto her face. She looks relieved, but then horrified when she hears a voice. I can't make out what he said, but if it scares Aphmau, then it's probably bad.

"Second round... Hunger Games. Surprised you all..." His voice echoes through the stairwell, allowing me to hear selected pieces of his sentence.

That was all I needed to hear, "WHAT?" Everyone screams in sync.

I would've yelled too, but that would blow my cover. The same horrified expression paints onto my face, but then again, nobody could see it. An invisible tear falls from my eyes. I should just escape. I should just leave. But I can't! I can't leave Aphmau and the others, they'll die...! Ugh... I float over everyone. Since I'm invisible, I can fly. I scope out the room, inspecting every inch of it. It's another training center? What?

"You're the first group to reach it here since the 12th Hunger Games. This now being the 79th, it's very impressive. It's been 67 years since anybody has discovered this place. And nobody will ever know you've been here. Unless, the victor tells somebody. But that won't happen, we'll make sure of it." An evil grin appears on the man's face.

"The thing about this is... No magicks or smuggled weapons are allowed. Not even Shadow Knight forms... Laurance... Zenix... GARROTH." The man says.

"But I'm not even a Shadow Knight!" Garroth complains.

"You know... That evil form you go into! Yea, that." The man replies.

"How do you know our names?" Laurance asks.

"And we can't ALWAYS control our transformations." Zenix adds.

"I've been watching you guys ever since you entered the stage during the Reaping. I know everything about you." The man replies.

"What's your name?" Aphmau asks.

"Oh, dear... You'll find out in time." The man answers, "And I know you can't control your transformations. That's why you're here! To control them." The man spreads his arms out, motioning to everything.

"What happens if we form into our magical forms?" Lucinda questions.

"You'll be blown up on sight." The man growls, his smile completely disappearing and being replaced with a demented and mischievous grin.

Chills are sent down my spine at his tone and look. I ignore those feelings and creep over to a weapon. I creep over to the man and raise the spear I found. I'm about to stab him in the back, when he throws me back with a gravitational force. I become visible again.

"I could see you the entire time, boy! Spears don't fly on their own." The man chuckles.

"B-But.. You don't have eyes in the back of your head!" I snap.

"I do. You just can't see them." The man smirks.

All the security cameras point to me, a red light beeping in each of them, "You can see through the cameras..." I mumble.

"Correct! And my normal eyes, of course." The man adds. I growl under my breath, "I could also see you when you're invisible. You're like a ghost to me. A visible one, at least." The man smirks.

The cameras retreat to their normal positions, leaving sight of me. The spear that was once in my hand is now scattered across the floor, a few feet away from me. I would blend away with magicks, but he would be able to see me, so that's no use. I feel a pair of eyes on me, so I look in the direction of Aphmau's alliance.

Dante and I lock eyes. He has a fearful look lingering in them. I nod to him, trying to assure him that everything's going to be ok. But honestly, I'm not sure if everything's going to be ok...

"Aww! That's too cute! Trying to assure someone that everything's going to be ok." The man gushes, turning back around in my direction. Anger bubbles from the bottom of my stomach. "WHAT DO YOU WANT WITH US?" I growl, the anger threatening to come out even more than it already is.

"All but one of you dead, of course! Some were killed in the first round, but not everybody. That's why we have the second round." The man informs.

"Here, let me show you something." He smirks, then waves his hand. My vision goes blurry until it's a straight black. The black fills in with color. It's District Eight...

I look around and try to get people's attention, but they walk straight thru me. Or, I go straight thru them? I look up at the big screens where you could usually see the games. The screens are a dead black with a slight screeching noise.

Peacekeepers are ushering everyone away from the District Eight City Hall. People are being rushed back into their houses. I see Lily, my sister and my brother Jackson being taken into our house. Tears brim in my eyes as I see them. I've missed them so much. I follow them into the house and see the TVs screeching as well (Or hear?).

My vision then looks like water as it blurs, taking me away from the images of District Eight. Once the district completely disappears, my vision regains and I'm back in the training room that I was in before. The second round of the Hunger Games training room. Not the first round, but the second. Hopefully I don't die in this round either...
