Tearful Farewells (Districts 7 to 12)

District 7

The door clicked softly as Master Splinter pushed it open. Destiny and Leonardo looked his way, and the old rat mutant smiled sadly.

"My children," he addressed them, giving them both a hug.

"Hello, father," Leonardo replied, a sorrowful look on his face.

The two friends were the only family that Master Splinter had left, and they were about to leave him because of the stupid Games that were supposed to amuse the Capitol.

"I don't want to go, father..." Destiny murmured.

"Yes...I understand. Let us go, then," their Sensei sighed, leading Leonardo and Destiny to where the train was waiting for them.

District 8

Kat heard the angry yowls and shouts of her sister as she demanded the Peacekeeper to let her in. Once she was given permission, she barged straight into the room.

"Kat!" she exclaimed, "Why the freaking furballs did you volunteer for me, you fleabrain?!" she screamed. "You shouldn't have, and you're going to get yourself killed!"

"But aren't we all..." Kat muttered, looking up at her. "I'm your sister, and there's no way that I am going to see you die and not do anything about it," she argued firmly. "It's better me dead than you anyways."

Nira gritted her teeth. "You stupid, stubborn little nut!" she cursed, stomping her foot.

Merly, Kat's adoptive father, hobbled into the room. He embraced Kat, giving her a nod and a sad smile.

"I had to. I couldn't bear to see you die, I just couldn't," Kat mumbled quietly.

Nira threw her arms around the tribute, giving her a tight hug. "Thank you," she whispered. "Stay safe." Her clear blue eyes locked with Kat's brown ones.

"Nira, take care of Merly," Kat said. "I guess this is goodbye." She gave her sister a sad smile.

With that, Nira gave her a nod, and returned the gesture. "Goodbye, Kat. Take care," she replied, her voice barely a whisper, but loud enough so Kat could hear her.

Kitty emerged from her spot beside the chair, shifting back to her more human-like form.

Her sister Kate, and her father, Frank, had left the room after saying their goodbyes as well.

She sighed. "I hate this."

Kat glanced at her. "Yeah. I agree. I hate it too."

District 9

Chase wrapped his arms around his younger sister.

"Please don't leave, Chase," she pleaded, tears leaking from her eyes.

"I'm sorry." Chase looked down. "I have to. Take care of yourself, okay?"

The mutant field mouse sighed, looking down. After a while, she responded. "Okay." She wiped her eyes.

"Goodbye," Chase said, stroking his hand over her head, before getting up and heading over to the train.

His sister weeped sadly as a tear rolled down her cheek, and watched him go.

Meanwhile, Sythia looked up as she heard someone come in the door. It was her father, who was very distant with her.

"What do you want?" she demanded.

Her father flinched at her cold attitude. "I just wanted to wish you good luck on the Games," he replied softly.

Sythia nodded.

"Goodbye, then, I guess," her father said, stepping out and closing the door behind him.

District 10

The Peacekeepers held a cat made out of ice cream, handing her to the orange masked mutant turtle.

Sky Morningstar watched as he ran a hand over her head.

"Ice Cream Kitty... Don't be sad. Please? Stay happy for Mikey," he pleaded.

Ice Cream Kitty meowed in response, and the two mutants seemed to converse back and forth.

Michelangelo pecked the cat's forehead before setting her carefully in the Peacekeepers hands. The ice cream cat let out a long "meow" of grief before the men in the white suits took her outside.

The turtle slumped down to the ground, his face buried in his arms. "I'm already wondering how she's doing already..." he mumbled.

"She really loves you," Sky murmured, before turning away and looking out the window.

District 11

Wesley and Caravina sat together in a room quietly, not saying a word.

Suddenly, the door burst open, and Wesley's parents ran in. Caravina's adoptive mother, Rosanna, came in a few moments later.

"Oh, Wesley! My poor, poor, son!" cried Sylvia, Wesley's mother.

"I can't believe you tried to volunteer for that mutant over there!" his father, Ross, exclaimed.

"We're so worried for you!"

"Oh, honey!"

"I can't believe you were chosen!"

His parents gushed all over him.

Caravina clenched her fists in annoyance. Rosanna noticed this, and she put a hand on the dragon mutant's shoulder.

"Don't listen to them, Caravina. Good luck on the Games. I really do hope that you come home safely, although the chance is slim. I love you," Rosanna said quietly.

"I love you too, Mama," Cara replied, wrapping her arms around her adoptive mother's waist. Rosanna hugged her back and rubbed circles on her back.

The Peacekeepers came into the room, signalling that their parents had to go.

"Goodbye, Mama," Caravina called as Rosanna disappeared through the door.

She looked down at her feet, her dragon wings drooping. The two mutants were silent for a moment.

"Sorry about my parents," Wesley apologized out of the blue.

Caravina nodded in response, and he put his arm over her shoulder.

"It's going to be okay."

District 12

The door creaked open as Alexandria's brother and sister came in.

"Hello, Anna, Hello, James," she greeted weakly. She smiled warmly at them, getting up and giving them hugs.

"I skipped my work in the mines for one day once I heard that you were Reaped," James said. "I'm sorry that I didn't spend enough time with you." He hung his head guiltily.

"It's okay," she replied, kissing his cheek.

Anna hugged her waist. "I know I can't do anything about it, but I really don't want you to go," she stated, wiping her reddened eyes.

Alexandria sighed. "I don't either."

"Good luck, Alex," James said. The mutant bat embraced her again.

Alexandria nodded. Bending down to Anna's height, she kissed the crow mutant's forehead. "Stay strong, Anna."

The Peacekeepers came in the room. "I guess you two have to go now. Goodbye." Her voice was barely a whisper. James wiped the wetness from his eyes and tried to prevent himself from crying, but he ended up shedding a few tears.

Her siblings walked out of the room, looking back. The raccoon mutant waved sadly, sinking to the floor as the door closed.

Alexandria could hear the screams of grief from her District partner.

"Bring me Spike! Please!" Raphael begged and pleaded the Peacekeepers. "He's the only family I have left..."

A Peacekeeper entered the room, carrying a small box turtle.

"Spike!" Raphael gasped, bringing his pet to his chest. Spike chewed gently on his mask tails, nuzzling his little head to the mutant turtle's finger.

"I'll miss you buddy, I'll miss you..." Raph murmured, hugging the box turtle tightly. Spike let out a small and sad turtle noise.

"I love you, Spike," he whispered, tears trickling from his eyes. He held Spike to his plastron, wishing that he never got chosen. Spike snuggled against him, wishing the exact same thing.

Despite that the mutant was usually tough, he felt weak, and his heart was aching.
