Interviews
Everyone gathered together in the backstage. It was time for the interviews to start.
******
"Well, Darkness. It's lovely that you're the first to interview tonight. We don't usually have tributes without a last name. How do you feel about that?"
"I don't have parents," the heterochromic mutant replied. "I had no name. So I named myself Darkness."
"That's an interesting name! Darkness from District 1, everyone!"
******
"Tell me, Alexis, what do you think of the bunch of tributes this year?"
"Well, I think that they're all very nice, although some may be more hostile than others. But they don't deserve to be in the Games. In fact, no one does," she replied boldly.
"That's an interesting point of view. What do you think about the Games, then?" Caesar questioned.
"In my opinion, I think the Games are a horrible type of entertainment."
Gasps were heard from the audience.
"Lovely answer. Everyone, Alexis Queen from District 1!"
******
"How do you feel about your brother back at home? Are you disappointed that he didn't volunteer for you?"
"Well, I miss Shade. I want to be with him and my family back at home...but sadly, I can't."
The crowd made sad noises.
"As for the second question, no, I am not disappointed. I told him not to volunteer for me if I get picked. I don't want him to get hurt here in the Games," the snake mutant replied.
"What a great sister you are! Shadow Dusk from District 2, everyone!"
Shadow flashed a big smile, but inside, she knew that she wouldn't be truly happy.
******
"What's your strategy, Penelope?" Caesar asked.
"You'll just have to wait and see, Caesar. This secret is for me to keep," the lizard mutant said, her eyes flashing slyly.
"Very mysterious, indeed, I like it! Penelope Sharma from District 2!"
******
"Donatello, if you win the Games, what are your future plans?" Caesar inquired.
"I would probably go back to inventing and experimenting," the turtle replied.
"No girlfriend?" the blue-haired man prompted.
Donatello shook his head. "I wasn't really planning for that."
"But when you come home, all the girls would love you!"
"I'm not sure about that yet."
"I'm sure you'll have a great future. Donatello Bolts from District 3, everyone!" he exclaimed.
******
"Lovely dress you have on tonight, Sarina. It really fits you," Caesar commented, studying her.
"Thank you, Caesar," the cyborg replied politely.
"Have you chosen any allies, yet?" the man asked.
"Well, yes. Yes, I have," she replied.
"And who may they be?" he wondered curiously.
"Destiny and Leonardo from District 7, and my district partner, Donatello."
"Why, what a fine group! I'm sure you'll do well. Sarina Subject from District 3, everyone!"
******
"Since you're allied with the rest of the Careers, what do you think of them?" Caesar asked the puffy-haired girl.
"I have to be honest, they're fantastic. They're really nice," Hazel replied.
"They are, aren't they?" he said. "What's it like being picked to be in the Games?"
"Well..." the young girl started. "The food is nice...and well, everything is so different compared to home."
"The Capitol has lovely items, doesn't it? Hazel Lewis from District 4!"
******
"Colten, how is it like being a cyborg? It must be an interesting experience," Caesar remarked.
"Well, basically, your brain is like a computer. I guess you are more intelligent than others... It's hard to explain," Colten admitted.
Caesar nodded. "I get that feeling too. It's quite hard to describe things that are simply amazing. Colten Ridgeway from District 4, everyone!"
******
"You look handsome in that suit, my boy!" Caesar exclaimed. "You've got an excellent evaluation score. Tell me, how well do you think you'll survive in the Games?"
"Thank you Caesar. I think that I'll do pretty well in the Games. In fact, I think I might even win!" Caleb replied.
"I love the confidence right there!" the man declared.
The audience screamed as Caleb smiled.
"Everyone, Caleb Shelton from District 5!"
******
"You're a quiet one, aren't you?" Caesar commented, looking at Ashton.
The avian nodded. "Yes. I'm not really good with crowds, Caesar."
"What do you like best about the Capitol, Ashton?"
"Well, I like the food and the luxury. It's very different compared to home, back at District 5," he answered.
Caesar smiled at him. "Ashton Torrens from District 5!"
******
"Olivia, what a beautiful name!" Caesar exclaimed, beaming.
"Thank you, Caesar," she replied with a shy smile.
"How well do you think you're going to do?" he asked.
"I think I'll be fine," Olivia replied slowly.
"Do you think anyone would sponsor you?"
"Probably not, but there could be a possibility," she said.
"Hope is always with us even in the difficult times," Caesar agreed. "Olivia Norrens from District 6, everyone!"
******
"A dragon mutant! Quite a rare occurance this year, but to our luck, we've got two!" Caesar exclaimed, beaming.
Kayla smiled.
"Comparing the Capitol to District 6, what's different?" he inquired.
"Well, first of all, you guys have fancy hair and clothing," the dragon mutant started, "second, food is more abundant around here, and next, there's a lot more people. I could go on all day, but that would take up our time, wouldn't it?"
"Yes, indeed. I'd certainly love to hear more from you! Kayla Smith from District 6, everyone!" Caesar boomed, his mouth turned up into a grin.
******
"I noticed that your evaluation score was incredibly high! How did you achieve it?" Caesar questioned, genuinely surprised.
"Well, I have a mentor, and he's an awesome mentor. He's trained me for years and years in sword fighting," Leonardo explained.
"Hamato Yoshi?" Caesar asked.
"Yes. He is also my father," the blue-masked turtle added.
"It must be hard for him to see his son going into the Games," Caesar said.
"Yeah...it is," Leonardo replied, his thoughts immediately drifting over to his father.
"And there you have it! Leonardo Hamato from District 7!"
******
"Tell me, Destiny, how well do you think you'll do in the Games?" Caesar asked.
"I think I'll do quite well. I've already allied with a few other tributes, so I should be fine," the wolf-raven answered.
"Do you think they'll betray you?"
"No. If they do, at least I have Leo," she responded.
"That's a good plan you've got going there! Destiny Luna from District 7, everyone!"
******
"You volunteered for your sister?" Caesar said.
"Yes." Kat remained stonefaced.
"I don't think a cute and furry cat like you would belong in the Games," he commented.
The cat mutant almost laughed. "I'm not cute," she snapped. "And I certainly won't be in the arena."
"Feisty! Give her a hand!" Caesar exclaimed. A wave of screaming and applause broke out in the audience, which made her roll her eyes and bite back a sharp retort.
"Kat Kennedy from District 8!"
******
"Kitty! Is it a coincidence that you're a cat mutant?" Caesar inquired.
"I'm not sure, Caesar. What do you think?"
"Either way, I think it's a lovely name. What are your plans for the Games?" he asked.
"Well, I'll try to make alliances," Kitty decided.
"What if you don't get to make any?"
"Don't look on the negative side of things, Caesar. I like to see the cup half full instead of half empty," she said.
"I suppose that's a good strategy. Keeping a positive mindset is great when you're under pressure. Kitty Potter from District 8, everyone!" Caesar exclaimed.
******
"What's your strategy gonna be, Sythia?" Caesar asked the vampire bat mutant.
Sythia didn't reply. The man gave her an encouraging smile.
After a long pause, she spoke up.
"Hmm. I don't know, Caesar, maybe suck the blood out of every living soul?" she responded, baring her fangs.
"Very straight to the point! Now, what's your--"
"Can I go now?" Sythia interrupted, glaring at him.
One look at the mutant, and he knew that he shouldn't be messing with her.
"Er...Sythia Blanchard from District 9!"
******
"What are your strengths?" The man asked.
"Well, I think I can fight well with any weapon," Chase replied.
"That's great!" Caesar exclaimed. "Have you made any alliances yet?"
The ram mutant's head drooped. "Not yet," he replied quietly.
"Aww. But it's good fighting alone, too! Nobody can betray you," he pointed out. "Chase Smith from District 9, everyone!"
******
"What are your thoughts on the Capitol, Michelangelo?"
"I love the food here! But I like the pizza even more! It's so heavenly! Speaking of pizza, I hope people would sponsor me pizza!" the turtle rambled on and on.
Caesar chuckled, patting him on the shell. "Of course you do. Everyone, Michelangelo Evans from District 10!"
******
"Sky, what kind of mutant are you?" the blue-haired man asked, reaching out to touch her black wings.
The girl twirled her hair with a finger. "I honestly don't know. I have wings that are like Maleficent's and healing skin like Wolverine."
"That's interesting. Sky Morningstar from District 10!"
******
"What do you think of the Games?"
"I don't want to be a part of it. I don't want to have to kill others," Wesley replied.
"Well, it's a pity you were chosen, wasn't it?" Caesar said.
The deer mutant nodded.
"Wesley Prescott from District 11!"
******
"You're the second dragon mutant we're having this year. Do you think you'll survive the Games?" Caesar inquired.
"It doesn't matter if I'm going to survive or not. Wesley and I are gonna stick together until the end," Caravina said firmly.
"I like your determination!" he exclaimed.
"Thanks."
"Caravina Romano, from District 11!"
******
"Are you fighting for anyone in the Hunger Games?" Caesar asked.
"The only person I'm fighting for is my pet turtle, Spike," the red-masked turtle replied gruffly.
"Have you ever thought how interesting it is for a mutant turtle to have a pet turtle?"
"No. Don't question it. I love him very much. He's my only family and my best friend. So if I going down, I'm going down for him," Raphael responded. He got up from his seat and faced the cameras. "Spike...if you're watching this...I love you, dude. Stay strong." Sadness gripped at his heart, and the audience let out a loud "aww".
He returned to his seat.
"It must be hard," Caesar said. "You may be tough but I see that you have a heart. Everyone, give him a hand! Raphael Russet from District 12!"
******
"Wonderful dress you have on tonight, Alexandria," Caesar commented.
"Don't get used to it. I hate dresses. I'm only wearing one because it's required," she scoffed.
"What do you think of your peers?"
"I think they're too nice to be in the Games," Alexandria replied.
Caesar nodded. "Last but not least, Alexandria Woods from District 12! And that wraps it up for the interviews! Happy Hunger Games and may the odds be ever in your favor!"
******
That night, the tributes can hardly sleep, haunted by the fact that their ends would be waiting for them the next morning.
