Fancy Costumes and Chariot Rides
Alexis walked out of the room, feeling absolutely ridiculous. She was wearing a puffy dress that seemed to be made out of peacock feathers. The dress was dotted with all sorts of gemstones, giving it a glittery effect. She wore a matching headdress too.
Darkness was feeling quite embarrassed himself. He was wearing a fluffy blue and green fur coat that matched Alexis' dress. He looked at the ground as he came out, avoiding the stares if the other tributes.
Michelangelo skipped over to them, wearing a cowhide patterned outfit. "You guys look awesome!" he complimented. "Moo!" he added, showing off the little bell that they had hung around his neck.
Sky walked over to them, wearing a long-sleeved, pale pink dress. Her blonde hair was done into a bun. Fake pig-like ears were clipped at the top of her head.
"Thanks..." Darkness replied quietly.
Meanwhile, Sarina and Donatello came out, wearing similar outfits made to look like heaps of wires and circuit boards.
They shrugged at each other, then joined the group to mingle.
Caravina and Wesley wore matching farmer's outfits, a straw hat atop their heads. Caravina's blonde hair was done into two neat braids, while Wesley's was shaggy. They went over to Hazel and Colten, whose outfits were shimmery, like fish scales. The four tributes started chatting, talking about the costumes.
Sythia and Chase went over to their chariot. Sythia wore a golden colored dress, the skirt made out of hay-like material. A wheat stalk was placed in her hair, making her head feel uncomfortable and itchy. She gritted her teeth, unamused.
A dark yellow shawl was draped over Chase's shoulders, which was covering the upper half of his chest. He wore a kilt that was made out of wheat stalks. He skipped over to Shadow and Penelope.
Shadow wore a dress that made her look like a brick wall, and Penelope wore a grey, stone-like dress. It almost seemed that there were medieval patterns engraved on it.
"Hello," Shadow greeted him with a smile. Penelope waved.
"Hi!" Chase grinned. "You two look awesome!" he exclaimed.
"So do you," Penelope replied hesitantly, looking him up and down.
"Everyone seems so nice," Chase stated. "It's a shame that we have to see them go."
Shadow nodded. "I agree. I've talked to Hazel, Destiny, Kitty, and Michelangelo. They're all very lovely."
"And me!" Chase cut in.
Shadow laughed. "And you."
Kitty and Kat walked out, wearing outfits that were made of colorful patches. Kat wore pants, while Kitty wore a skirt. The two had bracelets made out of thread and needles that were used for sewing.
"I look ridiculous!" Kat exclaimed. "But at least this is better than wearing a dress. I hate dresses," she muttered.
Kitty gasped. "How could you hate dresses?"
Kat shrugged. "I was never a dress person. They feel uncomfortable to me. Wearing pants and much better. I don't really worry about my looks."
"Well, everyone has their opinions," Kitty replied. "In the interviews, you're supposed to wear a dress, so what'll you do?"
"It depends. If I feel that it's too exposed for me, I'm going to claw the designer until he gives me a new one," the cat mutant replied. "And no makeup!" she added quickly.
Kitty giggled at her dislike of girly items.
"What?" Kat frowned.
"Never mind."
The two joked around for a while by their chariot.
Ashton and Caleb emerged from their changing rooms, joining the group of tributes. They both wore long-sleeved button-up shirts with pants. They had fake electricity buzzing all over them, and their outfits were certainly unique.
The two District 6 tributes appeared just as Ashton and Caleb were about to leave to go to their chariot. Kayla and Olivia were wearing dresses with traffic light patterns and road patterns. They wore wheel-like bracelets on their wrists and ankles, as well as necklaces with stop signs on them.
The two District 6 girls joined the District 5 boys as they talked about different things.
"You remind me of my sister," Ashton murmured to Olivia.
"Really? That's interesting," she replied, smiling lightly.
The avian nodded and smiled back shyly.
"Do you miss her?" Olivia asked.
"Yeah."
Destiny and Leonardo burst out of the changing room, laughing. Destiny wore a knee length dress that looked like a tree. Leaves were used for the skirt, and the upper half of the dress was brown, and had a tree bark pattern. She wore brown flats and there were fake vines wrapping around her arms and legs. A leaf was placed in her hair. Her long brown locks were curled and they fell down her back.
Leo wore a long-sleeved top that was made of leaves too. It made him look sort of furry. He wore brown long pants that also had a tree bark style.
The wolf-raven gave the turtle a hug, giggling about how the costume made him look. But she had to admit, it did make him look funny.
The two friends made their way over to their chariot as the District 12 tributes walked out.
"Although I hate the Capitol and all, I have to admit, these costumes are pretry good!" Raphael commented. He wore a see-through black tinted coal miner's outfit. The pants were see-through, and there were pieces of fake coal that was dotted all around them. He had a few black smudges on his face as well.
Alexandria wore a dark grey dress with fake coal on it. Some of the black pieces were placed in her tails. She wore see-through leggings with also had the black pieces embedded in them. Her hair was tied into a ponytail.
The turtle and the raccoon went over to Leonardo and Destiny. Raphael gave Leo a fistbump, which the blue masked turtle happily returned.
Leonardo studied his outfit. "Nice costume," he commented. He laughed. "I look like a furry tree."
"Well it certainly is unique, isn't it, Raph?" Destiny turned to look at the red masked turtle. The turtle nodded.
"Indeed...very unique," Raphael replied hesitantly.
"That means he thinks you look weird," Alexandria said bluntly.
Raphael punched her playfully on the arm. Alexandria pretended to be hurt.
"Raphie, that's not very nice," she pouted.
"Don't call me that!" he snapped.
The raccoon mutant laughed.
"Anyway, I think we've got to go. It was nice meeting you guys," Leonardo said, making his way to his chariot with Destiny following behind him.
As the tributes settled in their chariots, there was a giant screen right in front of them, showing the face of President Saki and Caesar Flickerman.
Destiny had just realized that President Oroku came to District 7 to personally announce the tributes. It was a great honor, but at the same time, she showed no excitement.
As the chariots roll into view, the Capitol residents and their brightly colored clothing throw money and roses out to the tributes, although none of the items reach them.
Shadow flashed a grin as she waved to the crowd. The people screamed im excitement.
Michelangelo waved happily at the people with both hands, smiling widely. Sky waved slightly, with less excitement.
Caravina looked around the crowds, neither smiling nor waving. She simply spread her wings, which arouse the squealing. She rolled her eyes in disgust.
The chariots rolled to a stop. President Oroku turned to face them.
"Welcome, tributes," he announced. "Happy Hunger Ganes, and may the odds be ever in your favor!" he boomed, and a wave of squealing and clapping drowned the temporary quietness.
The chariots rolled back to the training building, where the tributes would be staying for the next four days until they enter the Games.
