Chapter Seven

I grabbed Lou's knife and put it in my pocket. It's nice to know that she had the same idea as me. I had only brought a match and not a knife, mostly because I forgot about it. Don't ask me how I did. I just did.
The phone rang. Great. Bree was calling me. I waited for her to speak to me.
"So," she said. "You're the only one left. Not surprising at all. Come to my office and I'll give you your reward."
Before I could respond, she hung up.
Well, looks like I'm going to her office then.
Once I got there, I saw that she was turned around in her chair.
"I'm here." I said, keeping Lou's knife concealed. I also had my own weapon.
"I've been expecting you." She said, turning around in her chair. She looked just like I remembered her. Dark red hair that everyone thought was brown, blond and reddish highlights, pale skin, covered in freckles, hazel eyes, and dressing kinda girly but not super girly. Her style is just like that.
"Yeah. I know you have." I said, taking a step towards her desk. She had cameras lining it so that she could see anything and everything.
"Bree, listen to me." I said. "You've got to stop this! You killed six people in almost a week. This needs to stop."
She moved her chair to a place where she could make direct eye contact with me.
"The only way that it will stop is if you take me out." She said.
Could I really do that? She was my former friend. She helped me through a lot. It'd be hard to kill her.
But this would prevent future killings.
I know what I must do.
Without hesitation, I pulled the knife out and held it to her throat.
"Will you stop?" I asked.
"N-never." She said.
"Then I have to do this."
I stabbed her directly in the heart, killing her instantly. It was upsetting to do but I couldn't let her kill anyone else.
I left the bloody knife near her body and took a match out of my pocket. I went over to the nearest flammable object and lit it on fire. As the fire spread, I ran out of the building and jumped into the bushes as soon as I was outside. I watched as the building burned to the ground.
"It's over." I muttered. "It's really over."
