Mark's pov
"How many?" Scott asked as I searched the area we were in.
"Not many. Maybe ten in total. But they're spaced out a lot," I responded.
"Good. Let's just hope there's enough supplies in here for the winter. The twins need some warmth," Scott said, jumping up and making his way towards the entrance to a food store ahead of us. I let out a hopeful sigh before following.
"Russ is getting better. He was so devistated after Red passed," Scott said, a mixture of slight joy, pain and sorrow filling his voice.
"Yeah. He has too good a heart. I don't know how someone so kind has made it this far in such a horrible world," I said in thought.
"Well, he is a good survivor. People remember good deeds, even if they don't want to. Russ had actually spared the life of Ohm, Luke and Tyler way back when we first attacked them. You did good bringing them to us when you did. They're good people and fun to hang with," Scott said proudly.
"Yeah, Ohm has the best advice to be honest. And his voice just makes you want to listen to every word he says, just like Snake. I don't know if thats good or bad though," I said truthfully.
"It can go either way. Shh, two up ahead. You take left," Scott said, lowering his voice to a whisper upon seeing the two flesh eating creatures a few feet away from us. I nodded and we quickly took the monsters out.
"You're getting better with that," Scott said, pointing to the arm blade thing I was wearing. Felix had left a note saying that I could use it if he ever turned or died. It came in real handy in melee attacks and stealth. Makes killing quick and easy.
Of coarse, it took a while to get used to. I don't know how Felix was able to use it so well so quickly. He apparently knew how to use it perfectly within a week. He is certainly one to look up on.
"Thanks, it only took me what, 2 years?" I said sarcastically, though it was the truth sadly.
"Oh come on, it hasn't been that-... oh shit it has. Wow, time really flew by once the twins came along. I'm honestly surprised," Scott said in shock.
"That makes one of us," I mumbled. Time seemed to drag on for me; every second feeling like an hour. It was suffocating and exhausting. You might think it meant I felt like there was more time to sleep but I haven't been able to sleep properly either.
"Don't be so down about everything okay. If you look to the bright side and try to be optimistic, even if it's the smallest things like putting your shirt on the right way first go," Scott said.
"Wait, what?" I questioned. He shrugged and continued walking.
"I've done it, and sad to say more than once. I even did it this morning," He said honestly. I chuckled and shook my head.
"Wow."
"Look, my point is. Even the little things can help. You'll see time starts to speed up and before you know it you're sixty years old," Scott said, sounding like an old man as he did. I laughed but kept my voice down as we approached another spot a zombie was at. Scott quickly took care of it, since he was in front, before turning to me and stopping.
"Okay, I'll try. Thanks for the advise. I really appreciate it," I said with gratitude. Scott smiled and nodded before suddenly getting up and running inside a small shop without checking first. I quickly climbed to my feet and raced after him, running into a seemingly familiar room.
"Scott! What the fuck?!" I said angrily when I saw him casually walking around the shop.
"What? There wasn't any danger," he said without any care seeming to form in his words.
"What if the building was swarmed? You could have died," I said, keeping my voice low.
"I know, I just wanted to try out if I could do that. Guess I got lucky then aye," Scott said with a shrug. I shook my head in disappointment. This was the same guy who just gave me good advise outside? I sure didn't think so.
"Just, don't do anything stupid like that again okay. You gave me a heart attack," I said sternly. He smirked but gave a slight nod before searching the building. It wasn't the giant food store we were planning to search but there were a few things we could take here.
"Hey, check this out," Scott called. I walked over to him and saw a small Jason Voorhees key chain from Friday the 13th. I smiled at how cool it looked and picked it up, seeing it wasn't damaged at all.
"Cool. But it would make too much noise with its rattling wouldn't it?" I questioned.
"We could take the chain off and let Jack play with it or Felix play with it. It would be a cool toy now wouldn't it," Scott said, his eyes flashing with excitement.
"It looks like you're the one who wants to play with it," I said with a chuckle.
"Maybe." was all he replied with before picking up another small key chain. This time it looked like a small Baymax from the Big Hero 6 movie that came out a little while before the world died. It was rather cute honestly.
"We could get one for each of them. Felix loves horror stuff even though he's not even two yet. He likes all the creepy stuff we pass by and is always eager to see a zombie when we pass. Kinda scares me a bit actually. Jack likes all the cute stuff though. He has a kind heart like his father," Scott said, stashing the two toys in his back after removing the chains.
"Yeah, it's funny how they're almost the compete opposite of the people they were named after. Jack used to be the one who enjoyed the rush of everything while Felix was a fabulous princess," I said with a smile.
"Yeah, he sure was an odd one Felix. I don't know how Cry chose him but... I'm glad he did. Now let's get to that food store. I want to see the twins reactions when they see what we got them," Scott said before racing out of the building, once again not checking for danger. I shook my head but a small smile formed on my lips as I remembered all the fun times with Felix.
"I'm glad he did too."
There. Happy enough for you pansies? (Not sure if it actually updated after all this time cause it still says it's a draft but... yeah)
