Chapter 4 ~ No More Secrets
I quickly slithered down the vent and up to the vent-frame. I had to lay flat on my stomach since the vent cover was half broken. I strained my ears to hear a very interesting conversation...
"In an hour?"
"Best bet we have..."
"Really, Evan? After he saved us?"
"We really need all of this...."
"What do you mean by 'this'?"
I heard a 'slap' noise.
"Supplies, you dip-shit!"
"I mean, Evan.... Really?"
"What?!"
"After all he did for us... You're the only one up for it...."
"Well, if it's only me, then it will be me..."
"Evan..."
"No, it's final."
"Im not taking part in this"
"Me neither"
"Me three...?"
"...No Evan..."
"Fuck you! Im not doing this shit!"
There was a brief moment of silence.
"Lui, Tyler, Jon?"
I heard a sigh. There was another moment of silence, only this one was longer.
"...No."
"Never."
"..."
"Tyler?"
"..."
"Tyler, take your vote...."
"..."
"Wildcat, for fuck's sake!"
"..."
I heard a 'thud'.
"..."
It was so silent that even my breath sounded deafening.
"...Come on. Say it already."
"..."
"....Tyler, seriously, It's like you lost your voice after the encounter with the guy..."
"..."
"..."
It was one of those awkward silences where one person is getting stared at by others.
"Hell. No."
What's with these guys and silence?
"Ughhh... All of you, I swear."
"What Evan?! You swear what?! That you're gonna kill us if we don't do this with you?! Hell no Im not killing that kid!"
My heart just stopped. Kill that 'kid?' Im no fucking kid. It took me almost all my might to contain my rage. Although one thing that saved me from letting it out was that all of the guys stuck up for me. So Evan is apparently Vanoss, Tyler is Wildcat, Delirious is Jon, or that's just a short thing for Jonathan?
I slithered backwards until I was out of sight. When I was safe from any line of sight, I crouched and escaped the vents faster that I would laying down.
I grabbed my sketch book and pencil and scribbled down a note in anger.
To whoever the fuck finds this first,
Don't even bother looking for me. Take anything the fuck you want from here. Thanks Evan for wanting to kill me after I saved your fucking ass, twice. Thanks a lot. Just made me re-think about trusting anyone ever again. By the way. Just stand in front of the calendar and take 3 paces left and one pace back, stomp 3 times. You're welcome.
-Mini
I slammed down my pencil and went to the 'kitchen area' sort of thing. I grabbed my backpack and threw on my dark grey hoodie and pulled the hood up, threw on a new pair of tracksuits and trainers I stored away and threw the note on the table in the living room. I went back filled up 4 water bottles and 5 'things' of food. Grabbed a flash-light, my silenced pistol, my trusty military knife and my favourite modified AK. I put my machete on my back and filled the rest of the space I had with ammo. I grabbed my note book and pencil.
I jumped on the balcony railing and looked back one last time. I heard noises as I jumped down. I sprinted away and took cover in a building close by. Only thing I didn't notice is an infected right behind me. Luckily, 'it' made noises before it reached me, giving me enough time to reach for my machete and stab 'it'. I walked forward and climbed the rubble and broken pieces of concrete rapidly.
I wanted to get as far away as possible from here. To think I could even trust them for a second...
I kept my head low and climbed further up. I heard growling noises close by. Very close. As I stopped moving, a figure stepped out of the shadows. I smirked to myself when I saw what it was. Another wolf, but this one was black furred. He looked like he was about to rip me apart.
"Hungry?"
The wolf stopped looking at me like it was going to kill me. It sat down and hung its tongue out. I reached into my backpack and pulled out a packet of meat. I took it out and threw it to the wolf. I observed the wolf while it was digging into the food. It looked like it was a girl, with a round stomach? Wait, pregnant?
Oh god...
I stood up and walked forward, only to hear the crumbling of rubble next to me. The wolf was awfully close to me. I moved a step forward and she moved with me. She was following me. I guess I don't mind some company around. Why not keep her? Lets make it my objective to protect her. Just as I thought that, she stood closer to me. I guess wolves can understand thoughts and languages. Awesome, I can just talk telepathically then.
We climbed over ruins and scavenged buildings. I swear I should call myself the king of luck. 'We' found so many supplies that it was hard to carry all of it. We agreed to camp out for a few days in a broken down building on the second floor, safe from the floor where 90% of the infected are, and not too high in case of need for a quick get-away.
While we set up our camp, she offered me if I wanted to learn the wolf language and telepathy. I agreed, although Im not sure how I understood her. So we spent most of the night revising the basics. It took me a while, but I now know and understand most of the language and we were starting to learn telepathy when she howled suddenly. She was in pain! I quickly sat up and touched hes stomach lightly. Wait... She was giving birth, right now?!
I hurried to stand up and quickly rushed to get a blanket. I brought it back and somehow managed to get her on it.

It took almost all night, but she made it. 5 of them. I was smiling while she was licking them. She looked up at me grate fully and I smiled back at her. I remembered that animal mothers need to eat to feed. I got out my water and poured some into a metallic bowl that I washed off before the night. I poured the water into it and took another bowl and filled it with some dog food I found earlier in the same building. There was so much of it, that it would at least last 3 months for her and her pups.
'What do you want to name them?'
I thought and she seemed to catch on. I listened carefully, somewhere in my brain was a woman's voice.
'Rage'
'Scar'
'Lily'
'June'
'Ghost'
I smiled as she said each one. They were perfect names for them.
'Those names are awesome....'
She squinted her eyes and stuck her tongue out slightly. She was smiling. I chuckled. I made it comfortable for them and sat away from them, watching the full moon finally set.
