I woke up from the sun light beaming in through the windows. I walked out of my room to go find Louis.
I heard music and I knew instantly that it was him.
I opened the door to him playing the piano with candles lit in red and pink jars.
"What's all this for?" I ask chuckling.
"Well, it's not much but I wanted to do something for Valentine's Day."
"It's Valentine's Day?" I asked.
"Yeah. I've been keeping track. Stupid I know but still. I hope you like it." He said standing up.
I walk over to him and wrap my arms around his neck as I look up at him.
"It's perfect." He leans down as I lean in and he kisses me softly.
"Hey, I got one more thing for you.
"What is it?"
He hands me a small box.
I open it and I see a ring inside.
"Where did you get this?"
"It was my moms. She gave it to me before I was sent here. She told me to use it when the time was right and so I think the time is pretty right now."
I put in on and tears started to form in my eyes.
"Thank you Louis."
"No, thank you."
"For what?" I asked giggling.
"For being here, in life, and being the most perfect person I could ever ask for." He said grabbing my hands and holding them in his.
"I love you y/n." He whispered.
"I love you too Louis."
He hugged me and I rested my head on his chest. I felt his head rest on mine and my heart filled with love. He backed up and told me to wait a second. He walked over to the record player and turned on classical music.
I smiled at him as he held out a hand asking me for a dance. I took his hand and he led me around for a dance. I laughed and he joined in on the happy laughter.
The song slowed down and he pulled me in. I snaked my hands inside his trench coat and hugged him around the waist as I listened to his heartbeat. We slowly swayed and he spoke.
"Ya know, we may be in the apocalypse but there is no happier place I'd rather be then holding you, right here, making the best of this life."
And that's when I realized no matter how crappy life gets, having Louis by my side will always give me a light in the dark.
"Happy Valentine's Day Louis."
"Happy Valentine's Day baby."
