Back to the regular universe ☺️ how many of you missed the apocalypse universe?! I know I did!

I walked quietly around the safe zone. It was a normal day, my day off from hunting as well, so I decided to take a stroll. I was pretty comfortable within the safe zone to protect myself. I was comfortable by myself, usually the silence of loneliness didn't bother me, and today it didn't still. I took a deep breath as I walked throughout the woods on the warm spring day. The nice cool fresh air rushed into my lungs and seeped into my bloody I smiled at the feeling of my body refreshing and I stretched slightly.
I heard a snap from behind me and knew something got caught. Wether it was a bunny or a walker, it didn't matter to me. The group would end up going hunting later today so that was their problem.
I sighed and turned back around to keep on walking.
I walked for a little longer, the sun flashed through the leaves, strobing my eyes with blinding light every so often. I could hear the soft crunch of the unthawing grass below me. I took many steps forward with my head to the sky. As I took another step I heard a click. I froze in my place and tensed up. I slowly looked down to see my foot stepping on the pressure plate of a trap.
"Oh shit." I whispered to myself in fear.
My mind raced, sifting through solution after solution I could do to solve this problem with the least amount of damage.
"I could wait for Louis but he's gonna be a while, the group isn't supposed to hunt for another hour or two. I could call for help but that might alert the walkers and then I'd be royally screwed. I could try to lift my foot really fast and miss the trap? No way, I would never be fast enough for that. I could try to put some wood on either sides of my ankle to stop the teeth from digging in?"
I rejected all of those ideas as they came to mind.
"The best bet is to just wait here till they come find me."

I had waited about an hour until I heard distant rustling. It could be the group but it could also be a walker, or even a bear. I put my guard up and my heart started to pump with adrenaline.
"Hello?" I called out.
"Y/n?" A voice asked from behind the bushes.
"Louis!" I half cheered half called "help me please! Please help!"
Louis came rushing out of the bushes as soon as he heard my cry. He looked around to see what the problem was and his eyes glued to my foot.
"Oh shit."
"That's what I said!" I laughed trying to make the situation less nerve wracking.
"Okay..." Louis paced trying to think of what to do. He was nervous "I'm gonna take some woods and pu it around your ankle. I don't think it's gonna completely stop it from nicking you but it should decrease it. Louis walked over steadily with two pieces of thick wood.
"Okay. I need you to lift your foot very very quickly. Got it?"
I nodded and got ready
"3...2..1...LIFT!"
I lifted my foot quickly but the trap snagged my jeans. The trap cracked and clamped down on the wood. I felt the teeth pierce my leg and I cried out.
"Ow!" My eyes started to tear up and I started to shake in pain.
"I know it hurts. Let me get you out." Louis knelt down and pushed the sides to open the trap. The trap snapped open, ripping the teeth out of my ankle. I cried in pain again and Louis shushed me. I forgot about the whole walker situation.
He took off his jacket, three off his shirt and quickly bent down to tie it around my foot.
"Okay that should stop the bleeding for a little bit. Come on, let's get back."
I hobbled alongside him back to the school. Everyone flooded around me to see if I was okay. When I assured them I was fine, Louis brought over Ruby to patch me up.
"Damn, that's one nasty bite. Bear trap?" I nodded "Them fuckers will get you."
I laughed as she put proper bandages around my ankle. Ruby picked up the bloodied shirt and handed it to Louis.
"You may want to wash this... or burn it."
Ruby walked away and Louis sat next to me. He plopped the shirt down next to him and sighed
"Can't keep yourself out of trouble can you?"
"I just wanted to go on a walk." I shook my head.
"You have to actually watch where you're walking." He joked.
"Yeah yeah. Whatever." I shouldered him and he put his arm around my waist.
"I'll keep you safe." He mumbled into my hair as he kissed my temple.
"Good, because I need it."
