"Why is everyone making bread right now?" Louis asked confused as he showed me another article of some famous person picking up the bread hobby.
"Because people are bored as all shit." I replied dryly. Coronavirus was a new thing to hit. And when we all went into lockdown, we humans had to figure out what to do with our time. So what did we decide was our pass time? To make bread.
"Maybe we should make some bread ourselves?"
"Absolutely not. I like to distance myself from the general population as much as possible so that's gonna be a no from me dawg."
"You're so annoying." Louis laughed as he rolled his eyes
I went back to watching my show and Louis got up to go to the kitchen. After a minute or two I heard a loud clatter.
"You alright in there?" I shout.
"Yeah! Just knocking things over like an idiot!" He replied back loudly.
"So an every day occurrence. Got it." I threw a thumbs up in the air even though he couldn't see it.
"Shut up!" Louis sounded offended. Another crash happened so I decided to see what was happening.
I walked into the kitchen to see Louis struggling to hold a couple pans, a mixer and a bag of flour in his arms.
"What are you doing?" I asked slightly scolding him.
"I'm making bread." He mumbled.
"By yourself?"
"Mhm."
"As in without help?"
"Yes."
"Like no one else to be here?"
"I think that's what by myself means."
"This house is going to burn." I mumbled as I punched the bridge of my nose. "Okay okay fine. I'll help you make bread, but only because it'll be less work than picking up my house that's in ashes after you've burned it down." I sassed, not a minute later Louis dropped the flour "Well maybe not." I whispered to myself.
"No, Louis, flour goes on the pin, not more flour on the bread. Dear god." I grumbled.
"Oh oh." Louis grabbed the back of flour and started to tip it over the pin.
"What the hell are you doing?"
"Putting more flour on the pin."
"Just use some that's on the table already!"
"Oh." He dragged out in realization.
"You're hopeless." I shook my head as I kneaded the dough more.
"It's in the oven!" Louis celebrated.
"We aren't in the clear yet." I mumbled as I drank a little bit of my water.
"You know I really think you underestimated me."
"You tried to put six cups of salt in our bread."
"The measurements are confusing."
"How does a 1 look like a 6 and how does teaspoons look like cups?!"
"They all blurred together."
"And that's exactly why I 'underestimated you'." I sarcastically repeated
Louis pouted and I walked up to him after throwing the hand towel onto the center island.
"Louis..." I started "it's okay that you're not that good at baking. You're good at so many other things. Like playing the piano, or singing me to sleep... or eating my buns."
"W-what?" He asked getting all flustered.
"You know, the buns I make for holidays? The ones with the butter soaked into them."
"R-right right. Uh huh." He stuttered.
"Come on, let's start on the cookies. You will do better at those."
"They smell so good." Louis practically drooled.
"Hey! No eating the raw cookie dough! That's bad for you." I smacked his hand as he reached for the bowl.
"But it tastes so good."
"No!"
Before I put the bowl in the sink I wiped my finger through it and ate some left over dough.
"Hey! No fair!"
"What? I didn't do anything!" I giggled.
"You totally ate some!"
"I did not!"
"Yes you-" a ding sounded and I knew the bread was done.
"Oh my look at that! I guess we will have to end this conversation to get the bread out." She chuckled nervously
Louis pulled the bread out and let it cool.
I put the cookies in the oven and set the timer.
"Now we wait."
The timer soon went off abs we both got up to get the cookies from the oven.
"They look so good!" Louis tried to grab one but dropped it and shouted.
"Hot!"
"Well yeah you Dingus they just came out of the oven." I laughed. "Wait for them to cool."
Louis was not a patient person, he never has been, it's always now now now for him.
"I want a cookie!" He complained.
"How about a kiss from the chef?" I asked as I puckered up and kissed him.
"That's not very professional." He laughed.
"But it was very nice."
"It was." He hummed in agreement
"One more." I asked as he leaned back over.
Louis grabbed my waist and pulled me in for a longer kiss. I set down the spatula still kissing him and I wrapped my hands around his neck.
"Mm okay that's enough."
"You taste good." He grumbled as he tried to continue kissing me.
I finally pulled away and got back to plating the cookies.
"There you go. Here's your cookie."
"Thanks darlin, you're the best."
"I know!" I called as he walked out of the room, happy with his plate of cookies.
