Capital baby pt 1

Post apocalyptic AU
~~~~~
Louis's POV
After the zombie apocalypse, the world was on broken down into sections with a capital, almost like the hunger games.
I was stuck in the agricultural section.
Unlike the hunger games, our sections were relatively rich.
We weren't rolling on cash or even middle class but we weren't starving every day. We got two meals a day, had water for three showers a week per person in my three person household, and had enough money saved up for our birthdays.
Every year we watched kids at age 18 blessed into their section.
I was one of those kids.
I walked toward the town square with a hitched respiratory system.
Every inhale and exhale was another tug of calm that was cast aside by the growing anxiety and stress.
I heard the crunch of gravel under my feet and continued to walk with sweat beading on my forehead.
As I looked up from my toes poking through my shoes I ran into someone.
A girl
She looked startled and she apologized.
"No, it was my fault. I wasn't looking where I was going."
She laughed and pushed hair behind her ear. Her hair was curled and strands from the front were loosely pinned back to give her a crown effect.
I couldn't help but find her attractive. She was definitely more beautiful than girls from around me.
She must be 18 and getting blessed too. I spoke and asked her where she was headed.
"The town square for the blessing."
"Oh me too. Where are you from?"
"What's your name?" She asked, probably trying to change the subject.
"Louis."
"I like it, it's pretty."
"Well thank you, but not as pretty as you." I flashed her my famous smile and she laughed.
"You're a jokester aren't you?" She asked in awe.
"Maybe a little."
She just giggled in response.
"So where did you say you were from?"
She didn't answer but looked down.
We were interrupted by the bell of the square ringing, meaning we were demanded to go there at this minute.
I said my goodbye -as she didn't seem to follow order- and went to the square.
I stood in line and waited to be called up.
While waiting in line, I started to daze off into my own world. I looked around and tugged my mind off to my imagination.
Soon I was pulled out by a commotion on stage.
I snapped my head back and saw the girl from earlier on the stage.
The announcer spoke violently into the microphone.
"We must pause the ceremony to have an emergency coronation. The president has been murdered and as written on his will, the person next in line will be coronated as soon as possible. So please welcome y/n l/n to the stage and give her your full attention."
The girl, y/n,  stepped forward and followed the directions of the blesser.
The blesser held a bible and told y/n to raise her right hand.
"Repeat after me. After you finish your pledge you will place your left hand on the Bible and continue to keep your right hand raised and you will recite the presidential code of election. If you fail to recite it, it will count as an automatic fail and you will be removed from the family name. Do you understand and thereby conduct yourself to start the process of election?"
"I do." She rang seriously, her knitted eyebrows and pursed lips didn't even twitch. She acted unlike I had known her. Not that my two minutes of experience validated anything, but I still knew what she was like.
I decided to really pay attention to her.
"Repeat after me. I Y/n l/n"
"I Y/n l/n..."
"Swear to serve my country..."
"Swear to serve my country..."
"No matter how sick or happy..."
"No matter how sick or happy..."
"For as many days as god has presented me."
"For as many days as god has presented me."
"I shall do my duties as the president..."
"I shall do my duties as the president..."
"Which will only be acts of selflessness and prosperity."
"Which will only be acts of selflessness and prosperity."
"I will make choices based purely for the people..."
"I will make choices based purely for the people..."
"And for the protection of our country."
"And for the protection of our country."
"You may now put your left hand on the Bible and recite the code of presidency."
"As president, I devote my every decision to fight for the just. I provide care to the country and will sacrifice my every breath for the people. I will never choose any choice based off of selfish thoughts or reckless behavior. I know the consequences for acts of unjust actions are all fair and may be punishable by death if seen fit by court. I sign my life into the seat of presidency and will never take it back. If acts of presidency are violated and I am convicted, I will subside my freedom of speech to follow any penalty. This rules include; stealing, violence, policial disputes, unfair distribution of goods and sexual misconduct. I am also signing myself to a arranged marriage if my guardians see fit. If I violate the arranged marriage that will also suspend me from my presidency and I will be removed from the family name. I have learned the rights and boundaries of my position and will forever and henceforth be known as president Y/n l/n."
"Y/n l/n," the blesser tapped y/ns shoulders then her head then her hand on the Bible "you are now president."
The crowd clapped and there were even a few cheers from the crowd.
I didn't know what to believe. I almost felt betrayed in a way.
But one thing I was sure of, was that I have to see her again.
