Third pov

Louis decided to stay.
He loved the community and met lots of friends.
He stayed in contact with y/n but on a more friendly level.
Louis helped build the community up and he got a job working electricity.
A year had passed without anything happening.
Y/n and Caleb grew closer and Louis saw it but he knew they were made for each other.
Louis smiled when they were together. He laughed when something happened and y/n would tell him.
Louis was starting to except it.
It was getting easier.
He will always love her and want her but he knew that it wasn't meant to be.
Another year passed and y/n had turned eighteen.
Louis realised that y/n and Caleb could get married.
And like Caleb was reading Louis's mind, he proposed.
It was beautiful.
Caleb laid out roses on their floor.
He lit the candles that Caleb always wanted to save.
Y/n had a good day at work and this was the icing on the cake of a good day for her.
Y/n unlocked the door to their home and turned on the light.
Caleb walked up behind her and put his hands in front of her eyes.
"Umm, Caleb, I turned on the lights so I could see. I don't think this is helping." She laughed.
"I have a surprise for you." Caleb whispered in her ear.
"Okay." She obliged.

Caleb directed his almost fiancée into their room and uncovered her eyes.
Y/n was taken back by the beauty and the romantic gesture.
"Oh my... Caleb! It's beautiful!"
"Beauty." Caleb called from behind her. She turned and saw Caleb on one knee "I don't need a whole story to tell you that I want you for the rest of my life. Will you marry me?"
She nodded and celebrated with Caleb all night.

The day of the wedding came and everyone was so excited.
Louis thought of this as a bittersweet moment.
He tucked the little card into the boxes bow and walked to the little white aisle and chairs.
They had done well with making it look normal.
Louis placed his present on the table and sat in the back.
The wedding had gone well.
Louis couldnt help but be a little sad.
He cried, sad tears and happy tears.

The wedding and such was over in no time and everyone was heading their superstate ways.
Louis decided to call it a day and leave.

Y/n and Caleb brought all their presents into their house and opened them all.
Y/n noticed the little red present from Louis and snatched it.
She opened the box and saw a little wood piece.
She furrowed her brows and looked around. She noticed a little letter and picked it up.
It read y/n on the front in Louis's handwriting.
She opened the little card and read.

I thought I'd be giving you this on our wedding, the reason I gave you the bracelet and charm was so it could be completed like you would be when you'd marry me. But now I have to give it to you so you're complete when you marry him. I'm sorry I couldn't be enough for you.
I would love to give you my all but it's okay.
At least you're happy

Y/n, without another moment to think, noticed that there were screams coming from below them.
Y/n jumped to the window and saw walkers breaking through the barriers.
"Holy shit!" She screamed.
Caleb grabbed his rifle and put on his gear.
"Caleb! Where are you going?!"
"I'm going to help!"
Caleb ran out of the room
Y/n ran out after him and chased down her new husband.
"Caleb!"
She lost him.
"Y/n!" She heard a familiar voice shout.
"Caleb!" She shouted as she saw her husband running to her.
"Caleb! Y/n!" Another voice shouted against the chaos.
They both turned to as Louis fighting off walkers around him.
"Louis!" Caleb shouted back.
"GET Y/N OUT OF HERE! It's gonna be overrun!!" Louis shouted with a couple grunts.
Y/n watched Louis as Caleb pulled her out of the once beautiful and peaceful community.
As she almost made it out, she saw Louis buckle and scream.
He got bit.
"LOUIS!!" She shrieked.
Her heart shattered as pain radiated against his face.
She pulled away from her husband.
"Y/n!! What are you doing?!"
"Louis needs help!"
"Leave him! Or you'll end up like him!"
"I can't just leave him!! He's my best friend!!" Y/ns brows furrowed as her eyes grew sad.
She knew that Caleb was letting her go.
Y/n ran to him slashed the walkers around him.
The herd had cleared to the back so she had time.
She looked down to see his shirt completely torn and soaked with blood.
She closed her eyes tight and whimpered when she saw the huge teeth gash in his side.
He couldn't be saved
She started to cry as he gasped in pain.
She held him in her arms and comforted him as she cried.

Your POV
"Hey, you're gonna be okay. You will be okay."
"Wow, then you must not want me to be alive if you're crying that hard and telling me I'll be okay." He joked as he convulsed in pain.
I laughed through tears as I looked into his dulling eyes.
"How could you get bit?"
"I guess I'm just looking like a snack too hard." He joked.
"Louis you're so stupid!"
"I guess I'm stupid again."
"Louis! That's not what I meant." I cried in pain, emotional pain.
"Nothing matters to me more then your happiness. As long as you're happy." He spoke softly and calmly as his breaths hitched
"I'm not gonna be happy if you're dead!"
"Well then I guess I got your feelings wrong again."
"Louis! Stop it!"
"I can't. It isn't like me to stop anytime soon. After all, I am Louis!"
I sobbed even harder and hugged his upper body.
Louis leaned his head into my arms
"My jacket pocket. The letter, read it."
I could hear his power in his voice fading out.
"N-no. L-Louis. Louis. Come on Louis. Stay with me."
I could see him slipping away.
He looked up at me and slowly closed his eyes and touched my hand.
He took a deep breath in through his nose and then stopped.
His body went limp and he stopped.
He was peaceful.
I held his body as my sobs shook my body. As I sobbed I reached into his pocket and grabbed the letter assigned to me.
I grabbed it and then rested his head on the ground.
I kissed his forehead and left him.
I got up slowly and walked away. I sniffled and ran to Caleb's arms.
"It's okay beauty. He's okay now. Hes in a better place. He's all warm now in a cloud blanket. He's playing the whitest cleanest piano with all ten fingers there."
I let out a little laugh at that thought and I knew that he was happy. He was free.
Free from this.

The group walked for a day or two before we set up camp again. We grew from the ground up and made a new little community.
Lois has been gone for a week before I read the letter.
I sat down on the blankets we used for a bed.
I grabbed the paper out of my pocket and shakily opened it.
My eyes scanned the letter and it brought tears to my eyes.

Y/n,
If you're reading this, I'm either dead or seriously bad at hiding where I put my late night letters
I write to get my feelings out.
I know, it's kinda stupid, but it helps a lot.
I remember the first day you got here.
I had to save your ass

I also remember the second day and the third day and the week after that.
You were so clumsy, as far as I can tell you still are.
I assume if you're reading this I'm gone.
I hope I died in a cool way.
Otherwise all my friends in heaven wouldn't let me live it down
But I guess I couldn't live it down because I'm dead.
I guess I'm just trying to avoid the point of the message.
What I'm trying to say is that I love you
I love you more then anything
And even on that first day that I laid my eyes on you, I wanted you.

You are so so special to me
And if I died I hope it was protecting you and Caleb.
You guys are made for each other.
It makes me sad that I couldn't be the one to complete you but I wanted you to be happy
My entire fuel is making you happy now
Because when you're happy, you smile, and when you smile it makes me happy
And nothing makes me more happy then when you're happy
You could be married to a dwarf and have four little half elf kids and if you were happy, I couldn't be mad.
Because nothing is more important then your happiness
I've figured that true love is giving up what makes you happy for someone else's happiness.
I gave up you for your happiness
Dorm cry too long for me
I gave up myself for you to be alive and thriving
I may be gone, I may not have fulfilled my life,
But at least you're happy

Hey guys! I hope you enjoyed this mini series!
I know it was a little sad and it didnt end with Louis and y/n together but all my other stories are like that and I wanted to do something a little different.
I probably won't do another mini series for a while because it's a lot of work and takes up a lot of time!
More one shots will be coming out soon so stay tuned for those and I may even do an alternative ending to this where y/n ends up with Louis, that's VERY iffy tho.
Maybe I'll keep that for when my book is running very dry. XD
