Meeting
Julia
I showered quickly, washing off the night as best as I could.
It was strange, but I felt like Jagger really wanted to hook up with me and I wasn't sure why. What was in it for him besides having another notch in his belt?
I wasn't desperate, but I wouldn't have minded being with a guy like Jagger, but only for a fling. I couldn't see my myself with him as a girlfriend—we were opposites.
I fell asleep sometime between 3 and 4 am, but to my surprise a text came bright and early Saturday morning. I thought it was the girls, but it was from Jagger.
"Hey can you meet me at the library sometime today?"
I narrowed my eyes and yawned. What did he want me for now?
"Why? What's up?"
"I need help with my paper and figured you'd be the best person to take the task."
Seriously...
"I'll pay you."
"I'll be there at four."
Jagger
Solid.
I was excited that Julia was going to help me ace this test or I'd lose my scholarship.
I didn't care about school—I didn't care about tests, but I did care about passing so I would be able to play football.
She was alright, ole Julia, just not my cup of tea in the dating department.
I'm sure I wasn't hers because, man, did she like to get snippy with me.
"Got plans, bro?" Moose asked, waltzing into my room like he owned the place.
"Yeah, I gotta pass this stupid class..."
Moose yawned and grabbed a beer from my mini-fridge.
"You're just trying to get laid."
"That would be a bonus," I laid back, smiling, "I wonder what she feels like."
Moose shook his head, "I could probably ask around."
"Man, she's not a slut," I smiled, "I don't even think she's dated one guy at this school."
Julia
I lay there in silence, staring up at my ceiling. The last thing I wanted to do was hang out with Jagger the Jock.
All he talked about was football and parties and getting laid...
That would probably be the extent of our conversations unless I stayed focused on the topic at hand and those big muscled arms of his.
NO!!!
Oh God! I was already losing sight of the task at hand and we weren't even in the same room yet.
I was going to wear the most elegantly frumpy outfit that I could find. I cherished my mother's sweaters from the thrift stores and that's usually what I wore, oversized sweaters and jeans.
I still didn't want to do this, but getting paid to help someone pass a class was right up my alley.
I knew Jagger was going for marketing and business, but I wanted to be a pharmacist with a minor in health. We were opposites in every faction.
But I wasn't going to lie—I'd fantasized about him for the last two years and that made my core burst.
I wasn't sure why I didn't take him up on the offer to stay the night with him—probably because that just wasn't my style and I didn't want to give him the smug satisfaction.
"This will be alright, Julia.." I mumbled to myself as I hopped into the shower, "It's just one meeting, maybe more...maybe a few..just to get him on the right path to success..."
Success..something I was striving for academically and hopefully not going full-on bankrupt regarding my student loans.
I gathered my stuff when it inched closer to four and headed to the library.
The sick feeling in my stomach wasn't necessarily brought on by seeing Jagger—it was whether or not he'd try anything with me.
Of course, he was still the pervert that everyone loved.
"Can't you wear a mini-skirt or something?"
He asked me as I walked into to the private study room in the back of the library.
"Do you own anything else to wear besides your jersey or letter jacket?"
He smirked at me, "Why are you always mouthy?"
"Why are you always up my ass about the way I am?"
"I could be up your ass in different ways."
"You're disgusting."
"You know you like it."
Jagger
She grated on my nerves, but it was the kind of grating that I was hoping for.
Her big-rimmed glasses and over-sized sweaters only made me wanted to take her right there on that table. I don't know why—she hated my guts and I was an asshole, I do admit.
It wasn't easy getting along with me, but I kept my guard up and so did she. I knew she did—I knew she had deep, dark secrets that would one day come out and I'd be there to witness it all.
Moose even told me there wasn't much he could find on her whereas my life was an open book.
She wasn't popular in the way that I was, but I didn't care much for that anyway. My father did—as long as I kept up the appearances he was happy man and I didn't have to hear his bullshit when I got home for break.
"You hungry?" I asked, suddenly starving as my stomach grumbled.
She sighed, "Not really..."
"I could order a pizza..have it delivered," I said, pulling out my phone.
"I don't..I really don't want to eat."
"I'm buying, Julia."
She didn't glance in my direction as she pulled out her notebooks and other materials. That's what it was—I never really saw her eat much. I knew she didn't have the money.
"What do you like on your pizza? I'm ordering anyway so might as well let me know."
She rolled her eyes and shrugged, "Sausage and mushrooms."
I chuckled, "I gotta sausage for ya."
"Is that all you think about?"
"98 percent of the time, yes."
If I didn't know any better, I thought I'd seen the creeping of a tiny smile curl at her perfectly, plump lips.
"And what do you think about the other two percent?"
"Annoying the hell out of you."
