Chapter One

Birthdays always meant a big party, even if it was just the six of them. Astrid's birthday was no exception. They had all gone out to dinner with her family, who had moved to the beach town after retirement, and then made their way to a hotel famous for the club that was housed in the basement.

The night was filled with laughter and celebration as Astrid and her friends gathered at the hotel. The vibrant atmosphere of the club echoed with lively music, creating an electric energy that fueled the festivities. The group danced and celebrated, letting loose in honor of Astrid's special day.

At some point, Snotlout and Ruffnut had decided to engage in a fierce composition to see who could handle more alcohol. Snotlout ordered some of the stronger drinks and Ruffnut stratically switched up what she ordered.

"Really a cocktail, those things are nasty," Snotlout said, eyeing Ruffnut's drink before taking a swig of his whisky.

Ruffnut smirked, lifting her cocktail glass with a playful glint in her eyes. "Well, you stick to your manly whisky then. I'll enjoy the finer things in life," she teased, taking a deliberate sip and savoring the taste.

As the composition continued Snotlout could tell he was losing so without another thought he began to steal Ruffnut's drinks and downing them before she could react.

Ruffnut raised an eyebrow, watching Snotlout with a mix of amusement and annoyance. "Seriously? That's your strategy?" she chuckled, crossing her arms.

Snotlout grinned mischievously, holding up the empty cocktail glass. "Works like a charm," he said with a wink. After a few more rounds of Snotlout taking Ruffnut's drink, the composition came to a close with the blonde declaring that she quit.

As the party came to a close the group separated into their rooms. Hiccup and Astrid together, Tuffnut deciding to mix things up went with Fishlegs leaving Snotlout and Ruffnut to share a room. Though neither was complaining as they had been secretly dating for a while now.

The night continued to unfold in unexpected ways as the group dispersed to their respective rooms. Hiccup and Astrid, happily exhausted from the celebration, retreated to their room hand in hand. Tuffnut and Fishlegs, an unusual yet amusing pairing, embarked on their own adventure for the night.

Snotlout and Ruffnut, the mischievous duo, entered their shared room with a mixture of laughter and lingering glances. The atmosphere shifted from the lively chaos of the club to a more intimate setting as the two found themselves alone behind closed doors.

Once inside, Snotlout couldn't resist the opportunity to continue their playful banter. "So, I guess I win. You should have known better than to challenge me," he boasted, a triumphant grin on his face.

Ruffnut rolled her eyes, playfully shoving him. "Only because you resorted to stealing my drinks. That's cheating, by the way," she teased.

Snotlout chuckled, wrapping his arm around her waist. "Cheating or not, it got the job done. Besides, it's all in good fun," he replied, pulling her closer.

Ruffnut smirked, shaking her head in mock disapproval. "You're impossible, Snotlout. But I guess I wouldn't want you any other way," she admitted, leaning into his embrace.

The two soon found themselves tangled in each other's arms and enjoying the warmth of the other. The night unfolded with whispers of shared secrets, laughter echoing through the room, and stolen glances turning into lingering kisses. Their playful banter seamlessly transitioned into a more tender connection as the mischievous duo embraced the intimacy of the moment.

The next morning Snotlout woke up with a deadly migraine, but upon seeing the sleeping form beside him he momentarily forgot the pain. He would never get over the fact that she had chosen to date him. Of all people, she chose Snotlout Jorgenson. His soft smile quickly turned into a snort when Ruffnut lifted her head, a tangled mass of blonde obscuring her vision.

Ruffnut groaned, shielding her eyes from the morning light. "Ugh, what time is it?" she mumbled her voice husky from a combination of a night of celebration and perhaps one too many drinks.

Snotlout couldn't help but chuckle at her disheveled appearance. "Time to face the consequences of our actions," he teased, reaching over to check the time on his phone. "It's not too late, but we might want to get moving before the others start wondering if we fell into another dimension."

Ruffnut let out a groan, burying her face in the pillow. "Ugh, I just want to stay in bed eating potato chips and never move."

"Yeah, I'm not letting you just lay in a pile of crumbs and not shower. That's nasty," Snotlout said, tucking a tuff of Ruffnut's hair behind her ear and placing a kiss on her forehead.

"Nasty? This from the guy who was literally double-fisting every 'nasty' cocktail I ordered last night. Because of you, I had to order three at one time just to get a sip," Ruffnut scoffed, moving onto Snotlout's lap so he couldn't get away from her.

Snotlout chuckled at her accusations, twirling a strand of her hair through his fingers. "Now you're just exaggerating, doll. I don't drink those fruity little umbrella abominations."

"You wish. Tuffnut even has video evidence, want to see it? It's quite entertaining, minus you stealing my drinks—right out of my hand, mind you!"

Snotlout leaned in a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Video evidence, huh? I'd love to see that masterpiece. But come on babe, I think you're just pissed that I beat you in the drinking competition."

Ruffnut smirked, raising an eyebrow. "Oh, please. You cheated, and you know it. But fine, try and gaslight me."

Snotlout chuckled, enjoying the banter. "Gaslighting? Me? Never. I'm just a master strategist, that's all."

Ruffnut couldn't help but laugh at his confident demeanor. "Master strategist, my ass. You're just a big baby and don't like losing."

Snotlout feigned offense, placing a hand over his heart. "Ouch, right in the ego. But hey, at least I'm a big baby who knows how to have a good time," he retorted, a playful twinkle in his eyes.

Ruffnut grinned, leaning in to give him a quick peck on the cheek. "Yeah, yeah, you're insufferable, but I wouldn't have it any other way," she admitted, a genuine warmth in her eyes.

"Hey you two coming or should we go to breakfast without you guys," Tuffnut called from outside the door dragging the couple back down to reality.

Ruffnut groaned, untangling herself from the sheets. "Yeah, just give us a minute to get ready." Placing a final kiss on Snotlout's lips Ruffnut walked towards the bathroom to shower, "Wwe should be fast so he doesn't get suspicious."

Snotlout chuckled, watching her disappear into the bathroom. "Suspicious? About what?" he called after her, feigning innocence.

Ruffnut's muffled voice came from behind the closed door. "About us. You know how Tuffnut is. He loves to meddle in other people's business."

Snotlout shook his head with a smirk, knowing she was right. Tuffnut's curiosity knew no bounds, especially when it came to the personal lives of his friends. As Ruffnut showered, Snotlout took the opportunity to get up and start getting himself ready for the day ahead.

When Ruffnut emerged from the bathroom, refreshed and slightly more awake, she found Snotlout already dressed and looking far too pleased with himself. "Ready to face the scrutiny of our nosy friends?" he teased, holding out her clothes for her.

Ruffnut rolled her eyes but couldn't hide the smile that tugged at her lips. "It was bound to happen at some point. We're not exactly subtle, are we?"

Snotlout grinned, helping her with her clothes. "Who needs subtlety when you've got charm and a winning personality like mine?" he quipped, earning an eye roll from Ruffnut.

As they made their way out of the room and joined the others for breakfast, Tuffnut couldn't resist giving them a sly grin. "So, how was your night, lovebirds?" he teased, wiggling his eyebrows suggestively.

"You knew," Ruffnut gasped turning to her brother demanding an explanation. Tuffnut brushed her off replying that he is her brother and knows everything about her.

The group erupted into laughter, and even Fishlegs and Hiccup couldn't help but chuckle at Tuffnut's not-so-subtle attempt to play the overprotective brother. Snotlout, unfazed, draped his arm around Ruffnut's shoulders with a smirk.

"Yeah, yeah, we're in love, can't you see the stars in our eyes?" he joked, earning a playful shove from Ruffnut.

The breakfast continued with light-hearted banter and shared laughter, the events of the night before becoming a source of amusement for the entire group. Tuffnut, satisfied with his successful attempt at teasing his sister and Snotlout, shifted the conversation to other topics, and the friends enjoyed a hearty meal together.

As the day unfolded, the group decided to explore more of the city, taking in its sights and experiencing the local culture. Despite the initial teasing, Tuffnut's protective instincts subsided, and he joined in on the fun, realizing that his sister was happy and in good hands.

"Well I think we should go to the beach, it's supposed to have some really good waves for surfing, "Astrid said as the group walked out of a souvenir shop.

"Oh that sounds fun, pulse Heather doesn't work today so she can join us this time," Fishlegs replied clearly more excited about the idea of Heather hanging out with them than the actual beach.

The group agreed, and soon they found themselves at the beach, the sound of crashing waves and the salty breeze filling the air. They set up a makeshift spot on the sand, laying down towels and unpacking snacks. The day unfolded with a mix of sun, sand, and laughter as the friends enjoyed each other's company.

Heather, joining the group, greeted everyone with a warm smile. "So, what's the plan for today, guys?" she asked, settling down on a towel next to Fishlegs.

Astrid, with her adventurous spirit, suggested trying out the waves. "How about some surfing? The waves look perfect for it."

"You girls have fun, I'm going to grab a drink and relax," Hiccup said, kissing Astrid before walking off to the little shack that was selling a variety of items.

The group split into those eager to catch some waves and those content to soak up the sun on the beach. Astrid, Heather, Snotlout, and Tuffnut geared up for a surfing adventure, while Ruffnut and Fishlegs settled down with snacks, enjoying the beach atmosphere.

As the surfers ventured into the water, they quickly discovered that the waves were indeed perfect for riding. Astrid displayed her impressive skills, effortlessly riding the waves with grace and precision. Heather, determined to keep up, proved to be a quick learner under Astrid's guidance.

Meanwhile, Snotlout and Tuffnut, both with a competitive streak, turned the surfing session into a friendly competition. Each attempted to outdo the other with daring maneuvers, resulting in a series of comical wipeouts that had the onlookers on the beach laughing.

Back on the shore, Ruffnut and Fishlegs enjoyed the spectacle, sharing snacks and engaging in their own conversation. Fishlegs couldn't help but express his admiration for Heather's surfing abilities, prompting Ruffnut to roll her eyes in good-natured teasing.

"You're not going to start a fan club for her, are you?" Ruffnut joked, nudging Fishlegs playfully.

Fishlegs blushed slightly but laughed along. "Hey, she's just really good at it. It's impressive!"

Ruffnut grinned, taking a bite of her snack. "Well, I'll stick to solid ground, thank you very much. I don't need the ocean trying to knock me down."

"So you and Snotlout, when did that happen," Fishlegs asked changing the subject. Ruffnut pondered the question for a minute thinking back to when they had started dating.

"Well, it sort of happened gradually," Ruffnut began, a thoughtful expression on her face. "We've always had this banter and playful dynamic, you know? But then, one day, it just clicked. We realized there was something more between us. We've been dating for about three months now."

"Have you guys told your parents yet," Hiccup asked returning, knowing full well how much Snotlout's father judged every aspect of his life.

Ruffnut sighed, Looking over at where Snotlout shoved Tuffnut off of his board. "Not yet. You know how it is, especially with our families. We wanted to make sure it's solid before dealing with the judgment and opinions."

Hiccup nodded understandingly. "Yeah, I get that. Well, as long as you two are happy, that's what matters the most."

Ruffnut smiled appreciatively at Hiccup's supportive words. "Well enough about my relationship, let's talk about you and Astrid. Anything interesting happening between you two." Ruffnut smirked suggestively causing Hiccup to blush as he tried to deny her claims.

Hiccup stammered, trying to deflect the attention away from his own relationship. "Uh, well, you know, just the usual stuff. Nothing too interesting."

Ruffnut raised an eyebrow, clearly not buying his attempt at diversion. "Come on, spill the beans! We've been sharing our love stories; it's only fair you share yours."

Fishlegs joined in, eager for some juicy details. "Yeah, Hiccup, don't be shy. We're all friends here."

Hiccup chuckled nervously, glancing over at Astrid. "Well, I guess things are going well. We've been enjoying our time together, and, you know, just figuring things out."

Ruffnut snickered nudging the burnett. "That's not what I meant and you know it. Have you two made it to third base or not?"

Hiccup's face turned even redder, and he stammered in embarrassment. "Uh, well, that's really none of your business..."

Astrid, who had finished her surfing session and overheard the conversation, walked over with a smirk. "Oh, come on, Hiccup. No secrets between friends, right?"

The rest of the group joined in, teasing Hiccup and eagerly awaiting his response. Hiccup sighed, realizing there was no escaping the playful interrogation. "Fine, fine. Yes, we're... you know, exploring new territories. Happy now?"

The group burst into laughter, thoroughly enjoying Hiccup's awkward confession. Ruffnut high-fived Astrid, proud of her successful attempt to bring some humor to the conversation.

Tuffnut nudged Snotlout with a mock look of pride. "Looks like our man Hiccup is growing up."

The banter continued, and the group spent the rest of the day at the beach, enjoying the sun, the waves, and each other's company. As the sun began to set, casting a warm glow over the horizon, the friends gathered for a bonfire on the beach. They shared stories, laughter, and even a few songs, creating memories that would stay with them for a lifetime.
