I woke up leaning on Toothless with his wings protectively covering me. I take a deep breath before unravelling myself. He started to stir and gave me his toothless smile. I got up and walked to the water again to dip my feet in. Trying to escape both the villains really hurt my feet. I close my eyes, feeling the sun and wind on my face. I finally could relax until suddenly I heard footsteps coming from the entrance of the cove. I turn my head and saw Astrid
"Hey Hiccup." She says to me softly.
"Hey Astrid." I said looking back at the water. We sat in silence for a while enjoying the quiet. The breeze picked up speed a bit making the trees whistle in the wind. The sun getting covered by a cloud for a few moments before shining bright again.
"What brings you here this early in the morning?" I asked turning my attention to her
"I was wondering if you wanted to get breakfast with me at the Great Hall." She said with a light smile. She looked ready to go even before I answered.
"Sure why not"
We arrived at the door and pushed it opened. Only a few people were enjoying their food while the rest must be working. We take a seat at the table.
"I'm going to go get food. I'll be right back." I nod
I sit there quietly waiting for her to bring our food. I was enjoying the quiet chatter around me until I felt a large shadow cast over me. I look up and saw my fathers face. He didn't look happy nor mad. Just blank. Like he wasn't expecting me to be back at all. Did Astrid not tell him that I was back or that even went out looking for me?
"Hiccup? But how? My men spent days trying to find a way in and they couldn't find a way." He said. I guess she didn't tell him anything.
"Toothless escaped and he got Astrid to let me out." I tell him. He's blank face turned into a smile and picked me up and hugged me. Not as hard as last time though. I can currently still breath. During this, Astrid is watching this whole thing with a smile on her face. She comes over and sits down and we start eating. I feel like I haven't eaten in ages but I still ate slowly. My father kept asking me questions about what they did to me and if I said anything. There wasn't much to tell him since they left me alone most the time to find new ways to make me talk. Which all were pointless anyway. I think they tried nearly every torture method that didn't leave too many scars. I was lucky they didn't do anything more extreme.
The rest of the day was just Astrid and I training and walking around the forest to keep our minds clear. It was night by the time we stopped walking. I was sitting alone since she needed to get something from the village. The moon was rising and i just looked up at the sky. The stars were so beautiful. My thoughts kept going back to what if they did find a way to train dragons. What would happen to my island? What would happen to Berk? How will the archipelago deal with rogue dragon riders everywhere? I almost fell asleep from all the thought swirling around my head until I heard Astrid yelling.
"Hiccup!" Astrid comes running to me. I almost screamed when she did that. When I'm not paying attention, she can very sneaky. I might need to work on my hearing again.
"Oh my Thor Astrid don't do that" I playfully told her.
"Sorry. Anyway good news. Gobber is letting you work with him again. You can start tomorrow if you like" She says with the biggest smile I've ever seen in her face.
"That's amazing" i say with a huge smile. I couldn't be happier. I always enjoy working with Gobber. Sharpening weapons has always kept me relaxed and I always know that I'm helping people in the village. Maybe it'll keep my thoughts at bay for the time being until I figure out a plan to deal with rogue riders if it ever happens.
