Holy damn! A WHOLE chapter of Freddy's POV?! Am I going insane?! /j

~

At the bottom of the stairs, illuminated by Gregory's flashlight and a couple of dim, buzzing light bulbs, was a large open space. A large open space that I recognised...

"Is this..." Ollie lowered her gun and wiped her hand across a dusty poster.

"Fred-Bear's Family Diner..." Gregory read aloud, clutching Pat close to his body. My chest tightened seeing myself on the poster with my friends beside me - well, our original designs. My brown fur stretched tight over my endoskeleton as I posed with a microphone. Foxy was tipping his pirate hat, hook bared as he grinned mischievously. Chica held a little pink cupcake and was wearing her signature 'let's eat' bib. Management promptly scrapped that design feature after the incident...

My eyes dragged themselves over to him.

Bonnie...

His purple fur shone against his red guitar and a large smile was on his face, his ears perked up happily. As my hand came into contact with the poster, my stomach lurched. I had thought long and hard about our deaths after that conversation with Ollie. She had never told us the full story, both for fear of upsetting us and fear of upsetting herself. But I had looked it up. Nobody else wanted to know what had made Ollie so nauseous, but I did. Bonnie had always seemed to remember quite a lot of his previous life. Did he know? I shuddered at the thought of what became of my body as I traced my previous face with one cyan claw, unable to imagine what it would be like to be forced into that suit. I could barely remember how it felt to be that suit; it was so long ago now. But it did always feel... cramped. Cramped and stiff. This new model was much smoother, something I didn't take for granted.

"Are you okay?" A gentle voice asked. I looked over to Ollie, who was wearing a pained expression. This was probably just as hard on her as it was me. She spent a lot of her childhood here, only to discover that children she potentially made friends with were killed. And then to discover that her brother had met the same fate at our next location.

"I'm fine. Just... reminiscing..."

"Me too..." She looked away, her eyes scanning the tables and chairs strewn about the dining area. Although I didn't remember this far back incredibly well, it all felt eerily familiar. I had the urge to climb onto the stage with the lone microphone on its stand, untouched for countless years.

"I miss him."

"I miss him too." She sighed heavily. We were speaking of different 'him's, but the sentiment was the same. Our hands found each other in the darkness. She squeezed tightly. "But at least we have each other."

"That is true. I don't really have an opinion on religion, considering..." I gestured to myself. "But I'll be forever grateful to anyone that may be up there for you getting picked to be our stand-in mechanic. It was the best thing that ever happened to me."

"I couldn't agree more. I used to be so afraid of talking to any of you, and now look at me." Ollie glanced down at our entwined fingers. Suddenly, she shifted onto her tip toes and pressed her lips against my cheek. "Thank you for being so kind when I first started. If it wasn't for you and the others helping me out and showing me how to do everything, I wouldn't have lasted two days, let alone almost two months." My fans hummed loudly.

"Of course-"

"Uh, guys?" We looked towards Gregory, who had his torch pointed towards something we couldn't see. "You might want to check this out..."

"Bonnie?" That tightness in my stomach returned. If I was in my human form, I might have been sick.

"Holy shit, Bonnie!" Ollie let go of my hand, dropping down next to the purple rabbit and examining him with a horrified expression.

Or what was left of him.

His arm was ripped clean off, his legs were broken and had bits of wires and endoskeleton exposed. His casing had multiple rips and tears, the most notable one over his stomach, a gaping hole all the way through. I couldn't bring myself to look at his face. Half of it was missing, nothing but metal and a singular, empty eye on the left side. The right side hardly looked any better; just as broken as the rest of him.

He was... mangled...

"This is Bonnie?" Gregory inhaled sharply, the beam of light shaking slightly. Pat beeped sadly. "What happened... How did he get down here? I-" My eyes flickered over to Ollie. Instead of distraught, she now looked determined. She turned her back to Gregory and me, her hands were busy fiddling with something. After a moment of tense quiet, she reached out to us.

"Gregory, we passed a generator on the way in. Can you attach this wire to it and turn it on?" The boy nodded solemnly and took the wire.

"What are you doing?"

"His battery is still intact, even if it's quite broken. I should- I might be able to... Well, no promises but-" My heart leapt into my throat. I could talk to him! We could bring him back up and save him! Monty was already well established in the band, but maybe one of them would like to give drumming a try? A spark made Ollie jump.

"You really think this'll work?" I breathed as I watched her connect the wire to what was left of Bonnie.

"He'll either turn on or set alight..." She gave a nervous laugh before moving back slightly.

Gregory came back, but nothing had happened yet.

"How long do you think it'll take?" He asked. Pat echoed the sentiment with an impatient buzz.

"I don't know. The generator can't be putting out that much power, and his battery has been dead for a long-" A crackle cut her off. We all tensed, going silent immediately. Bonnie's blank eye lit up, a small pinprick of white. But it was there.

"Bonnie?" I knelt down next to him. There was no response for a second, but when I looked over at Ollie, he responded.

"Fr- Freddy?"

"Oh my God, Bonnie!"

"Beep!"

"It worked! I can't believe it worked!"

"You're a genius!" Gregory and Ollie shared a high-five, both elated as Pat whizzed round in circles.

"Freddy? What are you doing down here?"

"We followed someone down here." I told him, my motors whirring at top speed. I felt dizzy. "We found you and Ollie, one of the mechanics, managed to get you some power." He sat up a little straighter, eyes slowly moving over to the pair.

"Ollie... And who's the little one?"

"I'm Gregory. This is Pat." The bunny's mouth - or what was left of it - cracked up in a small smile.

"Heya kid. How's it?"

"A bit shit, really. Someone's trying to murder me."

"Well that's not ideal." He responded with a chuckle, before peering at Ollie once again. "You seem... familiar to me."

"I do?" She frowned. "I mean... I've worked here for like four years."

"It's not that..."

"I used to come here as a kid. Before..."

"Before we got killed?"

"Yeah..."

"A lot of families stopped coming after that. Maybe I saw you there."

"My brother came to the second restaurant. We always got told we looked alike. Maybe it's that?"

"Maybe." He hummed, closing his remaining eye and leaning his head against the wall. "Was he... Frank?" Ollie's face went pale, but she kept her expression unchanging.

"Yes."

"He told me I was his favourite."

"He did like rabbits a lot..."

"I'm sure he hated them soon after." His eyes clicked back open. "Sorry! That was-"

"No. No, it's alright."

"I'm sorry about Frank. My memories are pretty fuzzy. But I remember all the kids who... well... you know... I remember them all as well as I can. I always tried to hold onto them as much as I could. He was a sweet kid. Shared well with the others." Pressing her lips together, Ollie nodded.

"Is that why you always said hello to me when I first started working here?"

"No. Well, I always knew something was familiar. But you always seemed so tense around us. Plus, I knew how overworked you were, always doing everyone else's jobs. So I tried to be as friendly as possible."

"Thank you. I really appreciate that, even if I didn't seem to. Sorry for ignoring you."

"Nonsense. I knew you meant no harm." He lifted his only working arm and patted her hand.

"What are you doing down here?" I burst, unable to keep silent any longer. "What happened to you? Why did you leave? I-"

"At least he's not in shock anymore." Bonnie smiled at Ollie before shifting to face me. "I'm sorry for leaving you behind, Fred-Bear." My face warmed as I heard his affectionate nickname for the first time in almost three years.

"I should hope so." I replied.

"Don't be like that." He frowned. "It's not like I had a choice."

"What happened?" I repeated.

"Monty hadn't been around for too long, and I hadn't seen him properly yet. So I thought I'd go introduce myself and spend some time with him. I looked everywhere for him and ended up in Gator Golf. Suddenly, someone attacked me. I don't know who it was. One of my wires to my battery was severed, as our mechanic probably just saw." He tilted his head to Ollie, who nodded again. "Monty came running out to help me but it was too late. He tried to explain, to get me some help. But whoever was there tasered him and he passed out. I couldn't see at this point, but I heard a voice. A woman's voice. She was telling Monty that he destroyed me, that he was dangerous, that I would be decommissioned and it was all his fault. It was like some sort of... hypnotising."

"That must have been Vanny!" Gregory cut in. "She's that bitch that wants us dead. She hypnotised the other three animatronics and they attacked us. Ollie almost lost her arm!"

"So this whole time, Monty though he was the reason Bonnie disappeared. And he never told any of us... And that's a little dramatic Gregory, but yes. Vanny did that." Bonnie lifted his shoulder, bringing a few wires and nothing else up with it.

"We could have been matching."

"At least your humour isn't broken." I snorted.

"You love it." He smiled cheekily, seeming much more alive than he did before. I opened my mouth to reply, but suddenly became very aware of Gregory's eyes on me, and of Ollie's presence.

"That phrase makes him freeze up, I'd avoid it if I were you. I said it earlier and almost broke him." The boy said with a casual shrug.

"He's always been easily flustered. I used to try to distract him on stage without anyone realising to see how much of a reaction I could get. Once he overheated so much we had to pause the show." I grimaced at the embarrassing memory, but thought back on it fondly. Things were so much simpler back then. But as I glanced between Bonnie and Ollie, a bittersweet taste filled my mouth.

"You were right, I do like Bonnie." She laughed. "You're a cool guy."

"I'm even cooler when-" Suddenly he stopped and started spluttering. "My fans are broken. Being charged like this isn't doing my systems any good."

"Why don't you turn off while you charge and we can come get you after?" Gregory suggested. Bonnie slumped down slightly, his mechanics becoming noisy.

"I can't do that."

"Why not?" I cried. "We can take you back! You could go to human form until John starts his shift. Or Ollie could try to fix you now-"

"Freddy." A firm voice and a soft hand on my cheek stopped me. "I'm not going back up there. Everyone has moved on."

"I haven't." My whispered voice cracked.

"It looks to me like you're almost there." He responded slyly, flicking his eyes over to Ollie, who looked as if she didn't know what to do with herself while we were talking, both curious and respectful of our privacy.

"I'm trying to. I just feel so guilty..."

"Guilty and nervous and insecure. And the exact same as always. You haven't changed a single bit, Freddy Fazbear." His laugh was weaker now.

"How do I stop? I want you back. I... I feel very strongly towards Olive... But we were together for so long. And then you just disappeared! And now I have the chance to bring you home-"

"That place is not my home." He spat. "It's not yours either, and you know it."

"It's the closest we have."

"They say that home is where the heart is." Bonnie's hand dropped limply to his side and his eyes dimmed. "Your heart is with our friends. And Ollie, it seems. My heart is with those children. With Frank, and with every other kid that came but never left. You know that."

"Just because I know it, doesn't mean I want to accept it."

"I know." He closed his eyes and thought for a moment. "There's two people that live down here. I think that one of them is using some of my parts. I've been jostled about from time to time and my wires connected. I've heard him be called Saviour by the woman. He murdered a lot of people. He murdered us. The woman... She killed Monty and the daycare assistants-"

"She killed my twins?" Ollie shrieked. "I'll fucking-" Gregory clamped his hand over her mouth, not wanting anyone to hear us. Bonnie raised an amused eyebrow.

"You like those two?" She nodded. "I didn't meet Moonrise, but I spoke to Sundrop a good few times. That was back when they left the daycare more often."

"I'm going to-" Ollie said, muffled by Gregory's hand. I shook my head.

"We'll give her to the proper authorities and she will pay for her crimes." Ollie narrowed her eyes and lifted her gun. I understood her message perfectly. 'Not if I get to her first'.

"Hm. I see you have a type." Bonnie commented, shutting his eye again and dimming the other even more. Ollie blushed and Gregory pulled a disgusted face.

"First I have to deal with these two being all gross, and now you too?" He groaned. "Don't tell me you dated him too? Next it'll be Monty..."

"I should hope not."

"We aren't gross."

"We aren't dating." Bonnie, Ollie, and I answered in unison. When they all looked at me, I added. "Well, not officially. I was hoping to ask-"

"Let's think about the semantics later." Ollie said warmly. I didn't miss her glancing at Bonnie.

"You two seem like you'd be cute together." The bunny said. "I'm happy Freddy has someone looking out for him. I mean, I'm sure the others do too but... You know what I mean."

"I feel a little bad talking about this in front of you..." She frowned.

"Don't be silly. I loved Freddy very much. I still do. But we had our time together. I want him to be happy with someone else. He can't stay strung up on me forever." He smiled.

"I wish I could be happy with both of you." I admitted. It hurt to think of leaving Bonnie behind again, but Ollie and I had become something special.

"We don't always get what we want. But I can have something I've wanted for a long time. Peace. I don't want to die and be reborn again and again. I loved being Bonnie the Bunny. But I want a real death."

"I understand..." But it didn't mean I liked the decision. I wrapped my large arms around his broken frame, holding him tight and close.

"Go defeat those bitches for me, okay?"

"We promise." Ollie replied thickly.

"You're the coolest rabbit in this place." Gregory's bottom lip quivered as he leant against Ollie.

"I'll do it, don't you worry."

"If you say you'll do it, I believe you will. You've never let me down before. So don't blow things with Ollie and start now, okay?" He hummed light-heartedly, his voice growing quiet and crackly. "You'll need to switch me off soon before my battery breaks. Can you... Can you take me apart after? Just to make sure?"

"Of course. Anything for you, Bonnie." Ollie replied solemnly.

"You're a good person. Take care of him for me."

"You didn't even need to ask."

"Thank you. I hope things work out with those two bastards."

"Me too." Gregory sniffed.

"And you..." His arm made its way over my shoulder, hanging loosely. "I love you, Fred-Bear. But I'm moving on. You gotta do the same thing now."

"I love you too, Bon. I'll miss you forever, but I'll do my best. For you."

"I know..." His voice trailed off, crackling for a moment before cutting off. He slumped down and his arm fell. But I made no attempt to move.

We sat in our places silently for a few moments. I could feel Bonnie's battery getting hotter and hotter, but I couldn't bare to move away. Once Gregory's shaking breaths had grown stable once again, I heard Ollie's footsteps, a click, and the low humming of the generator stopped. A small hand pressed against my shoulder.

"You have to get up..." Gregory whispered, his voice still thick from his tears.

"I know." I whispered back. I was just glad that, in this form, I couldn't cry. Or else I'd be in hysterics. The pair waited patiently for me to catch the will to sit up. Once I had moved back and given Ollie a nod of approval, she began dismantling him.

Each of her movements were gentle and deliberate. She worked slowly but efficiently. Soon, Bonnie's parts were neatly arranged by the wall. As she finished, I could have sworn a tiny 'thank you' echoed around the room. Ollie looked around for a second but said nothing, so I kept silent too.

"Let's have a moment. For him. A toast, if you will." She said quietly, raising an imaginary glass. "To Bonnie."

"To Bonnie." Gregory rubbed his nose on his grubby sleeve and copied her actions. Pat rocked back and forth, imitating us as best he could with a soft beep. I silently raised my own imaginary glass.

To Bonnie.

My friends: *beg for me to put Bonnie in the book*

Me, a being of chaos: bet

What do y'all think of the Bonnie reveal? The next chapter isn't too far from being finished so hopefully I won't take forever to put it out. Probably give it a little under a week so I can get a good start on the ending chapter as well :)
