☆ Like a Princess ☆

The picture above is Olive's outfit. My friends said she looks like a MILF lmao. I'm not sure what Wattpad will do to the quality of the drawing, so I'll post it on my Ko-fi too at: https://ko-fi.com/i/IL4L07VDL2

"Hello, hello, hello, hello." I smiled lazily at the animatronics as I walked in. They greeted me happily while I checked the tablet. "Well, there's nothing major that needs doing, so I'll be doing all this little stuff at the end of my shift instead of the beginning."

"What?" Chica whined. "Why?"

"There's tonnes of inventory stuff to do tonight. I won't bore you with the details, but it's super important that I get it done asap."

"Well what are we supposed to do until then?" Roxy huffed.

"The same thing you usually do once I've finished with you all?"

"I usually stay with you." Freddy pointed out. "I can help with your inventory things."

"Sorry, Freddy. It's all paperwork and box ticking. Nothing you can help with." His ears drooped dejectedly. Monty put a friendly arm around his shoulders.

"Why don't you come play golf with me?" The bear perked up again. "I'll kick your ass, Fazbear!"

"In your dreams, Gator! And mind your language!" The pair ran out of the room, gesting each other and laughing like young boys. A dreamy smile on my face at their antics, I made my way to my little office next door.

"Meet me back here at about half-four."

"You got it!" Chica saluted me goofily before dragging Roxy out, probably heading to the kitchen.

Great. Time to get to work.

~

"Boys! Ollie needs us!"

"Just one more hole!"

"Monty, get your ass over here right now!" Chica and Roxy had come to get us, much to Monty's despair. He threw down his putter, growling as he stormed away.

"What's got his tail in a twist?" Chica asked me.

"We've tied in every hole so far. One, two, one, three, two. This was supposed to be our decider."

"Oooh, gosh. Let's hope he doesn't stay too mad. He'll get in trouble if he breaks his room again!"

"I'm sure he'll be fine." We laughed, entering the repair room to Monty and Roxy bickering, as usual. But all noise stopped when the door to Ollie's office slammed open, revealing her new look.

"Phew! Who knew paperwork could be such a workout! But- why are you all staring at me?"

Her usually wild hair was smooth and shiny, pulled tightly into large rollers. Her makeup was half-done. And, most eye-catchingly, her usual work top was unbuttoned, revealing a tight fitting top in dark magenta with a scandalously low neckline. My eyes had darted over her form, taking it all in, but they seemed to be stuck now, staring at her exposed collarbone as I got warmer and warmer.

"That doesn't look like the uniform!" Roxy grinned teasingly.

"Don't tell Sean!" She giggled, doing her buttons back up halfway so that any oil or grease didn't get onto her outfit. Only then could I drag my eyes away from her.

"What's the occasion? Did you really get all dressed up for little ol' me?" Monty flicked his tail back and forth and I felt myself shudder in annoyance.

"You wish, green giant." She elbowed him playfully, and once the alligator dissolved into laughter, I relaxed a little. Why was I getting so tense? Monty flirts with everyone. Maybe I was just screwed in too tight or something. "I'll let you know what I'm up to later as long as it goes the way I want it to."

"That's mysterious!" Chica beamed. "I wanna know now!" Ollie said nothing more, only getting to work on us all. While she worked on me, I kept my eyes away, knowing that looking at her would give me a... view.

"Ugh, how did you get cake inside your suit?" She groaned, wiping at me with a cloth.

"Oh, well I was taking it out of my stomach hatch as a surprise, and one of the children knocked into me."

"Of course." She hummed, leaning slightly backwards to make sure she'd gotten it all. Without thinking, my gaze dropped down at the movement. With our height difference, I could see much more than necessary. There was a slight shimmer wherever she was exposed from some makeup, drawing my focus across her smooth skin and-

"Ah-ha!" Luckily, her exclamation snapped me out of my trance. "There's a wire right next to your cooling system that isn't pulled tight enough! Your fans get so loud because it moves around and the blades hit it!"

"O-oh. Good catch." I stammered, staring back at the wall next to me.

"Something wrong?"

"No." my response was a little too quick, but she didn't point it out. I could hear my friends sniggering beside me.

"If you insist. Stay very still. I don't think you'll want blood in your suit."

"I'd be more concerned about your fingers."

"No need." The noise level in the room dropped considerably. I suppressed a shiver as she tucked the wire into something to keep it away from the cooling system. Why did her touch affect me so?

"It's impossible to tell that you haven't trained for this. You're an amazing mechanic."

"I'm nothing compared to the others."

"Don't be silly!" Chica piped up. "They might do the bigger repairs, but you have a great attention to detail!"

"Yeah, like cleaning my glasses. They were forever smudged before you started working with us." Monty added.

"I guess it's pretty cool that you're careful with us and that you help fix my hair." Roxanne sniffed, never one for compliments.

"Aw! Thanks, you guys!"

"No problem!"

"Anything for you, babe."

"Yeah, you're welcome, I guess."

"Say, do you... Do you want to go to the arcades?" I was so nervous to ask such a simple question.

"I can't. It's almost the end of my shift, remember?"

"Oh. Right..." My ears drooped. A knock came at the door, and we all pretended to power down and Alex walked in, giving a low whistle.

"Miss girl, you have a hot date later or what?" Ollie laughs, and I noted her lack of a reply. So did Alex. "I thought you-"

"Shh! I already know what you're going to say!"

"Because it's true?"

"I'll slap you into next week."

"I know you will." He gave a lopsided grin. "Anyways, I just wanted to say that I'm moving to the day shift." She gasped.

"Traitor!"

"Sorry! It's an order from high up, apparently. Some chick called Vanessa is taking over my job as the night guard. A newbie, so have fun."

"Ugh, great. I hope she won't be clingy like the last newbie I was with. I'll miss you so much!"

"You'll have to get your own coffee now!"

"I'll never survive without you!" The pair were holding onto each other, dramatically pretending to cry at their loss.

"I know you won't! I'm going to miss you tonnes." They started laughing as Alex pulled her in for a hug. That feeling of bitterness was starting to come a little too familiar lately.

"Aw. I'll miss you more." She nuzzled into his shoulder and I wondered if she looked so at peace when we hugged.

"What was that noise?"

"What noise?"

"It sounded like a growl..." Ollie scanned the room, her eyes settling on me.

"You must be hearing things." After a few minutes discussing the new guard and the best way to quickly show her the ropes, Alex left and we could all go back to normal.

"You okay there, Freddy, baby?" Monty looked over his glasses at me.

"I don't know what you're talking about." I replied flatly.

"Where are you going?" Chica asked Ollie as she pushed my hatch shut and made her way to her office.

"You're all done! But I need you to stay here and rate my outfit!" The door closed behind her.

"You really need to sort out your feelings." Roxy raised her brow at me. "You won't acknowledge them, but you clearly get jealous of other people being affectionate with her."

"Jealous?"

"Well if you literally growling at that poor gay man who is Ollie's best friend isn't enough, I always see you twitching when Monty calls her baby. Even though he does it to all of us."

"He's gay?" Monty grabbed Chica, thankfully giving me an escape. "How do you know?"

"He came into the kitchen on the phone to a guy while I was in there eating pizza. They broke up and it was super sad. Why are you so interested?"

"Oh, you know, no reason." He rubbed the back of his neck.

"Do you think that Alex is cute?"

"Shut up, Freddy! We were talking about your love life, not mine!" Everyone laughed at his embarrassment, and he reluctantly let himself smile along.

"Okay, which lipstick do you think will go best?" Ollie asked, opening the door with her elbow as she struggled to put in a large, dangly earring. Instead of replying, we all stared at her with open mouths. How had she finished getting ready so fast? And how did she look so...

Her hair was half tied up, half down in big bouncy curls, her dark eyeshadow was now finished off with big false eyelashes, and her work boots were replaced with a pair of dainty black heels. The 'top' was actually a dress that gracefully hugged the curves of her waist and kissed her ankles, breaking into a slit up to her thigh when she moved. Suddenly, I was frozen in place, not wanting to look away from her figure.

"Well, well!" Roxy broke the silence. "You scrub up nice." Chica started chattering quicker than my ears could keep up as she turned Ollie this way and that to inspect every inch of her. The neckline was low, but the back dropped even lower. She looked better than I'd ever seen her, and that made me feel something that I'd never felt before. It was scary, but I welcomed it nonetheless.

"Looking hot, mama!" Monty fanned himself with a hand.

"Oh, stop teasing!" Chica slapped the back of his head. "You look gorgeous!"

"What do you think, Freddy?"

~

Roxy pushed Freddy forward so that he was standing right in front of me, still silent and wide-eyed. When he didn't speak for a second, I started to feel a little self conscious. He took my earring and gently swept my hair back with his large hands, somehow putting the accessory in first try. Such a simple action felt so intimate, especially when his blue eyes were so warm and his smile was so inviting.

"You're stunning. You look like a princess." He said in a low voice, as if he only wanted me to hear.

"Thank you." I breathed, the sound of my racing heart filling my ears. His hand, which was still by my ear, caressed my cheek so lightly that I could have imagined it. His touch was cold, but it made my skin feel hot.

"I think you should go with this one." He pointed to the nude lipstick in my hand. I was gripping it and another colour option so tightly that my knuckles were turning pale. All I could do was nod. When I finally stepped away, I remembered that the other three animatronics had been there the whole time, watching silently with baited breath.

"What do you think?" I asked weakly, holding the lipstick bullet up to the girls.

"Yes, that one for sure." Chica nodded.

"Freddy sure knows how to pick 'em." Roxy added pointedly, earning a glare from the bear. Once I'd applied the makeup with shaky hands, I collected my things and got ready to leave, giving the four a quick visual once-over.

"Good luck with your not-date!" Chica waved at me.

"I hope he isn't a total ass." Roxy added helpfully.

"Well I don't think you need a new boyfriend when you have us." Monty elbowed Freddy playfully. "But, y'know. Eat some good food and have fun."

"Have a good time. And be safe!" Freddy added, a concerned look on his face.

"I can look after myself, don't worry. Thanks everyone. See you tonight!" I gave one last big smile and left.

Of course, my not-date was a date. The guy was sweet, some work colleague an old friend, Molly, set me up with. There was nothing wrong with him, per-se. Only, I kept wishing his voice was a little deeper and less husky. And I prefer brunettes to blond, really. And every time I looked into his cocoa eyes, I found myself wanting them to be forget-me-not blue.

"You seem distracted." He eventually pointed out.

"Oh, sorry. I'm just a bit new to the dating scene. It's been a while, y'know."

"No worries, darling." He gave an easy smile and topped up my wine glass. On paper, we were a perfect match. He liked music, he was smart, he had a good sense of humour, and he even worked similar hours to me, meaning we could have our romantic 'dinner' at 7am. But it was just... wrong. There wasn't the spark between us that Molly had described having with her fiance. By the end of the date, it was like I was simply following the motions.

"You're wonderful, Nathan. But I feel more friendly towards you than platonic."

"I'm quite glad you said that." His laugh was grating. "I think we should just be friends. I'm happy to have spent such a nice evening with you, though."

"Me too. It was a great time. And you're a wonderful cook!"

"Thank you! I got that recipe off of my mother." We tapped our glasses together one last time before I gulped down the rest of my rosé and ended the night.

As I looked at myself in the mirror while taking off the makeup I had quickly put on between chunks of boring and monotonous paperwork, I thought back over the date and wondered why I felt so empty. My mind wandered back to the animatronics, and my hand brushed over the cheek that Freddy had so carefully held. After giving myself a few moments to daydream, cherishing the memory of him saying I looked like a princess, I pulled myself together and continued with my routine. I was just thinking about him because I was tipsy and he was always so nice to me.

No other reason.
