High School AU Part 1
This is an AU(Alternate Universe): basically everything is the same except for no Batman and superheroes, plus no super villains.
Alssooooo, I don't know why I feel like clarifying this but Jon doesn't have glasses in this because he doesn't actually need them, and he's not Superboy.
Plus, Jon and Damian are the same age.
"This is Jon, he just joined the school today, I trust that you'll all help him if he needs anything," said Mrs. Quinzel.
Nobody paid any attention, but still nodded with bored expressions.
"Jon, why don't you go take that seat next to Damian," said Mrs. Quinzel.
She pointed at a desk right next to the Damian Wayne.
Since she has let them pick their seats at the beginning of the year, obviously Damian had isolated himself from everyone else. He hated the thought of people being next to him, especially his idiotic piers.
Even though Damian had the worst attitude ever, he was still among the most popular people in Gotham High. This was partially because of his good looks and partially because of his money. After all, his father was Bruce Wayne, the prince of Gotham.
So yes, many had tried to sit next to him, but he ordered them to go away. Many things like this had happened to him. For example, he was also the school's number one crush. Literally, every single girl had a crush on him. At least twenty girls a month had confessed their feelings to him, but he always rejected them.
Damian secretly knew exactly what he wanted. He wanted someone that would love Damian for himself, not his money or looks, or anything else. He honestly didn't even care if that person was a guy or girl.
He snapped back into reality when he realized that the new kid was sitting next to him. Damian shot him an ice cold glare. Jon returned him with a smile on his face.
Damian scowled at him. Who was this guy? He couldn't just sit next to Damian! And why did he just smile at him! Everytime Damian shot his glare, people cowered in fear.
Jon gave him another bright smile before paying attention to the teacher.
"So let's start our Science unit on Psychology today, my favorite! Open up your text books to page 52," said Mrs. Quinzel.
Eveyone slowly followed along. After about five minutes, Mrs. Quinzel's phone rang. She stopped her lesson and picked it up. She sighed and off her head.
"I'm needed in the office, can I trust you guys to stay alone in the classroom for a couple of minutes?" asked Mrs. Quinzel.
Most of the students suddenly perked up and nodded their heads. The teacher smiled and walked out of the room.
And as soon as she shut the door, everyone began to get up and start talking to each other. Well, obviously everyone except Damian. This was the time where he would pull out one of his novels that nobody else understood. He pulled out a novel and started to read. Suddenly, someone tapped on his shoulder.
He turned and saw Jon looking at him. "What do you want?" growled Damian.
"Erm, I was just um, wondering if you could help me?" asked Jon, sheepishly. He showed Damian his schedule and looked at him with pleading eyes.
"What do you want? It's a schedule," asked Damian, with annoyance.
"That's the thing... Where I come from, we just had one teacher the whole day," said Jon.
Damian growled. He did not want to explain to anyone what a schedule was. He sighed before explaining. "The day is basically split up into seven periods, math, English, science, history, P.E., lunch, and you get to pick your last one. You just go to a different classroom for every single class."
Jon looked in thought for a moment, trying to comprehend the information. His face suddenly beamed when he understood what Damian was saying.
"Wow! That's so awesome!" exclaimed Jon.
Damian shot him the most puzzled look ever. Wasn't that how all schools were? He put his book down and stared at Jon.
Jon looked at him, innocently. "What?"
"How the hell do you not know how high school works?" asked Damian.
Jon shrugged. "Like I said, where I come from, we just had one teacher the whole day."
"Then, where are you from?"
"Smallville!(Ik that's not where they live, but idc)"
"What is that?"
Jon stuck his tongue out at him. "It's not a 'that'. It's the best town ever! I lived on a farm with my mom and dad!"
"A farm?" asked Damian. Jon was unlike Damian had ever met.
"Oh yah, it was so awesome! I got to feed the chickens everyday and my dad even taught me how to milk a cow!"
Damian scrunched his eyebrows in disgust. "You have milked a cow before?"
"Yes! It is so cool! Trust me," said Jon. He had a look of pride on his face. "But the best part about the farm was the stars. You could a billion at night! And don't even get me started on all the fireflies..."
Jon let out a small sigh.
"You miss your farm, correct?" asked Damian.
"Yah, I do. But Gotham's not, erm that bad. I just have to look on the bright side!"
Damian almost chuckled at Jon's behavior. "Trust me farmboy, your gonna hate Gotham."
Jon nodded his head. "I'm sure I'll love it! Now, let's have a proper introduction, my mom says it's best when you meet new people. Hi! I'm Jonathan Kent, but you can just call me Jon!" Jon stuck his hand out for Damian to shake.
Damian waited for a second before taking his hand. "Damian Wayne."
This is where Damian expected Jon to drop the whole "innocent farmer" get-up and ask Damian about how much money he had, since his last name was Wayne.
Because that's what everyone at the school asked Damian.
"Wow, Wayne! As is Wayne Enterprises!"
Damian slightly cringed, waiting for the rest of Jon's reaction. He already knew that Jon would be like the rest of them.
"That's cool, but trust me, I would take living on a farm than being a billionaire any day."
Damian looked at Jon in shock. Well, that was not what he was expecting, at all.
"I told you about my life, so tell me about yours. Do you live in a really epic mansion?" asked Jon.
Damian smiled a little before talking. He then knew that Jon was different. Far different, than anyone he had ever met. He knew that Jon wouldn't be the type of person to talk to Damian just because he was a billionaire. "Yes, I do. It is a very grand manor that has been in the family for generations and generations."
"Do you have any siblings?"
Damian growled in disgust. "I have three idiotic adopted brothers."
Jon smiled. "Come on, it can't be that bad."
"Trust me when I say this, you would rather be tortured by an assassin, run over by a car, thrown in a volcano, and then killed, rather than live with my siblings."
Jon started laughing at Damian's comment. For some reason, this brought a new feeling into Damian's heart. He felt a small sense of pride that he was able to get Jon to laugh. He immediately dismissed the thought, he hated all people. Except for maybe his dad, and Pennyworth, and maybe Grayson.
"Your so nice to your family," said Jon, sarcastically. "Are they older or younger than you?"
"Hey, you would be saying the same things if you had to live with assholes I call my family."
This caused Jon to laugh even more.
"They're all older than me."
"Your lucky Damian, I wish I had siblings. You know, someone to look up too, someone to protect you," said Jon.
Damian snorted. "Grayson has slept with more girls than I can count. Todd has probably taken more drugs and smoked more than human body can even alllow. And Drake is just, Drake is just annoying."
"Those are they're names?"
"Those are they're previous last names, their real names are Dick, Jason, and Tim."
Jon snickered at Dick's name, but turned it into a fake cough. It was a pretty sad attempt to cover his laugh.
Damian raised an eyebrow at him. He was pretty used to his elder brother's name being laughed at. Most people made an inappropriate joke at this point.
Jon, however, didn't question it. "Why do you call them by their last names?"
Damian shrugged. "So, why did you move to Gotham?"
"Well, my dad got a job as a reporter here. He used to be one, before we moved to the farm. He also wanted a 'better education' for me," huffed Jon.
"Why did your parents move to a farm?" asked Damian.
"I guess they just wanted a break from regular life. But this is my first time ever living in a city!" exclaimed Jon.
"Have you ever actually seen a skyscraper before?"
"Not really... I was hoping I would be able to see them in Gotham."
Suddenly, the bell rang. Both boys put away their books and continued to talk.
"Well I guess the teacher didn't come back," said Jon, with a shrug.
"She probably had a family emergency or something?" questioned Damian.
When they were out the door, Jon waved good-bye to Damian.
"Well, I'm off to C-15!" exclaimed Jon. He proceeded to start walking to the left of the school.
Damian sighed before grabbing Jon's backpack and pulling him back.
"You do realize that the C wing is in the opposite direction."
Jon looked at him confused. "I'm pretty sure that it's this way." Jon pointed to the left.
"I have been at this school for three years, the C wing is that way." Damian pointed to the right.
"Ummmm, I still think it's that way." Jon was about to walk left, but Damian grabbed his hand and dragged him in the opposite direction.
"Damiiiiii... I'm gonna be late because of you!"
Damian growled at him. "I am taking you to the correct classroom, Jon."
Everyone gave them weird stares in the halls. They had never seen Damian Wayne walking with someone, much less grabbing onto someone's hand.
After a couple minutes of Jon's protests, they arrived at the correct classroom.
"I'm telling you Damian-"
Jon was cut off when he realized that they were at the right place.
"Not so talkative now, are we Kent," said Damian, with a smug look on his face.
"Thanks," mumbled Jon.
"What was that? I couldn't hear you," said Damian, smirking.
"Oh be quiet," huffed Jon.
"Where's your next class?"
"Ummmmm, F-18."
"Oh, me too. I guess I'll see you there," said Damian.
"Wait, this school has an F wing?"
Damian sighed.
"Oh god Damian, your gonna be late, I'll see you there!"
Jon ushered him away and walked into his classroom.
Damian walked to his next class and sat in his seat. He immediately felt something in his stomach. It didn't feel good at all. He felt...
Loneliness.
He gritted his teeth. He wouldn't feel that way if Jon hadn't been assigned to sit next to him. He immediately began to regret talking to Jon.
But that's when he realized that when he was with Jon, he no longer felt secluded. He, in fact, felt something warm in his stomach. He realized that his short moments with Jon had given him an experience on what a true friend should be.
He decided that he liked the way he felt around Jon. The world just seemed to be a little brighter. He realized that Jon was the only person that he could consider a friend.
