Christmas
So if anyone of you read the DC Rebirth Christmas Special issue, you will kind of know what this chapter is based on. If you didn't, no worries! You will still understand the story! It is basically a little bit copied from the comic book, and my take on what happened, plus obviously some of my own plot. Enjoy!
---
The snow fell, lightly and softly. It continued to fall as Jon stared out the window. He noticed children playing and laughing, without a care in the world. He noticed families in the distance, singing and talking.
He stared into the snow, longingly. Oh how he just wanted to run out, and simply play. Even though he had recently took up the mantle to Superboy, he was beginning to feel weak. He felt like he was drowning, and there was no way he could swim back up. He felt like the weight of the world rested on his tiny shoulders.
But who could blame him? After all, he was just a ten year old boy. He deserved to live a happy and normal life, filled with love. He didn't ask for any of this. He didn't ask for his childhood to be ripped from his grasp. He just wanted to feel normal again, for just a little bit...
He tightly clutched the small phone in his hands as he stared out at the children again. A small tear slowly rolled down his cheek. He was purely jealous.
He opened his mouth to ask the young Robin the question on his mind. He pulled the phone closer and began to speak, in a low voice.
"Hey, Damian? Do you ever wish you could just be a normal kid and like...play?"
---
Damian sighed as he finally found it. The new "Monkey-E-Monsters" game. He could still feel Jon's words ringing in his head.
Do you ever wish you could be a normal kid and like...play?
Damian was all to familiar with that feeling. Every single time he looked at a normal family, he felt a knife jab through his heart. He knew that his father, Alfred, and brothers loved him dearly, but it wasn't the same.
The sad truth was, he had never been a normal kid. He had been trained since the day he was brought into the world to become a killing machine. He had worked so hard to achieve exactly what his grandfather wanted, no matter the cost.
His childhood was nothing like Jon's. Jon's was filled with caring fathers and smiling mothers. Damian's was filled with blood, violence, and no happy family.
Nonetheless, he had felt the sadness radiate off Jon's voice through the phone. He knew that Jon was probably feeling the stress of the hero-life, so Damian knew exactly what he needed.
Something Damian never had.
A friend.
Damian ran up to the last interactive video game and snatched it. He looked up and smirked when he realized that Clark Kent happened to be going for the same one. (Ok, just a note! In the comics, his name is Jon Smith. This is bcuz of a bunch of new Superman shit. But I'm just gonna keep his as Jon Kent.)
He assumed that Jon's father was out to get his son one. He smiled smugly at Mr. Kent.
"Faster than a speeding bullet, but not faster than Damian Wayne. I've been taught to let nothing get in the way of that which I desire, in other words...You snooze, you lose, Mr. Kent."
Damian walked out the store, leaving a baffled Mr. Kent behind. Now, Clark had assumed that Damian wanted the toy for himself, because Bruce had said that Damian had wanted one as well.
Boy was he wrong.
Damian quickly loaded the gift into his car. Well, more like the car that he had stolen from his father. He started the engine and began to drive home. He was already feeling excited. Jon and him had been talking about how they wanted the new Monkey-E-Monsters game for quite sometime. Actually, more like Jon was talking non-stop, while Damian tried to hide his true feelings. He was honestly hyped. Video-games were one of the few, "childish" things he enjoyed.
He could already imagine Jon's beautiful face, glowing with happiness. He could imagine his sky blue eyes, filled with joy. Damian slightly blushed when he realized the thoughts he was having, again.
He had acknowledged the fact that he had liked Jon, a long time ago.
Correction, he was in love with Jon Kent. From his blithe attitude, to his adorable personality. From the way he acted like a little child, to the way he argued with Damian. He had just simply fell for Superboy, hard. He didn't really tell anyone though. Not because he was gay, but because he was scared. He wasn't supposed to have any romantic feelings whatsoever, for anyone. He was trained to be a statue, emotionless.
He sighed at his fucked up life and continued the drive home.

"It's time to be done with all this culturally mandated pretense. It's time...for presents."
Bruce and Damian had come over to the Kent's house for Christmas dinner. Damian had been pretty excited to finally give Jon his present.
Jon jumped out his seat and ran to the living room, with Damian walking calmly behind him.
"It's Christmas Eve, just one present each! And no super-leaping in the house!" yelled Lois, while cleaning up the kitchen.
Clark walked in, along with Bruce. Jon began to open up a present. Clark sheepishly rubbed his back. "Jon I just wanted you to know. I tried. I really did. I'm sorry there's no-"
"Monkey-E-Monsters! Aw yeah!" yelled Jon. Damian smiled at Jon's awestruck face. He had achieved his goal. All throughout dinner, Jon had seemed a little...dull. Now, Damian could feel the happiness radiate off of him.
He quickly returned to his stoic face. "Yes. I figured you could benefit from some strategic training and-"
He was cut off by Jon hugging him. He slightly blushed at the contact, but returned the hug. "Thank you," whispered Jon. Damian could feel his breath against his skin and blushed even harder. Oh god, Jon had no idea what he was doing to Damian.
Jon pulled back and began to open up the game.
"Damian, we have to leave in about...25 minutes," said Bruce.
Damian nodded his head. "Okay father."
Bruce and Clark walked outside to have a chat, as Jon tried to open up the present. He struggled for a couple minutes as Damian continued to stare at him. Jon cleared his throat. "A little help?"
Damian snickered. "So you can probably destroy a plane, but you fail to open a simple toy?"
Jon scowled at him. "Fine, I'll just go get scissors."
Damian waited for him to get up off the floor.
"Can you get them, I'm too tired," whined Jon. Damian smirked at him.
"Nope."
Jon scowled at him again before getting up to go get scissors. As soon as he was sure that Jon was gone, Damian got up and opened the whole present. He then plugged it into Jon's TV. He grabbed a controller and sat on the couch, and patiently waited for Jon to come.
After a couple of minutes, Jon ran into the room, panting. "You wouldn't believe how long that took Damian-"
He stared when he realized that Damian had already set up the whole thing.
"What? Johnny boy," teased Damian, with the nickname that he knew Jon hated.
Jon pouted at him. "You made me get up for no reason?"
Damian smiled smugly at him.
"I'm going to fry you with my laser eyes," muttered Jon. He sat down and grabbed a controller.
Both boys stared at the screen while the game started. Jon selected the "multiplayer" option, and they both began to play. The objective of the game was too kill all the monsters, which were controlled by evil monkeys. Of course, the game got more in depth with coins and upgardes and other stuff. On multiplayer, whoever could kill the most monsters would win. You could also kill the other player, to slow them down, but it didn't really do anything.
"Ready to lose, Kent."
"I'm gonna take you down Damian!" shrieked Jon. The game started and both boys were yelling at each other whle trying to kill as many mosters as they could. Jon glanced at the count and realized that he was two points behind Damian, and they only had ten seconds left. He growled and softly smirked when he came up with a plan. He had, in fact, noticed how Damian blushed every time they touched.
He leanded in close and pecked Damian on the cheek. Damian dropped his control and blushed the color red. He gave Jon a flustered expression. Jon smirked as he won the game.
"Take that Damian!" cheered Jon.
Damian still stayed red and touched the spot that Jon had kissed. Jon laughed at him as Damian stared at him.
"That's not fair, you...cheated," mumbled Damian.
Jon gave him an innocent look. "I don't recall any cheating, just a small kiss."
Damian glared at him. Jon was teasing him to the point where he wanted to punch a wall. He smirked with an idea. "Two can play at that game Kent."
He slowly crawled upon Jon on the couch and stared down at the boy. It was Jon's turn to be all flustered. He turned red when realized the position they were in.
He gulped and looked away from Damian's face. "What...are-re..you doing-g?" asked Jon.
"What? Scared to look at me Jon?"
Jon took this as a challenge and stared Damian straight into the eyes. He gasped and slightly blushed when he looked into Damain's sharp and intelligent green eyes. Damian smiled smugly and leaned closer.
Jon felt his hot breath tickle his skin and he blushed even harder. "You know Kent, you shouldn't just lead me on like that." And with that, Damian passionately began to kiss Jon. Jon slowly started to kiss back and smiled. He never thought that Damian Wayne, the fourth Robin, would ever like him back.
They both slowly pulled back and stared at each other.
"Did we just?"
"Yes," replied Damian, back to his stoic face. Jon blushed and smiled again at Damian. Surprisingly, Damian gave him a small smile back.
"Thank you," whispered Jon.
"For what?"
"For, for just being there. I kinda felt like I couldn't be a kid anymore, but luckily I have you. You really helped me feel normal. Thanks, for just being my friend."
Damian growled and leaned in. "You are welcome, but don't you dare ever call me your friend again."
Jon gave him a confused look. He thought Damian was his best friend.
"I am now your boyfriend," whispered Damian, seductively. Jon blushed at the word and nodded his head.
"Good," said Damian.
"Time to go Damian!" yelled Bruce from outiside. Damian smiled at Jon one last time before exiting the room, leaving a blushing and flustered Superboy behind.
