Chapter 3
First there was darkness. She heard beeping, but she couldn't place it. Slowly, feeling came back to her. She was strapped to something that was so soft, it was unearthly. She hoped she was not dead. With tremendous effort, she opened her eyes.
Let their be light! And there was light.
The white light almost blinded her. Everything was white. Slowly she noticed a dull, throbbing pain on her back and forearms, and with it, everything came back to her. The demons, the pain, the blood, and finally, her salvation. She could have sworn the tall man looked like Sam Winchester, and as soon as she thought of that, he was there, by her side, looking like a concerned puppy, tears of relief flowing down his face. The sense of happiness was so overpowering that she fainted again.
She passed through states of consciousness and unconsciousness, and every time she awoke, either Sam or Dean was in the room. Her nurse told her that she was tired of telling them to leave. When Alexandra was strong enough, the nurse made her sit up and gave her a bowl of soup, the first real food she had eaten in ages. Neither of the boys were in the room then. She finished her soup and was just going to ask about Sam, when the door flew open and he stood there, panting. He looked at her and rushed to her side. He took her face gently in his hands and looked deep into her eyes. She looked back, a little startled, her heart missed a beat. Then, as if on impulse, they crashed their lips together. They kissed with all the passion in their hearts, their unsaid love, hungering for more. She pulled him in closer with her free hand, and he kept stroking her hair. When they finally broke apart, after what seemed like an eternity of heaven, she burst into tears.Sam looked surprised, concerned, and opened his mouth to speak, but she stopped him by pulling him into a hug.
A week later, Alex was allowed to leave the hospital. She walked arm in arm with Sam and laughed at Dean's jokes. She and Dean had become really close friends. The three of the, got into the Impala and drove off into the horizon, ready to tackle whatever their fate would throw at them.
