Dean x Star!Reader : Laced in stardust ~ Part 1

A/N - This has some references to the book and film 'Stardust'

Stars were created alongside angels, the only difference is that Stars have a human form with no need for a vessel. Their wings were different however, not covered in feathers. A star's wings were made of pure stardust, shimmering the colours of the aurora borealis. Stars fall easier than angels do, its in a star's biology, they shine and then fall. Taking the form of their human counterpart with only the memories of when they were a star. Many have fallen... It was your turn.

Your POV

The sensation of falling filled you to the core, your family of fellow clustered stars cried as you fell.

'Why?' A question you asked as you fell, you wanted to open your wings but you knew that nothing would help. You just let yourself fall...

Watching the other stars stare in shock. You closed your eyes, letting a tear fall as you disappeared from the sights of your brethren. Falling past fellow galaxies, planets and meteorites as you fell to a planet known by many stars.

Earth...

Your eyes tightly shut as you fell through the atmospheric barrier, gasping lightly as you fell harder. Your form could only be seen as a spark of light to the mundane eye, you kept falling till with sudden harshness did you touch the ground. You've never been on earth before.

You cracked an eye open to look around you, touching the ground with your slightly burnt fingertips, the dirt covering the clothes you were wearing which were pure white. You remained still, weak from the fall. You couldn't keep your eyes open, you saw your brethren twinkling above you, singing in sadness. You let two silver tears fall down your cheeks before closing your eyes as your brethren fell asleep, the sun rising and staring down at you scornfully. Your eyes burned as they opened, staring up at the scornful sun. You tried to sit up, your arms still weak and stiff.

The world was bright, brighter than your old home but felt dim compared to some of the colours that you were once accustomed to. You looked behind you to reveal the form which you escaped from. The form of a dark, silver in colour rock. You knew humans would be here soon to retrieve and investigate the newly fallen 'star'.

But humans weren't the only danger to newly fallen stars.

Witches and other supernatural deities have hunted stars for centuries. The soul of a star is something that black-market sellers crave and the power can restore beauty, positivity and even life to the person who consumes the soul of a star. You rose to your feet, danger loomed. The ground was rough on your bare feet as you walked across the dirt track. Staring at the road in front of you, aimlessly walking. You felt exhausted, you weren't used to being awake during the day. Adjusting to being awake during the day is an inevitable choice you had to do. It was a simple part of human nature which you had to start doing. The heat grew unbearable as you walked through which was seemingly a desert of some kind. You kept walking, your body was feeling new senses and new emotions as your feet became blistered and raw. Your skin covered in rashes and irritations from the sand and other particles that scratched against your skin. Weak and mid-closed eyes, you still kept walking. The sounds of animals lingered above you. They looked like vultures of some kind... Their screeches lingered as your legs gave in..

Dean's POV

"God dammit Dean, why isn't the AC working?!" Sam was fiddling with the AC on Baby, it seemingly wasn't working again.

"Stop jamming at it Sammy and maybe it would work and look at the map, we're supposed to be enroute to Las Vegas Sam. Are we on the right road or not?." Sam groaned and looked at the map, mumbling something about getting a GPS.

"There's no way you're putting one of those GPS fuckers in Baby, it will ruin her." He patted the dashboard lovingly "Keep looking at the map."

"We're on the right road, we'll be there in a couple of hours." Sam sighed and put the map to the side and started to read one of his books which he bought at the last petrol station.

"Good, I'll look at Baby's AC as soon as we get to the next petrol station." He reassured Sam, who had begun to shed his jacket, overheating.

Dean rolled his eyes and kept driving away, eyes on the road and on the endless dusty sand particles that hit his eyes as soon as he opened his window on his side.

He soon saw Sam was looking at the sky, worriedly "What is it Sam?" Sam turned to look at him "Vultures... They're circling something up ahead."

"Probably roadkill Sam, nothing new. Probably a run-over coyote or something." He kept driving until Sam saw what was laying on the ground "That's not roadkill. That looks like a person Dean." He stopped Dean before he nearly ran over what was actually being surrounded by the vultures. Dean stopped Baby and got out of the car, looking at the person.

It was a woman, dressed in a white dress which was dirtied by the sand and dirt of their surroundings. Her hair was (HC) and had specks of what looked like silver intermingled with it. He kneeled beside her and could hear her delayed breaths "She's alive Sam!!" He called to his brother, who had now got out of the car to see this woman. Sam went to kneel beside Dean and checked her over "She's dehydrated Dean, she needs water and shade desperately." Dean nodded and attempted to pick up the lady whose skin looked burnt from the sun. He carried her into Baby, putting her in the backseat. Sam followed and searched for the 1 litre water bottles they packed in Baby somewhere, knowing that this girl needed water. She needed water as soon as possible. Dean kept an eye on her as Sam came back with a dampened towel, which they kept in the boot of Baby and placed it over the woman's forehead.

"Dean, I need you to help me sit her up." Dean nodded and helped sit the girl up whose hands twitched slightly as Dean's hands touched her waist. Sam tried to wake her up, not wanting to choke her with water when she was unconscious. She stirred and groaned in pain, her groans sounded dry and gravelly. Dean still looked at her worriedly as Sam unscrewed the cap to the bottle. The woman's eyes opened ever so slightly to reveal (EC) eyes but for a second they resembled stars and galaxies but Dean thought that must just be his imagination. The woman looked around and was trying to speak but her throat was too dry so Sam handed her a water bottle, she quickly gulped it down with little hesitation. Gasping for air as her throat was clear and no longer dry.

"Thank you." Her voice quiet and soft, she looked at Sam and Dean. Sam smiled "No problem, why were you out there alone anyway?" She looked at her hands for a moment, almost hesitating to speak

"I don't know... I can't remember." She told them quietly, Sam looked at her confused "Amnesia.." He thought aloud, Dean nodded "Seems so." The woman fiddled with her hands more, Sam sighed "The least we can do is take her to the next town and try and see if anyone recognises her in any shape or form and maybe we can find out who you are." Sam formed a plan.

The ladythen spoke "I do know one thing. My name.. Its (YN)."

'(YN)... Such a beautiful name. Matches her perfectly...' Dean thought in his head but shook any other thoughts out of his head '(YN) needs help, not my flirting' He told himself, acting more gentlemanly than usual.

"Well then thats a start, Hi (YN), I'm Sam and this is my Brother Dean." Sam smiled and Dean grinned at (YN), who shyly smiled.

"I'll hop in the front and drive to the next town now." Dean smiled at Sam and (YN), Sam nodded and got in shotgun .And as soon as the car started, Sam groaned and complained "Does this mean we're not stopping at the next station to fix the AC?" He asked Dean who just looked at him. Sam got his answer. He groaned in annoyance and stared out of the window, map in hand. (YN) remained in the back and fiddled with the seatbelt a bit which Sam had put around her waist. She looked around, curiosity in her eyes. 'She looks at the world with such childlike innocence...' Dean thought as he drove, eyes on the road but drifted to (YN) occasionally.

Your POV

You stared out of the window, wonder filled you to the core as you looked at everything that passed the car window. Intrigued by the little things, like the way the seats of the impala were sewn or how the sky looked bright blue, you've never seen such a wonderous thing. You've only ever seen the earth's sky as dark and the colour of crow feathers. You were thankful that Sam and Dean had found you, you were sat in their what the humans call a 'Vehicle' or 'Car'. It is an intriguing place Earth, it truly is. Looking at everything, you soon spotted Dean looking at you, you tilted your head a little in confusion, he looked away and had his eyes on the road.

"We'll be there in a couple of hours or so." Dean spoke as he drove along the dust road, You yawned and sighed. The presence of the sun in the sky made you feel so tired, exhausted even. Dean looked at you "You can sleep if you want, there's enough time for you to have a nap." You nodded and curled up a little, falling into a gentle sleep and in your mind you knew that you had to keep the fact of your lineage a secret from this minute forward, for your safety and their safety as well.

TIME SKIP~~~~~~~~~~

You awoke with a start as the car stopped, parked outside of a motel, the sky was dark and your senses heightened. Your brethren above watched over you, wide awake just like you.

"Nice to see you awake (YN)." Dean grinned and opened the car door for you, hopping out you were now stood beside Dean. "We'll take you to the police tomorrow, its too late for that type of thing." Dean smiled as Sam came back holding the keys to the motel room "Sorry (YN) but we couldn't get a room for you, you okay with sharing with us?" You nodded at Sam who smiled and led you and Dean to the motel room. The room smelt musty, you looked around in curiosity as you fiddled with the light-switch.

'Human technology is strange.' You looked at everything closely, walking around the motel which had two beds in the centre and a sofa of sorts in the corner with a few tables. Sam had collapsed on one of the beds and sighed gently. Dean dropped the bags from the car on the motel floor, sighing "Finally we can get some rest." He walked over to the sofa and looked at you "You can have the other bed." He smiled, you tilted your head in confusion "I'm being gentleman-like (YN), unless you want to share." He winked but chuckled, you could hear a groan in annoyance from Sam. You smiled anyways, sitting on the semi-comfortable bed which had some dated looking duvet covers. But you knew that you wouldn't be able to sleep anyways...

Sam and Dean weren't bothered enough to get unchanged into other clothes and instead got ready to immediately head to bed, obviously exhausted from the car journey. Dean curled up on the small sofa "Goodnight Sam.. Goodnight (YN)." He yawned, tired from driving for long periods of time "Goodnight Sam and Dean." You told them as Sam switched the lights off. You lay on the bed, looking at the ceiling. You weren't going to be sleeping anytime soon...

Soon did you see a silver light surround you, it almost beamed from you. Your hair had turned platinum and had started to glow and shine. You pulled the duvet over your head, not wanting Sam and most specifically Dean to see your hair glowing. You stayed under the covers, eyes open and unable to close. The night carried on like this, you could distantly hear the voices of your once family in your ears. Telling you that someone was already trying to trace you and that you needed to stay hidden when the next time that the constellation you were once apart of would appear in the sky, which was in a matter of days. You let tears fall at the thought of someone tracing and finding you.. This is to be the fate of most stars, it was a tragic thing but you were not going to let that happen. With all the power you have, you were going to try and escape your predecided fate.

Time Skip to the morning ~~~~~~~

Your eyes were still open, you had dropped the covers and your hair had finally stopped glowing. You sighed as you saw both Sam and Dean stir awake from slumber, Dean groaned as he rose up from a seemingly uncomfortable position which he was laying in on the most likely uncomfortable and stiff sofa. He stretched, his leather jacket slipping off of the sofa as he did so. Sam rose up, his face completely covered by his mess of dark brown hair.

"Morning Rapunzel, Morning (YN)." Dean chuckled tiredly, Sam rolled his eyes and went to get ready. Dean smiled and looked at you "Remember anything? Anything at all?" He sat down on your bed and looked at you, you shook your head "No... Nothing at all." Dean sighed and touched your shoulder "We'll find out who you are. I promise you." You looked into his eyes and nodded, encaptured by the intense green eyes that belonged to him, a forest was deeply set in those eyes, a forest full of trees and foliage that reminded you of the colours that you saw up above when you stared down at earth below. His eyes felt warm and felt like they withheld humanity and..

Hope.

You snapped out of gazing into his eyes when his hand left your shoulder, you looked at him as he rose back to his feet. Sam walked out of the bathroom and let Dean or you use it if you needed it. Dean looked at the clothes you were wearing "You can borrow some of my stuff till we can get you something, except shoes since mine will be way too big for you, you can wear a pair of my socks at least." He pulled out a shirt of his and some comfy bottoms along with some odd socks, you knew that they would be too big but you took them from him gently. You walked into the bathroom, looking at everything, smelling the shampoos and even tasting the toothpaste a little just out of curiosity. You hesitantly got out of the now off-white dress which was covered in dust and grime, the dress reminded you off home. And in that moment, the dress slowly evaporated into stardust, it coated your fingers but soon it disappeared, the shimmering memory of home disappeared from plain sight. You sighed and spotted the tattoo upon your back, coloured with purples, blues and gold, which reflected the constellation you fell from.

'Ursa Major.'

Stars were like soldiers, put in their teams and squadrons and prepared for the times when you would join together to create your given constellation. But when one of your squadron falls or became a fallen star, another one of your brethren would replace you, you knew that this would be so for your case. You covered the reminder of home with the shirt that Dean had given you to wear, along with the comfy bottoms and oddly soft socks. You adjusted them to your size and smiled softly, walking out of the bathroom to see Dean smiling at you. Sam was ready to go "We're going to get you to the police station and everything but we'll have to leave you here for an hour or so to solve some private business that we have here." You nodded "That's okay, I don't want to burden you in any way."

Dean smiled softly at that and got ready to go, you took one step towards the door before you felt a sudden gush of air and a new presence had suddenly apparated into the room.. Dean cussed "God damnit Cas! She's human, I thought you would've sensed that before zapping in." Cas looked at you in confusion and with that moment you realised that he was an angel.. He and you were of the same. He could sense that you were not human, you could feel that he was thinking that just by the way he looked at you with disbelief. He began to speak to you in the language of the angels which the stars shared with them, enochian. Sam and Dean watched in disbelief as he looked at Castiel and you, Castiel kept speaking to you and you finally plucked up the courage to speak back which made Dean's eyes widen.

'You are from the colony of stars, we share blood and power,Star of Ursa Major.' Castiel spoke to you in enochian

'Castiel, the angel of Thursday, my fate is decided. Someone is looking for me already, Brother Angel.' You used his titles as that's how stars interacted with angels. Angels were a favoured creation of God, Stars were created on the 4th day of creation unlike the Angels who were formed on the very first day. Respected by Father, unlike the Stars who were cast to the side like decorations on a shelf that was the sky above one of Father's favoured creations alongside Angels, man and earth.

Castiel nodded in response to your words 'I will keep you safe, for as long as I can, Sister of the constellation Ursa Major.'

Dean looked in shock "Wait?! (YN) ARE YOU AN ANGEL?!" It had just sunk in that the language spoken was enochian. You didn't look at Dean, looking at the ground as Castiel sighed

"She is not an angel, Dean." Castiel told him, Dean sighed "Well that's a relief. But then how does she know enochian?" He questioned. "That's because Dean, she is a star." He said plainly, Dean blinked a few times in disbelief "A what?"

"A star. I am a star. Well was a star of the constellation 'Ursa Major.'.." You finally spoke shyly and looked at Dean who was still in disbelief. Sam looked just confused "So stars know enochian?" He asked which you nodded "Stars and Angels are formed the same, except Angels were formed first and the stars like me came afterward. We are like... 'Half-Siblings'. I think that's what humans call it." You explained and Sam nodded as he understood the biology aspect of this and soon was Dean able to form words again "So you do have memories after all." He felt betrayed almost by this factor that you didn't openly say about your situation. You nodded "I do, from when I was a star but I couldn't tell you straight away as stars are known to be black market items for fellow supernatural entities." You spoke to Dean.

"People buy stars? For what reason?" Dean asked to which you and Castiel looked at eachother sadly "A star's life source and soul is as powerful as an angel's grace. Except star's soul essence can bring power to the person who consumes it. It can bring power, positivity and even life back to a person if consumed..." Castiel spoke of the fate of most stars with a dull and expressionless tone as the subject cut deep into you. Dean frowned "So (YN) is in danger now for just living?" to which you nodded "Till the day I die, although that might be close as I have someone after me already." You told them to which Dean looked at you "How do you know that?" You sighed "The fellow stars told me, they told me to stay hidden and safe when 'Ursa Major' reappears in the sky once more." You looked at everyone. Sam questioned "But you're from that constellation, does that mean something in any shape or form?" Castiel sighed "Only when their constellation is in the sky, does the Stella Blade, the specific blade that can kill a star, work and kill them..." He told them, you felt like he was dissecting your identity for the boys. But a question hit you quickly which you wondered why you didn't think about it till now, why were the boys so comfortable with this?! They were in the presence of an angel for father's sake. You looked at the brothers "How are you two so comfortable with this?" You looked in confusion but quickly Castiel answered your question "They're hunters, the Winchesters." You had briefly heard of them before but nothing in detail, only that Father had big things in store for them that soon would be foretold in the sky. "Oh, now I understand." You nodded and stayed beside Castiel. Dean looked at you with a soft expression, you smiled. Sam sighed "Do have any clue about who might be following you?" You shook your head "I'll ask my brethren tonight." Sam nodded and sighed "So what to do now? I guess we have two cases to deal with now." Sam looked at Dean, who seemed to be thinking. "Indeed. We better start researching and shit, Sam what have we got so far?" He talked with Sam, talking about the case.

You sat down, knowing that you wouldn't be of use. Castiel sat beside you, talking in enochian with you as to keep you company. You spoke to him in your native tongue with a soft smile, talking about many things as the boys researched away. Dean glanced at you a couple of times, unknown emotions in his eyes which made you stare into them for a long time before he looked away. You sighed and wanted to investigate the mix of human emotions in his eyes, it varied often.

TIMESKIP TO LATER ~~~ NIGHT-TIME

Time grew on, Castiel had left, the boys were in and out of the motel room all day as they did research and soon you felt an odd grumble resonate from your stomach, which made you raise a brow. "Well there's a differences between angels and stars, seems like stars do actually need to eat human mush." Sam chuckled, Dean let out one as well. You were still confused by the sound but went with it as Sam grabbed his wallet and went down to the local supermarket place, going to grab some things for everyone to gorge on. You remained seated on the bed until Sam came back with two big bags of food. You looked through the bags, confused by the packages of the sustenances that humans needed to survive, they were weirdly coloured and very strange looking.

Dean picked out his things that he was choosing to eat tonight, you chose some things and opened the packaging, with help from Sam and Dean (Mostly Dean). You took a bite out of what they called a 'sandwich.' and was oddly surprised. It was surprisingly really good, you took more bites. Dean smiled as he watched you almost ravenously tear into a simple sandwich, chuckling as crumbs went everywhere. Dean chuckled which made you smile brightly but you went silent when suddenly your hair turned platinum once more, the glowing light grew bright. So bright that Sam and Dean covered their eyes, you grabbed the duvet covers and covered yourself with them, hiding your face and body while still holding the sandwich in hand.

Dean blinked a few times, confused as he still saw some light still beaming through the duvet covers, he wandered over to your side and slowly peered under the covers and saw that you were now face to face with him. You stared at him, he smiled "Its okay, come on out." You put the duvet to the side, your hair glowed a less bright shine now. Sam was rubbing his eyes "And I thought flash photography felt awful to my eyes." He muttered gently. You rubbed the back of your neck awkwardly, looking at Dean who looked at you reassuringly. "Sorry, still share my habits of shining at night." Dean smiled "Its fine." He ruffled your hair ever so softly.

Sam yawned and stretched "Sounds like bed is calling my name." He chuckled, Dean smiled as his brother once again collapsed on his bed. You smiled and sat on your bed, you felt guilty, you weren't going to sleep yet you were going to take up a bed which Dean could be using instead of you,who was just laying on it and staring at the ceiling. You rose to your feet and looked at the mini-sofa and then looked at Dean "You may take the bed, Dean." You smiled, he rose a brow "I gave the bed to you (YN), take it." You looked at him "I'm being serious, take the bed Dean. You need it more than I do..." Dean still looked at you but sighed "If you're sure.." You nodded insistently, he nodded and sat on the bed. But not before patting you on the head softly, your hair still glowed a little but hints of your natural hair was intertwined with the silver. You looked at him "Goodnight Dean." You spoke softly before walking towards the couch, Dean slipped into the bed and sighed, falling asleep as he was in comfort for the first time in a while by the looks of it.

You sat on the couch and saw that a window was open in the bathroom, you walked into the bathroom and looked through the open window to see your family awake and joyful, they twinkled in delight at your presence. You smiled but felt a pain in your heart. The feeling of missing home grew deeper, the tattoo upon your back began to shine a luminescent glow that brightened up the room. A voice rung throughout the room "Insomniac eh?" You squeaked and turned to see Dean, you nodded "Being a star means sleeping at night is impossible." You told him with a small smile, he chuckled and nodded "Understandable." Dean smiled gently as you sat down on the bathroom floor, looking at the window, he smiled and sat down beside you. Noticing the glowing tattoo, he looked at it "Ursa Major, you weren't kidding when you said you were from that constellation." He joked which made you smile lightly "Indeed, its a reminder of home for me."

He seemed to be thinking as he looked at your back, you looked at him confused "Are you okay?" You asked, still unaware of human emotions. He looked at you and nodded "Can I ask you a question." to which you nodded "Ask away Dean." You looked at him with a small smile.

"Since you're practically related to Angels, does that mean you have wings like them as well?" He asked, to which you smiled more "We do have wings like them, except ours do not have feathers." He looked confused by this "Then what are they covered with?" He asked "They're made and covered with stardust." He looked at you in awe at that fact, you felt safe with him in this room. You closed your eyes for a moment, smiling as he looked at you confused. A light shone bright for a moment before dimming down to reveal your wings of pure stardust which filled the room completely. He gasped, he rose a hand to brush against them, it felt ticklish against his fingers and ticklish against your wings.

"Wow..." He muttered as his fingers ran through your wing feathers, they felt soft but at the same time dusty. You shivered as he did that, closing your eyes as he kept going. He grinned as when the moon shone on your wings, they morphed into different colours that reflected onto the walls, looking as if they had their own personal galaxy before his and your's eyes. You felt like you were at home when you looked at the colours that almost painted the walls. Dean's amazement made your heart flutter fast, faster than how quick your wings could swoop amongst the meteorites that made your home feel like 'Home.'.

Home was in grasp but yet too far away...
