Goodbye (AU Castiel)

Sum: Lately you have been feeling down and depressed about your relationship with your older sister Paulette. After you run out of the house from a fight you two have and head for your favorite spot in the park. You meet a mysterious stranger there.

Contains: Angst, fighting, depression trigger warning, fluff?, first meeting, kinda long (sorry!).

*A/n: sorry if this is really boring or super sad, I've been sad lately and wanted to write out this kind of scene to try to cheer myself up. Also Im gonna make a part two!
———————————————————-
"Hey sis, do you see the cloud up there? Don't it look like a shape of a mermaid to you?" You happily ask as you stare outside your closed window. Paulette just remained staring down at her phone as she sat at the dining table across from you, not really listening to you talk to her.

"I don't know." She answers angrily. You felt like a dog being scolded for being bad, you felt like your ears went backwards in shame for upsetting her.

"Why do you have to get so angry at me?" You quietly ask her, afraid if you gave her an attitude she would only get angrier.

"Because you ask stupid questions all the time." She rolls her eyes as she continues to text on her phone. Not even bothering to look at you properly.

You know what...I don't give a shit anymore..

"Honestly sis there is no such thing as a stupid question." You answer with a snarky tone.

It really hurt how she spoke to you like you were a little kid and yet you were a grown woman. So finally you decided to try to be rude to her back.

"There always is whenever you ask them." Like a knife, her words kept stabbing you in your heart over and over.

"Do you always have to be so nasty? When I have done nothing but treat you with love and respect? Hell I even take care of you when you're sick. I've put you to sleep when you had trouble sleeping..what do I do that's so awful that you must treat me like you hate me?" Your voice starts to crack. Tears appear at the corner of your eyes but you blink them away so as not to let Paulette witness them.

The room turned quiet..

No response. As moments passed ever so slowly, your ever repulsive and cynical sister was not giving you an explanation for her hostile actions towards you. But you clenched your fists so tight they nearly turned white. Your breathing started to tighten as you tried holding it in, causing your throat to burn from restraining yourself from heavily breathing, now you had enough of this. So much so that it felt like you had to release your frustrations now or it'll never happen again.

"Why don't you love me?!" You scream with tears freely rolling down your cheeks. Your throat felt like it was sore and slightly painful.

"I do!" She responds in the same harsh tone as if you should already know of her feelings. Paulette grew annoyed that you are starting to fight with her, she always assumes you know what she's thinking.

"No..no you don't! If you loved me you would inspire me, not deny me the chance to actually act like your sister. Get along with me like a sister should! But instead you treat me like I'm some idiot who can't do anything to please you!"

Why is it I try so hard to get you to be proud of me..but yet I get nothing but put downs..that everything I do is never enough..why? TELL ME WHY!

"Oh boo hoo." She says mockingly as she rolls her eyes at you, then returns to texting on her phone as if the conversation never existed in the first place.

It was like a butcher knife stabbed you in the heart yet again. Only this time its twisting as it stayed inside you, it physically and mentally hurt you so much that you could hardly bear it.

"I just want to be accepted by you..why is that too hard to ask for!? I just want us to talk like we loved each other, when we talk you're on your phone and frankly I don't feel heard when you do. When we spend time together you get angry at me no matter whether I speak to you or if I remain quiet. Nothing I do pleases you and I want to know why!" Your yell raises a higher volume all the more. It felt like the more louder you were, the better she could finally hear you and not drown you out.

Again, no response. She stops fiddling with her phone and stares at it as if she was lost. She herself didn't know why she was like this with you. She just won't admit it outright, not entirely..

Please..please just tell me why you act like you hate me if you say that you love me. I can't take this anymore.. you thought to yourself as you look at Paulette for an answer.

"I shouldn't have to explain to you that I love you when you should already know it." She grumbles. Not even looking up at you.

"Well then.." You slowly take in a deep breathe. Then slowly exhale. "Why can't you be nice to me when I tell you how much your words and actions hurt me? Hell you would kill anyone else who would make me cry but yet you have no problem being one of those reasons why I cry myself to sleep. Mind you I cry almost every night!" You admitted.

She was about to respond but you cut her off. You had to get everything off your chest.

"Hey sis did you even know that I've had thoughts about cutting myself because of you? Hm? No? Thought so. Well not all because of you but you sure as shit are one of the few reasons why I wanted to. In fact I've even had thoughts about taking a rope or better yet even my own belt to tighten around my neck, just having it on there made me think I had another way out of this, another way out of being hurt by you of even being a disappointment to you. I feel like you'll be happier if I was no longer around, I want nothing more than for us to get along but if you keep shutting me out of your heart then I'll never feel loved like you say you love me." You took a breath after you spilled out what you held inside for a few short years.

Again no explanation came out of her mouth. She just sat there looking at the table with her phone no longer importantly placed in her hand and there was so much tension in the room after your confession. But you finally felt like a huge weight was lifted after telling her how you had been feeling.

Like a light bulb you switched off and almost robotically, you began to move your feet in the direction of the front door.

"I'm never gonna let you close to me even though you mean the most to me.." You whisper as you run out the door as fast as you could possibly go. Faintly hearing Paulette call your name to come back. Her voice didn't stop you, you kept running and running even as you started to feel a painful, muscle burning sensation in your feet and legs. After a while of running, you saw in the faint distance the little swings you loved so much.

Finally, now I can rest and relax my racing thoughts..

Slowly but surely you began to walk instead of run once again. Your breathing began to move at a slower pace, your chest now hurts slightly less than it did before your escape. Running felt like it released a tiny strand of your pain, just a little though. The park you enjoyed going to was still the same as it did the last you came, it looked like a typical park with two opened  swings for the older kids, two baby swings, yellow monkey bars, as well as a bigger park set for older kids with a small rock climbing set to go with it. Also with a small park set on the opposite side for smaller kids with two small green slides attached to it and a steering wheel at the top for the little ones to go on imagined adventures. Difference was the flooring was covered with smooth little rocks instead of your typical wood chips and you loved the sound of them as they moved under your feet.

You slowly walk towards the eerily still swing, the rustling of rocks under your shoes were all you could hear as you made your short way towards it. The black seat on the swing was cold to the touch when you sat down, you slowly push back and forth and you contemplate what just happened not long ago. Realizing there was no sound coming from anywhere around the park other than your swing. You decided to pull out your phone to play your music without your headphones, just incase some creeps were around. The song that played when you pressed shuffle was 'too good at goodbye' cover by Matt Bloyd.

The song felt like the perfect song for how you felt in the moment, almost as if the song itself knew what was going on right now. Throughout the song, you began to lip sync with it. Almost as if it was a whisper.

I'm never gonna let you close to me even though you mean the most to me. That lyric really hit home for you every time you heard it before. Soon you start to close your eyes as you softly sing along with the song.

"You must think that I'm stupid, you must think that I'm a fool.." You softly sing. Not noticing anyone around so you continued to become louder.

"You must think that I'm new to this but I've seen this all before..I'm never gonna let you close to me even though you mean the most to me ca-" But then a voice out of no where cuts you off. Nearly causing you to jump out of your seat even with your eyes closed shut. The cold touch of the chain from the swing touched your neck from your slight jolt.

"Excuse me miss but can you tell me where the pizza place around here is?" You stop after hearing a gruff voice coming from next to you. The voice broke you out of your singing so you opened your eyes to see who it was.

You turn your head to the side and see a man just a few years older than yourself wearing a (what looked to you) blue button up and a beige trench coat over it. He was sitting on the swing next to you, except it was so dark out that you couldn't really see his face. The moonlight outside only showed some parts, you could see stubbles on his chin and noticed he had dark what looked to be black hair. From what you could see, he seemed to be a rather handsome stranger.

"I beg your pardon?" You ask the man awkwardly, already forgetting what he had asked you due to you trying to figure out what the man looked like instead.

"I asked if you happened to know where the pizza place is? I think I got a bit lost when I started walking around the park." He chuckles awkwardly as he hangs onto the cold chain part of the swing.

"There's one just four blocks down if you go back there, I just came from that entry so you should be able to find it if you walk there." You point to open entryway you had taken that was behind your back, he looks but doesn't move from his spot.

He stayed as he turned to stare at you for a moment. To you it should've felt scary or a bit invasive but for some strange reason it felt like you knew him from somewhere, maybe he was someone you were friends with back then. Maybe he had been an old crush of yours but you couldn't figure it out. All you knew was that this stranger's stare didn't make you uncomfortable nor frighten you one bit.

"Is there something wrong?" You ask politely. He shakes his head no.

"It's just, I heard you singing when I was nearby and..if I may say it..I think you sounded enchanting miss." You chuckle at his comment but thank him anyways.

"Are you alright if I may ask?" He continues on. He still does not move from his spot next to you.

"Just some drama, nothing for you to worry about sir." You look down at your legs, your shoulders felt heavy as you worried about what could happen now with you and Paulette.

"I'm terribly sorry I didn't introduce myself. My name is Castiel, I just moved around here about a month ago, May I ask what's your name?" You decided to tease by giving him a false name. "It's Emily." You say as you try not to laugh, giving away your secret that Emily wasn't your real name.

"No it's not." He chuckles and grins. You both laughed at you being caught.

"How would you know then??" You ask as you raise an eyebrow.

"Because that name doesn't compare to your beauty." You scoff and laugh at his line. "Damn you're a smooth mother trucker aren't ya?" He tilts his head in confusion.

"I mean it, I think you're beautiful. But if I'm making you uncomfortable then I apologize." He is about to get up and leave when you speak up. Causing him to stop moving and turn to look at you.

"My name is (Y/n).." You look at your hands as they held onto the chain of your swing. You bravely look up and see he smiles a genuine one.

"That name matches you're beauty perfectly. I hope to see you around miss (Y/n)." He slightly bows his head then takes his leave.

He was so cute when he bowed, almost as if he was from back in the 18 - 1900's haha. Maybe NOW I can sing without the audience..You slightly chuckle at yourself for trying to lighten the mood. Despite your sadness from earlier you rather enjoyed the brief talk you had with Castiel.

After a few minutes of waiting to make sure Castiel wasn't in the area, you deeply inhaled then exhaled. You felt some tension leaving your body had you slowly breathed in and out before you sang again. You didn't always sing in front of people so you finally got into singing the song again.

You began to sing once more, "Every time you hurt me the less that I cry..and every time you leave me the quicker these tears dry and every time you walk out the less I love you.." You softly whisper the lyrics that made perfect sense to you of your relationship with your sister.

"Who hurt you?"

"Ah!!!" You jump again at the sudden company. You once again turn around and see the same man, Castiel. This time he was sitting next to you again but with a box of (favorite topping/flavor) pizza on his lap.

"Someone I love very much." Was all you could say as you slightly looked down then turned away. He remained quiet as he looks down at the pizza in his lap. He opens up the box and pulls out a slice then places it on a paper plate, handing it towards you.

"Would you like some?" He asks politely. You look down at his lap where the pizza box remained and your stomach started to grumble. You shook your head 'no' but your stomach grumbled again. Louder this time.

Backstabber...

"I think your stomach grumbling just gave away your answer hehe." He laughs, in turn you smiled and look at the slice of pizza in his rather large hand.

Hesitantly you grabbed the warm pizza and nibbled on it. The taste of the cheese mixed with the marinara sauce and the (topping/flavor) all in one made it feel like heaven in your mouth. You chewed happily as the pizza satisfied your hunger, making you moan in delight at how delicious it was. You didn't notice Castiel was watching you smile as you ate while he sometimes looked away and ate a slice himself.

His smile at you never wavered.

"Feeling better?" He asks as he takes another bite of his pizza as well. Castiel sees you turn your head with your right outer part of your mouth covered in pizza sauce.

"Yeah!!" You mumble with a big piece of the pizza inside your mouth. The pizza was so good you didn't hold back even if you still had some pizza in your mouth.

"I'm glad..may I ask what you're doing out here in the dark alone?" You pause after swallowing your pizza. Licking off some of the sauce that stayed on your face.

Should I even tell a total stranger what's going on?

I mean it's not like I'll see him again...maybe talking it out could help me get some insight on what I should do..

You then explain to Castiel the events of what happened before you arrived at the park, he listens to everything you say without changing his expression. It looked as though he was incapable of changing his facial expressions but he was annoyed at how Paulette treated you, he just didn't want to show it.

"I'm sorry that you got into a fight with your sister, it doesn't sound like she's very nice to you." He says softly. The pizza was almost gone by now as you two shared it.

"Eh I'm used to it, I love her very much. I do. But I wish we could talk more and bond better." You sigh.

The pizza was practically gone as you continued to talk with Castiel about bits and pieces of the drama in your life. Some of your talk was spent walking around the rather small park, then you'd sit back down on the swings, and the rest of the chat was spent on the slides as you both laid down to stare at the starry night sky. Not even noticing that you were out all night, your evidence of that was the sun rise as it showed itself to you and Castiel.

"Oh man it's morning! I'll have to return hone now." You quickly get up from the slide, nearly falling from how tired you began to realize you must've felt.

"Wait!" Castiel's voice raise caused you to stop your escape.

"Yeah?"

"May i atleast make sure you get hone safely? I won't do anything but I would feel much better if I saw to it that you made it hone alright." He asked as he yawned slightly.

You thought about his offer for a few moments, knowing that even though you talked all night you still didn't know Castiel. But you already knew your answer before you even stopped and thought about it.

"Yes. Thank you." You smile. He then walks with you as you make your walk towards the area where your home would be. As soon as you saw the familiar street which was where your home was, you turned and stopped Castiel.

"This is me. I don't want my sister to come outside and murder you so it's best if we part ways here." You laugh. He looked slightly sad that the talk was cut short but understood.

"Farewell then, I hope I can see you again another time." You nod and walk towards your home, as soon as you get close to your front door. Head turning around to see that he was still standing in the same spot.

You wave goodbye and he mirrors your motion. Finally leaving with what you saw to be a smile upon his face.
