Welcome to Paradise
{Art is not mine.}
"Gabriel. Come here for a minute."
Gabriel, archangel of the Lord, stood and spread his six gloriously golden wings, it only taking a second to fly over to where his father was standing. "Yeah, Dad? What is it?"
God smiled down upon the angel. "Meet your new brother, Castiel."
He shifted his arms, revealing the small bundle held close to the great deity's chest. Gabriel's eyes immediately widened, his mouth opened slightly in awe. In God's arms lay a baby, tiny and precious as his chest rose and fell calmly with sleep. The archangel's eyes darted up to his father's before back down to newest addition to their heavenly family.
"Can I...can I hold him?"
God smiled warmly. "Of course, my son." Gingerly, Gabriel took his baby brother into his arms, holding him close to his chest. Castiel made a soft noise in his sleep, and turned to snuggle deeper into the elder angel's warm chest. Two of the tiniest wings Gabriel had ever seen appeared on the youngest angel's back, dark as the midnight sky. The archangel brushed his fingertips through the baby's tufts of soft black hair, letting out a short, breathless laugh and choking back tears.
"I...he's..." He looked back up at God, his father's face blurry with unshed tears, a grin spread wide across his face. "He's beautiful." His attention was once again drawn to the little creature in his arms.
"Would you like to be the one to raise him?"
Gabriel's head snapped back up. "I...what...I mean...yes! But...do you really think I could? Lucifer is much better at this than I am and Michael is the oldest–" God silenced his son with a hand.
"I have seen enough to firmly believe that you will do just fine, Gabriel." His warm smile returned. "And I do believe he's waking up."
A tiny yawn pierced the air, and Gabriel once again gained a look of awe as he watched his new baby brother stretch his minuscule arms and wings in his hold. A few seconds later, the young angel opened his eyes, revealing a gorgeous shade of blue Gabriel was pretty sure didn't even exist until just now.
The moment Castiel opened his eyes, the baby's face split into a happy smile, eyes crinkling in a precious way as he reached up for the elder archangel, tiny hands opening and closing in an almost rhythmic way.
Gabriel had to wipe away his tears before waving a finger above the newest angel. The dark-haired child easily latched onto it, swinging it around in joy. "Hey, Castiel." His voice broke, and his grin grew even wider as the baby began to giggle happily. "You hear that, little Cassie? I get to raise you! I get to teach you how to fly, how to walk, and, maybe, let you help me prank ol' Luci every once in a while." The last part was uttered in a whisper, but he could still hear his father chuckle quietly. The archangel looked up once more at God, unsuppressed joy, delight, and excitement evident on his face. "Thanks, Dad. Just...thanks." With his attention focused on his youngest brother, he found him reaching out earnestly for his golden wings. Laughing, Gabriel dangled the tip of the uppermost wing just out of the baby's reach, using the feathers to tickle his nose, before bending down to whisper one sentence to the child he already loved dearly.
"Welcome to paradise, Castiel."
I know, short one, but I've got another already finished and should be up within the next 24 hours and yet another in the works! I hope you guys love Luci as much as I do because he's probably gonna be in a lot of them! As well as Gabe! And, of course, little Castiel!
