The Perfect Dress
Part 2 of The Proposal
You and Sam had decided that you both wanted a small wedding, just with your closest friends there. Cas had agreed to be your minister, Dean was the best man, and Charlie would be your maid of honor. Bobby would be there to walk you down the isle and Kevin would bear witness. You had even planned to get married in the Bunker's library, a symbol of how you and the younger Winchester had bonded over your love of books and knowledge. You couldn't be happier with the arrangements. Kevin and Charlie had insisted on decorating the library with flowers and an arch, along with a white carpet isle.
The only thing left for you to do, was the dress. You convinced Charlie (though it didn't take much convincing) to help you pick out your attire and you were both extremely excited as the two of you entered the bridal store. Your budget was quite low, seeing how hunting didn't pay all that much, but you weren't looking for anything too fancy. You wanted something simple, but, of course, still elegant.
"Ooh, what about this one?" Charlie squealed, pulling yet another gorgeous dress off the rack. Intricate flowers were embroidered over the whole of the garment, and the train seemed to be longer than the rest of the outfit. The dress was beautiful, no doubt, but it wasn't what you were looking for.
"I dunno, Charlie. I want something... simple," you smile.
"Yeah, I guess you're right," she giggled, "It is a little too much, huh?" She carefully placed the dress back, only to grab three more. "Here, go try these on!" she insisted excitedly.
You laughed at her quirkiness and walked into the changing room. You stripped and tugged on the first dress, sucking in your stomach before pulling the side zipper up so it was concealed under your arm. "Okay, I'm coming out," you call.
Charlie Bradbury's face lit up like a Christmas tree when you opened the door. "Woah." The dress you had tried on was different from the others, to say the least. It was fitted and conformed to every one of your curves. The front stretched just above your knees and the back decended into a long, poofy, ruffled train. The deep v-neck attached to two thin straps that were coved in sequins which adorned the top of your chest. You felt pretty, but something was left to be desired. "Jeez, Y/N, you look hot!"
"It's certainly cute, but be honest, does this make my butt look big?" you asked jokingly, turning around to show her the large padded ruffles connected to your backside. The two of you broke into giggling fits. "I'm gonna go try on another," you chuckled.
The next dress was just as beautiful asthe others, and definitely something you would wear. You emerged from the changing room with a smile. "Hey Charlie, could you help me tie this?" you said, pointing to the corset strings hanging from the back of the dress. One fitted, you turned to the mirror and gasped. The corset top was covered in lace and the cap sleeves looked adorable. The mermaid tail bottom lead to a train with more lace over it, and it had a beautiful flower pin stuck to the lace belt.
Charlie smiled as she took you in. "You look great!" she cheered. "Do you like it?" she asked.
"I love it," you breathe. You spun around infront of the mirror, carefule not to trip over the train and admired the garment. That was when you saw the numbers on the price tag in the mirror, and the smile faded from your face. "Aw, crap," you muttered, sighing.
"What's wrong?" Charlie questioned.
"There is no way I can afford this," you tell her, showing her the tag.
"Wowza! That's a lot of dough for something you're only gonna wear once."
"I'll just try on the next one, you say disappointedly. She gives you a sad smile as you walk back imto the dressing room.
You tug the next dress over your head and easily zip up the back. 'Huh, I didn't even have to suck in my stomach for this one,' you think happily. "Okay, here I come."
"Oh. My. God," your friend said in awe as you approached her. "Y/N... you look... you look amazing," she gaped.
"Really?" you asked and you turned to see what you looked like in the mirror. "Oh... wow," you agreed. It was simple, but it was elegant. The sweetheart neckline accented your frame and flowered beeads rested just below the bust. Below the waist looked like what could only be described as a ballgown. You twirled around in joy, and was relieved to find the price was actually a little under budget. It was the perfect dress. "This is the one," you smiled, turning back to the ginger.
She nodded, grinning back at you. "Well, while you were changing, I took the liberty to find some cute shoes and a tiara, which will go perfectly with the dress!" she squealed, holding up two shopping bags. "My treat," she added.
"Charlie, you didn't have to do that!" you said, hugging your friend.
"Think of it as an early wedding present," she smiled. "God, I can't wait to see Sam's face when he sees you in this dress!"
